Meet Kate Tsorvas – Educator, Entrepreneur, and Empowered Leader in Mining & Resources Industry
Kate Tsorvas is the Managing Director of Jakarli Group (formerly EK Contracting), co-founder of Consolidated Group, and President of the nonprofit Sandon. A qualified teacher with a deep love for learning, Kate lives by the mantra: “Without change, there wouldn’t be butterflies.” Her passion lies in personal growth, embracing transformation, and empowering others to evolve in business and life.
Born and raised in the Pilbara, Kate brings a grassroots perspective to leadership in mining and civil industries. Since launching Consolidated Group in 2013 with her husband Theo, Kate has grown their operations into a thriving group of companies serving the mining, civil, mechanical, transport, and defence sectors — now boasting over 300 pieces of equipment and a rapidly expanding workforce.
Alongside Indigenous co-owner Glenn Rush, Kate leads Jakarli Group with a mission-driven focus on Indigenous employment and long-term industry impact. From project solutions to mechanical servicing and labour hire, Jakarli is fast becoming a leader in the resources space.
Under her leadership, her companies have won countless awards for safety, innovation, and training, including:
WA Training Awards Medium Employer of the Year (2021)
CCFWA Safety Program of the Year (2022)
Climate Innovation & Overall Business of the Year – Rockingham Chamber of Commerce (2023)
Small Employer of the Year – WA Training Awards (2023)
Silver – Australian Training Awards (2023)
Kate’s story is about bold pivots, purpose-driven leadership, and staying grounded in community and learning. On this episode, we dive into her journey from classroom to construction sites, building inclusive companies, and why she believes real impact happens when we lead with purpose — and embrace change.
