In Part One we discussed how to cope during our struggle and how to view hardships in a more healthy way. During Part Two, we will take a look into the book of Job and take a 3 part perspective of God, Job and Job’s friends; it’s the 3 view points we have labeled The Sovereign (God), the Afflicted (Job) and the Doubters (Job’s wife and friends).
When facing hardship we need the Word of God and the power of praying friends and family. We were never made to suffer alone. But we need people in our lives that are going to be in unity with God on our behalf. As we dive into the book of Job, we see how the people he needed most, weren’t the most encouraging. Job himself lost the ability to hope at times. His wife told him to curse God and die. Job felt the heaviness of suffering and wanted answers when what he needed was for God to embrace him in the midst of his pain. He needed friends to lament with him and point him to the Lord instead of away from Him.
Who are your friends during the tough seasons? Are they prayer warriors or doubters? Do you acknowledge God as the One True Sovereign God? Do you trust Him in the midst of all your personal chaos?
Friends, God is faithful! He will never contradict Himself nor will He ever forsake you. We all suffer but God has a message for us in those hard times. It’s our faith that brings us close to know more of who He is focusing on Him instead of what we want Him to do for us.
