Today’s episode is about worthiness: what it meant for me growing up LDS, what the temple recommend questions actually ask, and how all of that compares to the freedom we have in Jesus.
This conversation is close to my heart because, when I was Mormon, I lived and breathed the idea of being “worthy.” Worthy of God’s love, worthy of my temple recommend, worthy of eternal life. But in Christ, I’ve discovered that worthiness isn’t something we earn — it’s something we receive through Him.
We’ll explore:
Why “worthiness” is central to LDS salvation
What the temple recommend interview really asks
The meaning of “priesthood keys” vs. biblical authority
The difference between LDS covenants and the New Covenant in Jesus
Why true worthiness can’t come from behavior or institutions — only from grace
Before we begin, I invite you to pause and pray with me — that the Lord would guide this conversation and open our hearts to His truth.
📖 Scriptures Mentioned
Luke 24:49 – “Endued with power from on high.”
Acts 1:8 – “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
John 14:13–14 – “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it.”
John 20:21–22 – “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
Revelation 1:18 – Jesus holds the keys of death and Hades.
Hebrews 8:6 – Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant.
Colossians 1:12–14 – The Father has qualified you.
2 Corinthians 3:5–6 – Our sufficiency is from God.
Romans 8:1 – “There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 3:23 – “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace.”
💬 Key LDS References
Russell M. Nelson, General Conference (2021) – “A temple recommend reflects a deep, spiritual intent…”
Dallin H. Oaks, General Conference (April 2014) – “Priesthood keys are the authority God has given…”
Gospel Topics: Covenants – “All covenants are tests of obedience and require that we give up something for God.”
❤️ Main TakeawayIn the LDS Church, worthiness is a constant test — tied to obedience, tithing, garments, and loyalty to leadership.
But in the Bible, worthiness is a gift.
Through Christ, we are already declared righteous, accepted, and loved — not by what we do, but by what He did.
In Jesus, your worthiness isn’t up for review. It’s already finished at the cross. ✝️

What does Disney’s Tangled have to do with the Bible and the LDS church? In this conversation, my friend Juanita Longenbach (biblical Christian, former Utah resident, and certified Master Splankna® practitioner) shares the Tangled illustration she developed years ago—an analogy that helped me personally when I first left Mormonism.
We unpack how words like “Jesus” and “gospel” can sound the same but mean very different things, why critical thinking matters when testing truth claims, and how to approach LDS friends and missionaries with gentleness, respect, and gospel clarity. You’ll also hear Juanita’s story of developing a heart for the Latter-day Saint community, her simple critical thinking exercise for kids, and why the real Jesus—not a replica—makes all the difference.
If you’ve ever wondered how to lovingly engage with LDS beliefs, this episode will equip you with both compassion and truth.

Key Takeaways
Tangled perfectly illustrates deception vs. truth: Rapunzel believed Gothel was her mom, but belief didn’t make it true.
LDS and Christian terms often sound identical but carry very different meanings.
Critical thinking: don’t believe something just because someone told you—test it against reality and Scripture.
A kid-friendly exercise can help children learn to investigate truth for themselves.
Christians aren’t hostile toward people—we love them—but we must reject lies, whether taught in Mormonism or from pulpits claiming Christianity.
The gospel is clear and simple: salvation is through Christ alone, by His death, burial, and resurrection (1 Cor. 15:1–4).
We’re called to love LDS friends and missionaries with gentleness, respect, and confidence in Scripture.
Scriptures Mentioned:
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 – The true gospel message
1 Peter 3:15 – Be ready to give an answer with gentleness and respect
John 10:28 – No one can snatch them out of God’s hand
Romans 8:1 – No condemnation for those in Christ
Galatians 2:20 – Christ lives in me
Matthew 5:3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit

“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” — Revelation 3:15–16
Jesus doesn’t sugarcoat it—lukewarm faith is dangerous. But here’s the truth: I lived that way for years, and I didn’t even realize it. What I thought was real Christianity… wasn’t what I thought it was.
In this episode, I’m sharing my full conference message about the difference between living lukewarm and living on fire for Christ.
We’ll walk through:
The four marks of a lukewarm (WARM) Christian
The four marks of an on FIRE Christian
How repentance moves us from resistant to refreshed
Practical ways to live a Spirit-filled life that bears real fruit

What is grace—really? In this conversation, Dr. Derwin Gray (lead pastor of Transformation Church, former NFL player, and author) helps us trade striving for surrender. We unpack the difference between grace and earning, why “Jesus already scored 100” changes our daily lives, and how the Holy Spirit forms Christ in us (sanctification). We talk about assurance (“no condemnation”), what James means by “faith without works,” and the Old Testament picture of atonement that points straight to Jesus. In this episode of The Pink Apostle Podcast, we continue our deep dive into the roots of LDS temple theology and turn our focus to the priesthood.
The LDS Church claims its priesthood is a restoration of something ancient and biblical. But when we hold that claim up to the light of Scripture, we see a different story:
👉 The biblical priesthood was always pointing forward to Jesus.
👉 His priesthood is permanent, perfect, and final.
👉 In Christ, believers are a royal priesthood—not through ordination, but through spiritual rebirth.
Together, we’ll explore:
What the priesthood is in the Bible and why it mattered under the Old Covenant
How Jesus fulfilled it completely as our High Priest
How the LDS priesthood system deviates from the gospel
The striking influence of Freemasonry on LDS priesthood and temple rituals
Why the gospel of Jesus is better than any human hierarchy
This is about more than history or theology—it’s about your access to God. And if you are in Christ, you don’t need a veil, a recommend, or a secret name to draw near to Him. You just need Jesus.
Scriptures Referenced
Old Testament:
Exodus 28 (establishment of the Levitical priesthood)
Genesis 14 (Melchizedek blesses Abraham)
New Testament:
Hebrews 7:24–25 — “Because Jesus lives forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore, He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.”
Hebrews 9:11–12 — “He entered the Most Holy Place once for all time—not by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.”
Hebrews 8:13 — “By saying a new covenant, He has declared that the first is obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old is about to pass away.”
1 Peter 2:9 — “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Acts 1:8 — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Galatians 1:6 — “I am astonished that you are so quickly turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.”
Romans 5:1–2 — “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.”

For years, the LDS temple was the very center of my faith. I believed its ordinances were the key to eternal life, my family’s salvation, and my worthiness before God.
But when I compared LDS temple teachings to Scripture—and discovered their ties to Freemasonry—everything changed.
In this episode of The Pink Apostle Podcast, I share my personal journey and explore:
- The surprising historical connection between LDS temple ceremonies and Freemasonry
- What the Bible teaches about the temple—from the Tabernacle to Jesus Christ
- Why the gospel gives us something far better than secret names, handshakes, or veils.
If you’ve ever wondered about the origins of LDS temple worship—or how it compares to God’s Word—this episode is for you.

Welcome back to The Pink Apostle Podcast! If you haven’t listened to Part 1 yet, hit pause and go check out Episode 5—we laid the groundwork by unpacking the origin of LDS exaltation and how it contrasts with the gospel of grace found in Scripture.
In Part 2, we’re continuing our deep dive into Chapter 47 of the LDS Gospel Principles Manual (link below), examining the ordinances and commandments the LDS Church says are required for exaltation—and holding each one up to the truth of God’s Word.
We’ll walk through baptism, priesthood, temple ordinances, eternal marriage, and more—and see how the Bible teaches something radically different: Jesus is enough. Salvation is eternal life, and it’s received by grace—not earned by works.
💗 Whether you’re questioning, deconstructing, or just curious—this episode is for you. Let’s walk in truth together.

In today’s episode, we dig into one of the most critical differences between LDS doctrine and the Bible: Is the goal of eternal life to become like God (exaltation)? Or is it something far better — being reconciled to Him through Jesus?
We examine LDS teachings on exaltation as found in Gospel Principles Chapter 47: Exaltation (official LDS site) and compare them to the true gospel found in Scripture.
Together, we'll unpack:
What the LDS church teaches about becoming gods and eternal families
What the Bible says about who God is, who we are, and what eternal life actually means
Why salvation is not a stepping stone to godhood — it is the goal
How striving for exaltation shifts our eyes off Jesus and onto ourselves — and why grace through faith is enough
We’ll hold each claim up to God’s Word and let Scripture speak louder than tradition.
📖 Scriptures Referenced:
1 Corinthians 15:46 — “The natural is first, then the spiritual.”
Zephaniah 3:17 — “The Lord your God is with you...He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Matthew 25:46 — “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world...”
Romans 6:23 — “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.”
John 17:3 — “This is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Ephesians 2:8–9 — “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith...”
Hebrews 10:14 — “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”
Galatians 2:21 — “If righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.”
Colossians 2:10 — “You have been given fullness in Christ.”
Luke 8:19–21 — “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and do it.”

In this episode, we take a deep dive into the LDS "Plan of Salvation" and ask the hard questions and break down the core differences between the LDS plan and the biblical gospel by exploring ideas like:
Is God’s desire for us to become like Him… or be in relationship with Him?
What is eternal life according to the Bible?
Does salvation lead to exaltation, or is that a distortion of the gospel?
Is the LDS “Plan of Salvation” really biblical?
We’ll compare LDS teachings with Scripture, hold up claims like pre-mortal life, proving ourselves faithful, and becoming like God—and then weigh them against the truth of God’s Word.
👀 Spoiler alert: the Bible tells a radically different story. One where salvation isn’t the doorway to an obstacle course… but the finished work of Christ that welcomes us directly into relationship with God.

In this powerful episode of The Pink Apostle, we’re pulling back the curtain on one of the most important—and often misunderstood—truths in the conversation between Mormonism and Biblical Christianity: The Jesus of the LDS Church is not the same as the Jesus revealed in Scripture.I share my heart, my story, and the Scriptures that opened my eyes after decades in the LDS Church. We walk through exactly how the LDS version of Jesus differs from the Jesus of the Bible—His nature, His identity, and His finished work on the cross. You’ll hear:Why it matters who Jesus truly isHow LDS doctrine redefines ChristThe danger of a “different Jesus” (2 Corinthians 11:3–4)What the Bible actually says about Jesus’ eternal nature, deity, and uniqueness.Scriptures referenced in this episode:📖 Matthew 7:21-23📖 Matthew 10:32📖 1 Corinthians 15:53-58📖 John 1:1–3, 14📖 Matthew 24:4-5📖 Matthew 24:24📖 Galatians 1:6–9📖 2 Corinthians 11:3–4📖 Isaiah 64:5-6📖 Colossians 1:15–20📖 Colossians 1:22📖 1 John 5:20📖 1 Corinthians 8:5-6📖 Revelation 21:1-4This episode is for anyone questioning the Jesus they’ve been taught, especially those coming out of or currently in the LDS Church. In this episode of The Pink Apostle, we dig deep into the beautiful truth of who God is—not a man made of flesh and bone, but the eternal, unchanging, holy Spirit who existed before time began. We explore what Scripture reveals about God's divine nature, His complete otherness from us, and what that means for our identity, our purpose, and our worship. This is a freeing, faith-building reminder that God doesn’t change His mind, grow weary, or become like us—He is forever the same, and we can trust Him fully.

Welcome to the Pink Apostle Podcast! I'm so excited to be here, sharing my journey and the undeniable joy, peace, and love I've found in Jesus. I grew up as a devout member of the LDS church, striving for worthiness, but over time, God led me to a deeper understanding of His grace. Through life’s challenges—miscarriage, divorce, single motherhood, and remarriage—I have learned that true transformation comes not from striving but from surrendering to Jesus alone. This podcast is for those who feel exhausted, like they’re never quite enough, or who long to truly know Jesus. If you’re seeking the freedom and abundant grace found in Him, you’re in the right place. Each episode, I’ll share my story, biblical truths, and the power of God’s love.Key Scriptures:Romans 5:8: "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."1 John 4:16: "God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."Revelation 3:16: "So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth."Matthew 7:7-8: "Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you."God has led me to share my testimony so others can find the freedom I’ve found in Jesus. I pray this podcast blesses you and helps you draw closer to Him. Join me each Tuesday as we seek Him together!
