In part 2 of my chat with Joe aka Pints of Sheffield, we talk about shining a light on Sheffield bars and pubs in Battle of the Boozer, championing local brewing with Beer of the Year, Sheffield's first ever democratically voted for beer "A Pint of Sheffield", and the social hub that is Sheffield Beer Club.
We recorded this outside and it became very dark while we were out there, so if you hear some shivering, that's why!
The Not So Sober Bar Crawl is back!
In the first of this two parter that has been over a year in the making, I had a chat to the Pints of Sheffield instagram account co-creator Joe about how the account came about, the first time we met, and the background of one of the most important instagram accounts in the Sheffield beer scene!
Part two will be following soon where we chat about Battle of the Boozers & Beer of the Year, "A Pint of Sheffield", and the Sheffield Beer Club.
Welcome back to The Not So Sober Bar Crawl!
It's been a while and the pubs are still closed, so I've been ordered more beer online. Beer delivered directly to your door. What more can you ask for?!
One of my favourite bottle shops is a fairly new one in O'Briens, so I had a Zoom with head honcho Luke to talk all about how the bottle shop came to be, our favourite beers, and everything else in-between.
The Sheffield Beer and Cider festival was due to start this week but unfortunately and (understandably), it had to be cancelled.
A few weeks ago, I sat down with festival organiser Paul Crofts, to chat about what goes into making such a big event, and the ins and outs of beer festivals (including an insight into Paul's woodwork skills!).
I had a great time recording this one. Al and Charlie are great blokes who love great beer and want to share that great beer with the people of Sheffield. We talk about the name, the bar, the beers, what's next, and debate which glue may be the best to stick beer labels back on the walls.
I stayed for hours after this, and definitely did not feel well the morning after...
We had a good laugh, and I laughed even more when listening back to it, so grab yourself a drink, and strap in. It's a good one.
I popped into Shakespears for a brief chat with Bar Supervisor Jason, a man who loves his craft beer, and who has actually left Shakespeares by now to go and become a teacher!
We spoke about beers, uni, and the wonderful world of Kelham Island.
Jason really does know his beers, and has his own instagram page where he tries new ones, and writes about the. You can find him at @jase_sups_craft.
The Ship Inn was the first pub I visited on the Sober Bar Crawl, so it was great to pop back in and have a chat with manager Caty about how she came to be in the Ship, getting drunk during lockdown, and the best thing about running a pub.
