Before ascending into heaven, Jesus wanted to drove home some final points with Peter. He had come very far, but still had much to learn. Likewise, there were things he knew, that he needed a reminder of.

Jesus shifts the focus in His Farewell Discourse with His disciples to begin warning them about the hardships that would soon come upon them. Yet amidst all of the warnings, He continues to emphasize the ministry of the Helper; the Holy Spirit. While our hardships may be different, the Helper remains the same.
Jesus strongly emphasizes on His last night with His disciples the need for them to love one another. He simply calls it “His commandment.” How well are we keeping His commandment?
In John's only recorded parable, Jesus lays out the key to abiding in His Joy. Simply by abiding in Him.
Jesus told His disciples that He would not leave them as orphans. Though He was leaving, they would neither be powerless nor alone. He was leaving them with many precious promises.
Jesus declared that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that He is the one and only way to the Father. Here lies the core of the Gospel. What do we believe?
As Jesus and His disciples left the upper room, He begins His final discourse with them and begins by trying to comfort their hearts. They were probably upset by some of the events that had already happened and that He said was coming, so He pointed them to His return for His Church.
It is the Last Supper. Jesus warns of His betrayal and Judas leaves the room. Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper and then gives a “new commandment;” for His disciples to love one another, as He loved them. What is this love and how can we love others so?
At the Last Supper, John alone records the washing of the Disciples feet. While a simple act, it is filled with lessons for us to learn.
As Jesus closes His public Ministry, He gives one last call to all who would hear Him.
Jesus set His face like flint for Jerusalem and once there, He set it for the cross. He knew why He came into this world and what He had to do. But in His last public address, one last time He bids His hearers to come with Him. To come and die, to pick up their cross and follow Him.
Jesus arrived in Jerusalem at the very day and hour that He had planned from before tome began. Nothing could stop His perfect plan from happening and nothing will stop Him the next time He comes. We may not know the day and hour like we did for Palm Sunday, but we know the times and seasons.

Here in John 17 we see Jesus ministering to two very different women. He loves them both and meets them both right where they are at. He ministers to their unique personalities. He loved each of then individually and He loves you too.
It can be difficult to trust God when times are hard. Especially when you can't understand why things are happening the way they are.
In Jesus’ final encounter with the Pharisees before the Passion week, He boldly claims to be one with God. They want to stone Him, but they can't, because His time has not yet come and the Scripture cannot be broken.
