In this episode Furns was joined by Matt and Ben to review the first 2 fixtures in the Jets A-League Men’s season and preview Round 3 against Sydney FC.
We started off with the F3 Derby, and our overall impressions of the game. Discussion moved to the disappointing performance of the team after a solid start and how the game then unfolded. We delved into the goals, before dissecting one of the most ridiculous VAR incidents in football. We then ended up on the penalty miss and the long ball upfield from which they scored the winning goal.
Then we moved on to a much happier experience against the Victory. We gave our thoughts on the lineup and spent most of the remainder of the episode waxing lyrical about Alex Badolato. The goals, the skills, the goals and the goals. And how we hope to be able to keep him for at least the season before someone steals him.
Lastly, we finished the episode by chatting about Sydney FC and giving our predictions for the game, the rest of the fixtures in Round 3 and then a quick chat about paper planes and $25k.

Newcastle United Jets FC 1 vs Central Coast Mariners 2 (ALW)
Newcastle United Jets FC 0 – Western Sydney Wanderers 1 (ALM)
Melbourne Victory 1 – Newcastle United Jets FC 1 (ALM)
In this episode Furns was joined by Matt and Ben to discuss the final two Jets games in the Mens regular season.
We started off with talking about the final home game against Western Sydney. Discussion included the performance of the team, before diverting down a few side roads about the coach, the players and their results recently compared to prior games. We got back on track and moved on after a chat about the stats.
Then we chatted over the final game of the Jets season away in Melbourne against the Victory. Did the players down tools? Was Rob Stanton able to keep his players focused until the final whistle? Did Matt get confused about who he was on the pod with? All these questions were answered and more!
We finished the episode by giving our predictions for the elimination finals and who would ultimately win the Grand Final.

We jumped straight into a dominant performance and score in the F3 Derby against the old enemy. Discussion included the starting lineup, being on it from the opening whistle, some player performances, all six goals and the flashpoints including a few tasty tackles and a red card for Roux lashing out at Timmins.
The Women were quickly mentioned, who lost last week against Melbourne City and we hope that they can put in a score similar to the Men’s in the final game of the regular season in their F3 Derby in Maitland.
Then we previewed Sunday’s away match in Sydney for the Men and gave our predictions for the rest of Round 27.

In this episode Furns is joined by Andy and Clarkey after a few weeks off to chat over all the games we missed in the Mens competition.
Talk started with a great crowd and result in the Matildas friendly against Korea in Newcastle, and fantastic news that Dr Emma is now engaged!! Much congratulations to the happy couple 🙂
Then we moved onto the games that took place while we have been off (again!!) starting with a smash-and-grab away win vs City, a smashing at home against WU and dropping points against Macarthur which nearly made Furns smash his TV.
We all gave our opinions on those games and whether minimal changes to the starting lineups may have contributed to some of the performances.
Chat then moved on to the home loss against Phoenix. We discussed the starting lineup, performances, goals, and flashpoints including a yellow card for simulation to Kota despite having clearly been tripped by a defender. We also discussed whether we are still a realistic chance of making the finals.
Then we talked about our recent Jets CEO appointment Tain Drinkwater who arrives with an impressive CV and local knowledge. A bit of time was spent delving into the news around Rob Stanton leaving at the end of the season, some of the possible reasons and rumours behind why, and who might  come in to replace him.
To wrap things up we previewed Saturday’s F3 Derby for the Men and gave our predictions for the rest of Round 26.

In this episode Furns is joined by Dr Emma after a week off for the bye to chat over the home draw against league leaders Auckland in the Mens, and two wins in the Womens against Perth and Sydney.
Talk moved into a mixed performance against the new boys Auckland where we started well and scored and then momentum shifting to the away side after a penalty save. We discussed the condition of the pitch, the starting lineup, performances at various stages of the game, game stats, scoring, having a penalty saved then conceding (again!!) before halftime, and then having a man advantage for 20 minutes but not being able to make it count.
We then moved on to discussing two great results for the Women’s team against Perth and Sydney at home, whats been the catalyst for the change in fortune, then we previewed the away fixture in Brisbane against the Roar.
Then we moved onto previewing two games in four days for the Men who have to travel away to Melbourne to face City on Wednesday, then back home again to face Western on Sunday. We chatted over what rotation we would be likely to see over the two games, as well as who the opposition could field.
We finished off the episode by discussing the recent news regarding the speculation around Rob Stanton’s future at the club as he has been reported to have signed his extension but still may leave at the end of the season if he feels the club isnt going to invest in the coaching team to enable the team to improve into the future.

McDonald Jones Stadium, Broadmeadow, NSW
In this episode Furns is joined by Matt to chat over the away win in Hindmarsh against Adelaide and preview Friday nights Mens fixture against Brisbane.
Talk moved straight into an interesting game and a second win in a row for the Mens. We discussed the starting lineup and changes, being under pressure in the first half, scoring then inevitably conceding before halftime, and going ahead again 10 minutes into the second half before holding on to claim all three points. We also talked over some of the performances of the players and subs and some stats from the game.
Unfortunately as we were on a time constraint we were unable to provide much more than a score on the Women vs Wanderers. There is no ALW match this weekend.
Then we finished off the episode previewing the fixture at MJS under lights this Friday night vs Brisbane in the Mens – giving our thoughts on possible lineups, performances and whether historical hoodoos count for anything. Gates open at 6pm and its 20% off food and beverages for the first hour.

Coopers Stadium, Hindmarsh, SA
In this episode Furns is joined by Clarkey and a returning Dr Em to chat over the double-header at McDonald Jones Stadium and preview the two away games this weekend for the Mens & Womens teams
It was prudent to start off the episode, after welcoming back Dr Em, by discussing the medical situation in the stadium during the final 20 minutes of the Mens game before getting into the football. We covered off all the details that had been publicised in the days since the game took place but its fantastic news that the young man involved was on the mend and doing well.
Talk moved on to an exciting game and a win in the Mens. We discussed the starting lineup, being under pressure in the first half, then dominating large portions of the second half, some of the performances of the players and subs and some stats from the game.
As we had Dr Em back, we got her thoughts as well as Clarkeys on the Womens loss against City, then the season overall, before previewing the away game in Western Sydney against the Wanderers.
Then we finished off the episode previewing the away fixture in SA in the Mens – giving our thoughts on possible lineups, formations and who needs to out in some good performances against a strong Adelaide side.
We cut the segment on predictions for the rest of the A-League Men round this weekend due to time (again!)

The Jetstream Podcast – AMA Ep 2 with Maurice Bisetto

Furns (@JetstreamNewy) welcomes back Executive Director Maurice Bisetto to discuss everything @NewcastleJetsFC #NTUA #VamosElJerkos
Furns is joined again by Maurice Bisetto, for another wide-ranging chat a few months after the first AMA and nearly nine months after the Maverick Sports Partners takeover of the Newcastle United Jets FC.
We cover off the search for a new CEO, how the club is currently structured behind the scenes, developments, areas of success and potential areas for improvement, corporate and sponsorship programs, the Academy and role of the Director of Football, recruitment of staff and players and how that might change and the social media policy and enforcement. Also within the discussion we asked your questions that were submitted via the forums and social media channels.
For the video links for this interview please click here https://wp.me/paT4u-1jj
Thank you to everyone who sent in their questions, we got through as many as we could within the time we had with Maurice. And thank you to Maurice for his time and as well to Matt from the Jets for helping with organising the interview.

No week off this time around, so in this episode Furns is joined by Matt to chat over the F3 Derby games in Gosford and any news that has cropped up in the last 7 days.
We very quickly mentioned the Womens derby game where we unfortunately lost 5-1 to the Mariners, however as we didnt watch the game we couldnt go into any depth on the performance.
Then we talked over a comeback 2-2 away derby draw in the Mens. We discussed the starting lineup, starting well (again!) in the first half, conceding twice then coming back in the second half, some of the performances and some stats from the game.
Then we finished off the episode previewing the home double fixture on Saturday with the Men playing Victory and the Women playing City, giving our thoughts on possible lineups, formations and who needs to out in some good performances.
Unfortunately we cut the segment on predictions for the rest of the A-League Men round this weekend due to time (again!)

The podcast is back (again!) after a week off, Furns is joined by Matt and Clarkey (again!) to chat over the games and news that took place in the last fortnight.
We quickly mentioned an awful game away from home where we lost 3-1 to Western United in Tarneit, spending very little time dissecting a disappointing performance from a Jets perspective.
Then we talked in some depth about the 2-2 home draw against Perth. We discussed the starting lineup, starting well (again!) in the first half and scoring before conceding twice, improved player performances, our two new players and some of the stats from the game.
The conversation then turned to more news around the club regarding transfers and a possible centre back option which might not be a dead deal as has been reported.
We quickly covered off some of the Womens results and performances overall since Christmas/New Year that we werent able to get to last episode due to time.
Then we finished off the episode previewing the away F3 Derby match vs the Mariners and giving our thoughts on possible lineups, formations and who needs to out in some good performances.
Unfortunately we cut the segment on predictions for the rest of the A-League Men round this weekend due to time (again!)

ALW – 2pm AEDST
Sunday 19th January 2025
Porirua Park, Porirua, NZ
We are back!! After about a month off for Christmas/New Year/moving house commitments, Furns is joined by Matt and Clarkey to chat over all the games and news that took place since we last recorded in December.
Seeing as we hadn’t recorded an episode in a month we jumped into summarising the run of games that took place since our last episode. A emphatic 4-0 away win against Perth, followed by a 2-1 away loss to Phoenix, then a 2-all home draw against Sydney FC and an away win 1-0 against Brisbane.
We then talked in some depth about the 3-1 home loss against Macarthur. We talked about the starting lineup, starting well and scoring before conceding three goals, tactics, player performances and some of the stats from the game.
The conversation then turned to the news around the club regarding the transfer window and some possible incomings, before switching to a discussion on recent social media controversies.
We then finished off a bumper episode previewing the away match vs Western United and giving our predictions for the rest of the games this week.
Unfortunately we were unable to discuss anything to do with the Women’s team due to the episode already being nearly two hours!!
We hope all our listeners and contributors had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and we thank you for continuing to engage with our humble little podcast into 2025 and beyond.

The Jetstream Podcast S20 Ep1 – Is It The Vibes?

Furns (@JetstreamNewy) Matt (@Ego2k) & Andy (@ajlane1) catch up to preview the 2024/25 @NewcastleJetsFC @Aleaguemen season #NEWvMCY #NTUA #VamosElJerkos
Furns welcomes back Matt and Andy to preview the season ahead for the mighty Newcastle United Jets FC.
We start off by having a chat about the Australia Cup, preseason friendlies and some of the player movements before diving into the situation around the club now the ownership has been sorted.
The conversation then turned to the rest of the clubs in the league, and how the sizeable reduction in the grant from the APL is going to effect some clubs fortunes in the season ahead.
We then also talked about the news breaking about the departure of the Mariners owner and how their season could unfold or unravel.
Discussion then switched back to the Jets where we then moved on to more talk about the players before getting into a quick preview for the first home game of the season against Melbourne City at home.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their questions, we got through as many as we could within the time we had with Maurice. And thank you to Maurice for his time and as well to Matt and Tom from the Jets for helping with organising the interview.
