All three of us are packing our bags this week! Andrew is heading across the pond to the UKfor a class through Dallas Seminary, while Tim and Frank are jetting off to Arizona for a ministry leaders’ conference; nothing says “rest for the weary” like hotel coffee and breakout sessions.
This past weekend, Frank was preaching at Lakeview while Tim was in Jacksonville serving as best man at a wedding (and yes, it was not a Jags home game weekend—miracles still happen). When Andrew gets back home, he will be immediately start gearing up for a big Sunday after being gone and trying to remember what time zone he’s in.
It’s Episode 308 of The Morning After Ministry Show—where the pastors are tired, the travel points are piling up, and the Mondays just keep coming.
It was another wild weekend in ministry. Tim had a 10 a.m. wedding followed by a brunch reception, because nothing says “I do” like French toast and mimosas before noon. Frank hosted the very first launch meeting for Cross & Crown, and yes, both Andrew and Tim were there to cheer him on (and to eat the snacks, obviously).
Meanwhile, Andrew’s family got stuck in a classic Disney downpour, proving once again that “magical” and “miserable” can coexist in Central Florida. And in true preacher fashion, both Andrew and Tim preached longer than they were supposed to, because when the Spirit moves, clocks stop.
It’s Episode 307 of The Morning After Ministry Show, where we love Jesus, our churches, and a good brunch wedding.
We were off last week, Tim took a trip up to Jacksonville, Frank hit Disney, and Andrew apparently got “caught” visiting someone in a nursing home. Frank preached at Lakeview this Sunday and is somehow taking half the church with him to plant Cross & Crown. It’s not a split, it’s a strategic expansion. It’s Episode 306 of The Morning After Ministry Show, where we unpack Sundays, laugh at Mondays, and try to remember what day it actually is.
Well, the cops showed up. Not because of Frank’s two-week fundraising road trip, though that could’ve been a possibility. Not because Andrew said something odd from the pulpit (though, again, possible). No, this week we’re navigating Florida’s brand-new open carry law as churches, and it turns out that sometimes ministry intersects with law enforcement in ways you don’t expect.
Frank is back from his whirlwind tour raising money and telling stories across the country, Andrew got one of the strangest compliments a congregant has ever given him, and Tim had business as usual over at Lakeview.
It’s the Morning After Ministry Show—where Sunday is only half the story.
Frank is still out on his grand road trip adventure, racing funds for the new church plant. Meanwhile, Tim has been running full throttle without him in Lakeview Land. This week was packed full of architect meetings, pre-marital counseling, and baby dedications—pretty much the pastoral trifecta. Andrew’s office is a whole lot brighter these days, and at Safety Harbor, the kids are leading a mini revival. It’s another week of ministry highs, humorous lows, and proof that God is at work in the everyday moments.
What happens when Lakeview schedules a night of worship during the most anticipated football game of the early season? Let’s just say there was more prayer than passing yards.
Meanwhile, Andrew took a post-church field trip straight to the hospital last Sunday. Still no idea what’s wrong with him, but the doctors are ruling out “too many donuts at fellowship hour.”
Our churches handled the events of this past week a little diferently from each other. Ministry is never boring, and we’ve got the stories to prove it.
It was a wild week in ministry life! Andrew recapped Safety Harbor’s Back to School Pool Party—because nothing says “fall kickoff” like sunscreen and cannonballs. Over at Lakeview, Frank somehow worked “man nipples” into his sermon (yep, you read that right) and also got the unique experience of playing campus pastor for the day.
We laughed, we cringed, and we reminded ourselves that God’s grace really does cover all things… even questionable sermon illustrations.
Join us for another round of post-Sunday reflections, ministry mishaps, and the encouragement we all need on a Monday morning.
This week on the Morning After Ministry Show, Lakeview is knee-deep in their Misquoted Passages series, unpacking verses we’ve all heard taken out of context. Over at Safety Harbor, we’re two weeks into our fall series that will carry us all the way to Advent. We’re also in the thick of new members classes, mapping out some big events on the calendar, and feeling the full weight (and excitement) of back-to-school season. Ministry never slows down, but at least we can laugh, learn, and swap stories over coffee together.
We did it. 300 episodes. And what better place to celebrate than the Most Magical Place on Earth?
This week, Andrew, Tim, and Frank left the comfort of their Florida church offices and took the show on location to Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. (Don’t worry, we found a semi-quiet spot with a decent Wi-Fi signal—thanks, Galaxy’s Edge).
In this special anniversary episode, we:
• Reflect on 300 episodes of Mondays, ministry, and mediocre coffee
• Share our favorite moments and bloopers from the show’s history
• Talk about what we’ve learned after years of church leadership (and friendship)
• Offer some heartfelt encouragement to pastors and ministry leaders feeling tired, unseen, or just plain stuck
• Debate whether Pizza Rizzo is the most underrated quick-service spot in the park
• Get interrupted by a Stormtrooper patrol (true story)
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve listened to all 300 episodes or this is your first, we’re so grateful for you.
Grab a churro, throw on some Mickey ears, and celebrate with us!

We’re back in the studio for Episode 299, shaking off the summer sand and diving into all the ministry mayhem we missed while you were at camp, VBS, or just trying to survive without air conditioning.
In this episode:
• We share our best (and worst) Baptism Sunday strategies—what worked, what flopped, and how to keep the water warm and the volunteers sane.
• Frank gives us the inside scoop on Vision Sunday at Lakeview and the official launch of Cross & Crown Church, complete with a new logo and fresh t-shirts (soft cotton, obviously).
• Oh, and yes... there’s a real-life waffle stomp story. It’s exactly what you’re afraid it is.
As always, we’re bringing honest talk about life, ministry, and the strange things that happen the morning after.
Rate, review, share it with your worship pastor, and please—for the love of all that is holy—check the drain cover before you hop in the church baptismal.
After nearly two months of summer chaos, & vacations, The Morning After Ministry Show is back in action. Andrew preached right off vacation (because of course he did), Tim didn't preach (classic), and Frank was sweating it out preaching in Texas. We're also joined by our good friend, fellow pastor, and author Adam Powers to help us kick off this new season of ministry mayhem. We’re catching up, comparing sermon rust, recapping Sunday services, and reflecting on what it means to rest and return well. Join us as we dust off the mics and jump back into the rhythms of life, ministry, and Monday morning recaps. You missed us, right? Good. We missed you too.
It finally happened: Frank invited Tim to his house—no cameras, no podcasting, just good old-fashioned hospitality (and probably snacks). Meanwhile, Andrew’s house turned into party central, with a graduation-birthday-graduation-birthday combo that could only be survived with cake and caffeine. Also, May decided to go full youth ministry mode on us. All three of us were knee-deep in youth events, camps, sleepless nights, and questionable group game decisions. We’re still recovering, and our group texts prove it.In this episode: • Frank opens the door to friendship—and his living room. • Tim shares the highs and headaches of student ministry in May. • Andrew’s calendar has been nothing but “Congrats, Grad!” and “Happy Birthday!” • Plus: burnout talk, late-night ministry texts, and why May is the real church Olympics.Pour yourself another cup of Monday coffee and join us for a raw, real, and ridiculous conversation on life, ministry, and the chaos in between.
Welcome to The Morning After Ministry Show, where we’re still recovering from Sunday… and probably will be until Wednesday. This week: • Frank filled in for Andrew at Safety Harbor—and didn’t just bring the Word, he brought the crowd! (Did he charge admission?) • Andrew worshiped Lutheran-style for the first time ever at his son’s graduation. Spoiler alert: there was incense, chanting, and maybe a little bit of liturgical envy. • Tim had a Sunday marathon—an XL sermon, new members class, and possibly a spiritual cramp or two by the end of it.We’re talking pulpit swaps, denominational detours, and just how long a Sunday can really be. Pour another cup of coffee and join us for some laughs, some lessons, and a whole lot of real talk from the trenches of ministry.
It’s just Andrew and Tim today, fresh off Mother’s Day Sunday and feeling all the end-of-school-year energy (and exhaustion). With things slowing down just a bit in church life, we’re reflecting on family rhythms, ministry moments, and how to keep showing up well when the calendar finally gives us a breather.
This week we’re talking about:
• Mother’s Day services and honoring moms well
• New babies and how we navigate hospital/home visits in a Millennial & Gen Z world
• End-of-year parenting chaos (seriously, how many awards days are too many?)
• What to do when a church member lovingly rebukes you—and how to receive it with humility
• Why May might be the sneakiest busy season in ministry
Grab your lukewarm coffee and join us for the Morning After!
This week’s episode is brought to you by turbulence, terminal floors, and the Lord’s Day mercies.
Andrew just returned (barely) from a denominational conference in Mound Bayou, MS. What should have been a routine ministry trip turned into a saga of emergency landings, missed connections, and one unforgettable overnight nap on the floor of the Charlotte airport. He rolled into church at 8:45am Sunday morning—rumpled, redeemed, and ready(ish) to preach by 10.
Meanwhile, Tim took his talents to Las Vegas for a side gig—don’t worry, it was all above board (he swears), and he only lost time, not tithe money. Also, it’s the anniversary he almost died. And in a plot twist no one saw coming, Frank stepped into the pulpit at a church in Tampa, bringing the Word while the rest of us were bringing snacks to gate C12.
As always, we’re here to recap Sunday, laugh at our Mondays, and remind you that the Lord can use all things—even delayed flights and a stiff neck from sleeping under fluorescent lights—for His glory.
It’s just your boys Andrew Larsen and Frank Gil today, and oh boy, there’s a lot to unpack from an emotional, exciting Sunday! Lakeview’s Baptism Sunday brought the celebration vibes! Tim brought the Word, preaching on spiritual gifts... and in true Morning After fashion, Frank somehow got thrown under the theological bus and labeled a cessationist. (Spoiler alert: he took it like a champ. Mostly.) Meanwhile over at Safety Harbor, it was a bittersweet morning. Andrew and the church family had to say goodbye to a beloved couple who have been a pillar of ministry and community life for years. Lots of hugs. Maybe even a manly tear or two.
Yesterday was Easter, and we’re tired. Turns out Andrew is some kind of botany wiz, which works out well considering the plants on stage at Safety Harbor. Frank didn’t preach, but he did manage to interviewed everyone he could. Hundreds of people are now blind after looking at Tim.
It’s just Andrew in the studio today with Frank in his new home studio, as Tim is off doing real ministry—preaching in chapel at Trinity College (we’re so proud). Meanwhile, Andrew wraped up the "Giving Up" sermon series at Safety Harbor and in Lakeview Land Frank pressed pause on 1 Corinthians to wave some palm branches and shout "Hosanna!"Plus, big news from Frank’s church plant—a fresh new logo has dropped, and a merch launch is coming next week! Hoodies, hats, maybe even coffee mugs holy enough for your Monday morning caffeine needs. As always, we talk all things Sunday recap, sermon prep, and surviving the holy chaos of ministry life.
It’s episode 290, and ministry life is keeping us scattered but still talking. Tim and Andrew caught up at a flag football game and watched Tim’s son dominate. Immediately after church, Andrew headed off to chaperone a week-long field trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Frank’s off speaking at an event in West Virginia, and Tim had to return to the regular schedule at Lakeview. We’re gearing up for Easter Sunday, and reminding ourselves that the work (and the coffee) never stops.
Yesterday was a glorious day for Lakeview complete with bounce houses, food, and only one service! Safety Harbor shared their space with another church and you’d never even know they were here. Andrew had a wardrobe malfunction minutes before his sermon began. Tim is convinced that preaching one service is cheating. We are three weeks out from Easter…and not even close to ready.
