The Open Road - a Dungeons and Dragons sandbox campaign
Episode One: "Elf Rage and Other Surprises" (Session 0)
In the beginning, there were four friends. And lo, they said unto one another: "Let us record our adventures, not for fame, nor glory, nor lucrative Patreon subscriptions, but so that we might enjoy our own nonsense while doing laundry." And it was good. Thus begins The Open Road, a podcast forged in the fires of friendship and probably at least one mildly overpriced microphone. The inaugural episode features not dragons, nor dungeons (those come later), but something far more dangerous: character creation. Together, they squint at character sheets, forget which dice is which, and collectively try to remember the difference between a background and a backstory. There is laughter. There is confusion. There are moments where rules are bent, broken, or politely ignored because that sounds cool. There is no fame-hunting, no desperate clutching at audience engagement. Just four friends, an open mic, and the delightful chaos of possibility. In short: nothing happens. And yet, everything begins.WARNING: This podcast wasn’t produced for public consumption, professional critique, or mass adoration. It was made so four friends could relive their D&D shenanigans while doing dishes or running on a treadmill. You're welcome to listen in—but remember, this is more audio scrapbook than epic production. If you enjoy it, great! If not... we weren’t talking to you anyway.
