About JJ Elliott:
JJ Elliott is an advertising copywriter with a degree in English from UCLA. She lost her mother to suicide as a teenager, and spent over two years volunteering on the suicide hotlines in LA. One of the reasons she wanted to write this book is because she finds herself increasingly frustrated by the way suicide is treated in print and on-screen, as a mystery to be solved rather than a multi-layered, complex mental health situation that can rarely be boiled down to one specific "reason."
A native of Northern California, JJ now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two teenage kids, and two poorly trained bulldogs. She loves to read, drink wine, play tennis, and eat cheese. There Are No Rules For This is her first novel.

What is Lunar Living? As Kristina says, “It’s an opportunity to be more reflective, to not always be in push mode and active all the times; to respect down periods, to understand fallow times and to consciously allow that and plan your life around your cycles as much as possible.” Yet it can be challenging to live this way in a world that values productivity and views rest as a sign of weakness. Join us in this rich conversation of rewilding as we explore the challenges of being lunar in a solar world, and share perspectives, practices and resources to support you in honoring both your internal lunar and solar, without letting the mind’s conditioning limit you in any way; and how to work with your ebbs and flows without losing momentum or visibility.
After we wrapped up our recording I realized I’d forgotten to ask Kristina the question I ask all of my guests: What brave woman inspires you these days? So I asked her afterwards and here’s her response: “The brave woman who inspires me right now is my body, and the body of the feminine in general. My body is resilient, she loves fiercely, she holds all of me. I'm expanding my capacity to feel her, to live inside of my own body more and more from a place of deep compassion for all that my body has lived through. I'm feeling less resistance to my aging body - my midlife, postmenopausal feminine vessel. Bringing awareness and deep reverence for my matrilineal ancestral body and the collective feminine body - for every woman's body. The goddess body, this precious body.”
Journaling prompts:
1. How do you access/receive your intuition?
2. What are the practices you engage in that invite you into that receptive way of being so you can actually receive your intuition?
3. What are some of those choices or actions you’d like to take that invite you into more vulnerability and visibility?
4. What are the things (and resources) that can support you in that, before, during and after?

About Girl Up Initiative Uganda (GUIU)
Since 2012, Girl Up Initiative Uganda has provided young women and girls with opportunities to succeed and thrive as leaders in their communities through holistic education and economic empowerment. We envision a world where girls are given the opportunity to reach and tap into their full potential through access to formal and non-formal education, economic inclusion, skills-building, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Our programs are driven by our communities, for our communities.
