Dukes Review: For the record, we chose this episode because Corndog wants to pile on that CEO and that HR lady that have made infidelity the most popular public shaming event since the invention of the internet Meme. We also learn that the P in Rosco P Coltraine stands for Pervis.

This episode starts with an upside down smashed GL….and just gets better. Rosco p Coltrane gets the CEO Treatment by a well built mail order bride, and it’s the oldest trick in the book: young woman with a husband and crony convince a Sheriff to get him out of the way so Boss Hogg can be conveniently robbed while everyone is attending a wedding.

In the midst we see the General get totalled, untotalled, retotalled, untotaled, and then retotaled again (only to then be replaced by a horse). The sloppiness of automotive continuity in this episode is awful, and that’s what makes it so right - plus the stunts are off the chart. Oh, and the saying The Lord Helps Those That Help Themselves…..that’s not actually in the Bible. Might be in the US Constitution though. Or possibly National Treasure.

Dukes Review: I thought this was an episode with, by, and starring Cleetus in his debut in the Dukes of hazard. It is, it isn't, and it isn't in that order. Cleetus Hogg is introduced to us all in this Season 1 Dukes episode to play the role of Boss Hogg’s second cousin twice removed flunky. He does and he is. But he somehow ends up helping Boss Hogg in a bank heist…..that he was in on before it was conceived. And then he fails at it. And then Bo and Luke save the day…..by doing a literal body snatching swap, only I’m not sure that they meant to. Just like Cleetus said in the S3 Episode The Great Santa Claus Chase, "Can someone come get me; I’m lost!" But, it is a Season 1 Dukes Episode, shot in California with 14” wheels on Chargers, and Al Wyatt stunt driving the General in Full Send mode for the entire. C'est magnifique!

Movie Review: "F1" (The Brad Pitt Movie!)

I don’t know a thing about F1, but if this movie does for F1 what Days of Thunder did for NASCAR, an entire generation of kids are about to dream about being the next Sonny Hayes. And just like Days of Thunder was Top Gun on Wheels, F1 is Top Gun Maverick on…more expensive wheels!

Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes - an aging multi series vagabond driver who lives for the thrill of driving and the hope that on the track he can feel God’s pleasure upon him. (He didn't say it that way in the movie but that was the gist of it.) As a kid he was coming into Formula 1 when he had a devastating accident. It cost him his future to be the next Senna. He went to drinking spiral, bad marriages, then driving taxis, and then found his way into any racing series that would have him and let him try to tame it. And they all did. Sports cars, NASCAR, Off Road, and now F1.

His job in this movie, to get a young hot shot up to speed and save the rag tag racing team they’re all there with to save their jobs. It's predictable, it's beautiful, it's fun, and it's fast. In a nutshell: awesome.

The greatest race of the General Lee is not in this episode…..but it’s the first win of the General, and I have recently been reminded that your first win is irreplaceable. There’s no doubt about the fact that in the course of the Dukes of Hazzard, this is the race that put him on the map.

Thomas Steven Wopat presents the birth of the General Lee and - whether he meant to or not - creates the canon of the entire series by answering what every little boy needed to know most. Welcome from the Charlotte, Race City USA!

The High Performance Expo was a big success, and the Kibbe Boys (i.e. Rob and Dallas) got the chance to take in even MOR than just the High Performance Expo itself. Thanks to NHRA Superstar Clay Millicaon and KAFS Show Super Stud Listener (and Hendrick Motorsports employee) Austin Darling we got to visit not one, but TWO NASCAR Shops; Rick Ware Racing thanks to Clay, and Hendrick thanks to Austin! Both were outstanding experiences to get a true inside look at the craft, business, tech, and reality of a NASCAR life.

At Hendrick we even got the chance to attend a Bible lesson over lunch AND visit Rick Hendrick’s personal car and memorabilia collections. It was nothing short of unbelievable! Austin surprised us with his ’68 Newport sitting out front of Hendrick Motorsports, complete with a 440, A/C, steelies, and a tribute name of “Sweet Tilly” in honor of Uncle Jesse’s Dukes of Hazzard Season 1 moonshine car. Movie Review: Stroker Ace

In June of 2025 we are doing our Month of Racing! We originally reviewed the Burt Reynolds Classic "Stroker Ace" in Episode 178 in February of 2021. Enjoy!

Movie Recap: If you loved Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, Police Academy, WKRP, Gomer Pyle: USMC, The Hardy Boys, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Deliverance, and Days of Thunder….this is like all of them combined, minus ….basically everything from Deliverance except Ned Beaty, and all of the really good stuff from Days of Thunder like Tom Cruise and amazing cinematography with real in car race footage at speed. This movie would be culture cancelled today. Sexual harassment is considered innocent fun, women are ogled, there’s (ironically) no drug use, and the confederate flags are a plenty. But when Hal Needham called, Burt Reynolds answered...and made a box office flop that has kept us all clucking and chuckling to this day. Why? Because he was driving the FASTEST CHICKEN IN THE SOUTH.

K&F Movie Summary - Summer Automotive BlockBuster Re-Review!

Note - the movie review segment of this episodes originally ared in KF Show #295. Bernie just INSISTS on mailing it in! We finally let him. -Rob and CD 

We saw it! Ryan Gosling plays the Fall Guy in the big screen movie. Any of our fears about this ruining a beloved TV tale about stunts and jump trucks were wrong! The movie is great and while it might be a one and done it could certainly feature sequels too! Gosling plays the Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man that ends up having to solve a mystery, while jumping trucks and doing stunts. Sound familiar?

Colt ends up being nearly killed during the opening movie-within-a-movie stunt (that Gosling really did) due to sabotage by the jealous star that he’s doubling. It breaks his confidence and takes him away from the career (and woman) that he loves. But, when Jody the camera girl becomes Jody the director of the biggest baddest stunt movie ever to be made….he comes out of retirement to get it done. And save the relationship. And solve the mystery of the leading man that was dead…..or was he? In it are thrown in intentional meta references, sound effects and songs that will make your hears sing, aliens that make you laugh, all leading to the good guy winning in the end with the help of the girl….and a brown and gold GMC truck.

Get to the theater NOW to see it on the real big screen. You'll probably need to go twice.

Dukes Review:

It’s been three years since I last saw this episode, and I still get sick to my stomach when the General Lee gets stolen and brainwashed by the bad guys, then tries to murder the Dukes even though they all nearly get themselves killed trying to save him. Luke fights two guys to the death basically, and Bo is nearly smeared by a train at the same time. But just like last time we reviewed this if it weren’t for the miniature stunt - which thankfully were minimal - this episode would be an 11 out of 10. The General gets turned into a remote controlled car, set to detail a train full of money with a load of dynamite in the trunk. Boss Hogg was behind the scheme of course, but the Dukes came back and nearly fought to the death to protect the most important their lives: their honor? No. Their fortune? No? Their reputation? NO! It was their car! We have all learned this life lesson, and like them we all know that cars have a soul, need to be protected, and need to be fought for. I give this episode - 10 Corndogs, of which are Season 7 Corndogs, which do not have an equivalent exchange rate to say Season 2 or something. So 10 dogs here is basically the equivalent of 6.5 in years past.

Reeces Challenge:

We did the Reeces Challenge in this one to determine once and for all which Reeces Easter peanut-butter-and-chocolate product is the best. We did. We had guests as well. Then we alsmost threw up. Conclusion: the regular Reece's Egg is the best of all time (even the regular peanut butter cup).

Dukes Review:

Bo and Luke intercept some stolen diamonds. The leader of the crime ring fakes her identity as a newspaper reporter and the then hilarity ensues…..as the diamonds are pursued by Boss Hogg and Rosco - and hidden - without their knowledge - with Boss and Rosco, and then the diamonds are turned over to the FBI…..but it’s not the real FBI, it’s the fake FBI. But then Bo and Luke get them back. Everybody got that? In the meantime we get one more childlike fun where Rosco asks Boss to play with a Bugs Bunny doll and Cletus is sent to fetch 7 Corndogs for lunch, 1 for Rosco and 6 for Boss, and line that defines the Dukes of Hazzard that made every kid my age believe that a real stud of a man didn’t throw footballs or play golf - they drove cars fast. 10 Dogs.

Car Movie Review:
Vince Vaughn and Kevin James play college best friends and entrepreneurs that are the classic Visionary/Integrator of successful business. Neither would be successful without the other! They go into business - to electrify Dodge muscle cars - that provide the sounds to fool the customer into thinking they’re listening to a V8 while they’re just hearing an electric motor spin. Did we mention this movie came out in 2011?

In between the car drama, Kevin James wife is cheating on him (and he's doing a few shameful things too). Vince Vaughn is stuck in the dilemma of trying to protect his best friend while dealing with the doubt of others from his past as a gambling addict. The end result is that we get an entirely movie of hilarity and HEMI powered classic Dodges - just for fun!

This movie has "real" other actors too! Winona Rider, Jennifer Connately, Channing Tatum, and Queen Latifah round out the ensemble. Even more impressive, the director was a big name too; Ron Howard! I’m telling you, in 2011 someone at Dodge saw this movie and just copied the whole thing. 14 years later, it’s a realty. The new 2025 Charger is electric and has a speaker system of V8 sounds. Even better, we get a bro movie between Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. The only thing that would make it better is if it were Paul Blart Mall Cop 3!

Dukes Review:
Bo and Luke are deputized to pay off a traffic citation while driving the General Lee naked and crashing into Rosco’s patrol car. As part of their new Deputy duties that are required to escort Public Enemy #1 from Springfield to Hazzard. This leads to them (kind of?) sexually harassing Dolly Parton’s sister. Following that, Dolly’s sister goes rogue and tries to kill Public Enemy #1. But then, it all works out and only the bad guy goes to prison, Dolly goes back to Springfield, and Waylon gets back to inappropriate comments about women (which is apparently OK in Season 1).

Dukes Review:
Actor Jonathan Frakes plays "Jamie Lee Hogg"….but of course he is better known to millions of loyal Trekkies and Commander William Riker of the Starship Enterprise (1701-D). That’s right. This is the Star Trek to Dukes of Hazzard crossover that will have Ryan Brutt and I on the same side of the fight….until this episode is over, of course.

Plot: Boss Hogg’s umpteenth previously unnamed nephew shows up in Hazzard to make some ill gotten gains…only to accidentally fall in love with Daisy Duke. That’s all well and good except Boss Hogg, Uncle Jessie, and all of the evil business partners are against it…and to make things worse, the evil guys want Daisy killed before she learns too much! But then the Hogg wants to marry the Duke and the evil partners think it’s so sweet. This leads to every body panel on Rosco’s patrol car being surgically removed in a hilarious fashion, a massive car chase, a few recycled car jumps, and a remarkable amount of improv by Tom and John. Oh, and they don't get married and live happily ever after, either. And by next weeks show this will all be long forgotten!

KF Episode Summary: 

This is our Tribute to the late great Gene Hackman! While he’s not a car star to us all his movie The French Connection is one the most iconic of it’s day. For many of us, he’s the best part about dozens of movies that we have loved for over 50 years!

From The French Connection to Hoosiers, The Replacements, Crimson Tide, even The Royal Tenenbaums, Gene's acting chops marked him as one of the best actors to ever grace the big screen. He'll be missed.

As we learned doing research, Gene actually WAS a car guy and had done a considerable amount of racing. He followed in the footsteps of Paul Newman and fell in love with amateur/celebrity racing initially, trained at the Bob Bondurant school, and  eventually became involved with Dan Gurney for celebrity and professional races with TOYOTA. 

We discussed Gene's awesome career in the episode and included a re-broadcast from The Kibbe and Finnegan Show where we had reviewed "The Replacements". This movie is the story we all want; a chance to live up to the potential of something that we loved from our youth and maybe came close to achieving, but for whatever reason failed at, or it fizzled out, or it just ended for reasons we couldn’t control. Keanu is honestly pretty good as a south-paw quarterback and it’s a great movie full of inspirational one-liners you’ll love to quote. KF Dukes Episode Summary: 

Once again we get an episode of the Dukes that’s racist and misogynistic (and by the way internet, that's a tongue-in-cheek joke that means the episode is the opposite thing). The Dukes meet a female NASCAR driver and have then do the unthinkable.......they just treat her as a complete equal and respect her highly!

Anyway, Daisy gets recruited by Molly Hargrove, a former lady NASCAR driver who needed a new driver to pay her bills…..at any cost.  Her plan is to teach Daisy how to win as a no good dirty evil driver…..someone so heinous they would spin people out on the last lap of the Daytona 500. Can you imagine such a thing? Anyway,  Boss Hogg weasels in on the deal, Bo and Luke beat up bad guys, Daisy quits and Daisy comes back home. This is the episode that made me think becoming a race car driver was super lucrative and that basically driving any car was like driving a stock car as long as it has a window net.

Movie Review: Days of Thunder

Note: This episodes features a rebroadcast of our review of Days of Thunder from KF Show 216. Just like Cole Trickle, we're more afraid of being nothing than we are of being hurt. Somehow....that makes this re-run make a lot more sense. Enjoy!

Summary: The team that brought you Top Gun, brings you Top Car - better known as Days of Thunder. Both movies feature a wildly talented but undisciplined rebel who is as awesome with driving machinery as he is with the ladies. Both feature a helmet-less motorcycle riding Tom Cruise as the lead who goes through massive success riding his own ego….until his butt can’t cash them when he gets hurt - in one case just mentally, and in the other physically. Both leave him scared to re-engage at the thing he does best...until he basically resolves it in about 20 seconds by realizing….he’d damn well better or his friends were going to die in one case, and in the other they’d just be super bummed they lost the race...and move on with life. Whatever.

Both feature a wise father figure Tom Cruise at first rejects the authority of, then later craves the leadership and approval from. Both have Val Kilmer as Iceman playing the uber talented and more successful nemesis turned friend….except in Days of Thunder it’s Michael Rooker playing Rowdy Burns, both have an amazing failure on the first try to woo the leading lady, and both have a dead goose scene...except in days of thunder it was just a bird run over by a rental car. This is the most perfect racing movie of all however, and even today still is adored by fans - and NASCAR drivers - including the current reigning NASCAR Cup Series Champion who goes by the name of Rowdy Busch...and runs number 51 on his own race cars outside of the Cup Series. This is the movie that proves to get the girls, you gotta go fast, and if you’re from California you’re not really a yankee...you’re not really from anywhere.

Classic Car Movie Review with Mike Finnegan: Groundhog Day

NOTE: This movie review was originally published in Episode 58 of the K&F show. We know that. You know that. It's like we're living the same day over and over, right?

K&F Show Summary:

It's February, the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500 are right around the corner, Valentine's Day is upon is, and once again Groundhog Day has come and gone. It's 6 more weeks of winter....again! This seemed like a perfect excuse to re-run our classic review of the movie of the same name.

What can we say that you don't know already about the movie Groundhog Day? As it turns out...plenty, but mostly because it amused us to do so. This is the epic fable of the blessing - or curse - of repeating a day over and over and over again. Bill Murray stars as the Phil the weatherman from Philly, sent to cover Phil the Groundhog from Punxsutawney give his annual weather prognostication. Only for Phil the weatherman, Phil the Groundhog causes him to re-live his day in Punxsutawney over, and over, and over again. He tries to eat, drink, and kill himself every day...but it fails. Only when he starts doing acts of service and kindness do things improve. Then he finds love and gets out of the cycle, conveniently about when the movie is ready to end. It's fantastic. There's a Chevy C-20 that bites it at one point too. And an Eldorado drives on train tracks. 10-out-of-10 Corndogs.

K&F Show Summary:
Every four years in the United States we swear in a Presidential administration and this year is no different. Donald Trump has become just the second person in U.S. history to serve in non-consecutive terms. We dug into that and other fun-filled Wikipedia facts about Presidential stuff. Also covered: Bernie on the News, January Celebrity Automotive Birthdays, and a review of the second episode of Tim Allen's new ABC car-themed sitcom: Shifting Gears. 

Dukes of Hazzard Episode Review:
This episode has everything. Small pushbar Generals, egregious use of the concept of amnesia, Voice impersonation as good - or better than - AI, and a clearly directed passenger side entry of the General by Daisy that doesn’t seem helpful in any way…..other than for where the camera was placed if you get by gist. Bo gets amnesia by hitting his head on a rock. In turn Boss convinces him that he is his loving father, and that be needs Bo to be a good son and drive a load of moonshine through Chickasaw county. What’s unbeknownst to Bo but knownst to us that Sheriff Little is there waiting for him….because he hates moonshiners.  This is a fun episode where there’s no point, there’s no lesson, and there’s no dramatic acting - in any way; it’s just just pure automotive escapism.
