The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

This week, we’re heading back to Elm Street for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors — the sequel that cranked up the dream logic, the special effects, and Freddy’s sense of humor.

We break down what makes this one such a fan favorite, including:
🔥 The birth of Freddy’s iconic one-liners (and how they changed the franchise)
🚫 Why no adults die — including that orderly who 100% deserved it
⚔️ Our wish for a longer, more epic final fight with Freddy
🧠 The mix of practical effects, surreal dream sequences, and ‘80s charm that still holds up
💀 And plenty more Elm Street mayhem and movie madness

🎥 Watch the full, unedited review: sequelsonly.com/nightmare3

🎭 Next Up: Renegade: Fighting Cage 💪
We’re chatting with Lori Fetrick — aka “Ice” from American Gladiators!
Lori shared amazing stories about life in the Gladiator arena, appearing on Letterman, winning a bodybuilding competition (spoiler: she crushed it), and her journey into acting.

Next week , we’re heading back to dreamland with Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors — but this week, we’re talking with the legendary production designer and art director Mick Strawn.

If you love ‘80s horror, practical effects, or behind-the-scenes movie chaos, this one’s for you. Mick’s been part of so many cult classics, from Runaway Train and Blade to his unforgettable work on A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & 4.

👻 His newest project, Solitude, now streaming on Tubi — a haunting story that blends isolation, suspense, and Mick’s signature visual style

Tron Legacy

This week, we’re logging back into the Grid for Tron: Legacy — Disney’s big-budget sequel that’s equal parts visual feast and plot puzzle. With a soundtrack by Daft Punk, digital Jeff Bridges, and light cycles that make zero sense, this movie is definitely something to behold.

We cover it all, including:
💻 A story that feels like it was written by a malfunctioning AI
💇 Olivia Wilde’s very 2010 haircut (and somehow, it’s part of the plot?)
🎭 Michael Sheen channeling Mugatu energy like he’s in Zoolander: The Grid Edition
🦸 Sam Flynn acting like a full-blown superhero instead of a confused arcade kid
👾 Gorgeous visuals, confusing dialogue, and the best soundtrack to ever score nonsense
⚡ And so much more digital chaos you’ll either love or question forever

Actor Conrad Coates (Tron:Legacy/Fargo/Revival)

Next week we’re diving into the digital frontier with Tron: Legacy - but this week, we’re talking with the incredible actor Conrad Coates.

You’ve seen Conrad in everything from Fargo (alongside Jon Hamm) to Star Trek: Discovery, Narcos, The Expanse, and more. Beyond his screen credits, he’s also shaping the next generation of talent through his Coates and Company Acting Studio.

Conrad shared so many fascinating stories, including:

⚡ What it was like working with Jon Hamm on Fargo
🎸 Watching Wood Harris embody Jimi Hendrix in Hendrix
🎬 His approach to teaching and mentoring actors at Coates and Company
🌀 Behind-the-scenes reflections on projects like Tron: Legacy and other genre favorites

The Birds 2: Land's End

This week, we’re braving the beaks and feathers in a sequel no one really asked for — The Birds II: Land’s End.
It’s part family drama, part Hitchcock homage, and part “why are these seagulls so angry?” energy.

We covered it all, including:
🐦 Birds that seem more annoyed than terrifying (but hey, they try)
🏡 A seaside town that somehow feels less safe than Bodega Bay
📞 The original Birds star Tippi Hedren showing up… but not as her original character
🎬 The director using a pseudonym because, well, let’s just say it’s not Hitchcock-level suspense
✨ And plenty more sequel strangeness that flaps right off the rails

K-9:P.I.

This week, we’re sniffing out crime in the final chapter of the cop-and-canine saga — K-9: P.I. starring Jim Belushi.
It’s part buddy cop movie, part midlife crisis, and part “wait… is that the same dog from the original?” energy.

We covered it all, including:
🍇 Jim Belushi proving that a true bachelor dinner is just a box of raisins
🐕 The mystery of whether this really is the same dog from K-9 or just Hollywood trickery
💔 The shocking absence of a love interest (seriously, none?!)
🦹 A villain so terrible you’ll wonder if they wandered in from a straight-to-DVD spy spoof

Actor Matthew Bennett (Battlestar Galactica/K:9 PI/Orphan Black)

Next week, we are sniffing out crime with K-9 PI, but this week we are talking with actor Matthew Bennett.

You may recognize Matthew from Battlestar Galactica, Just One of the Girls (with Corey Haim), and K-9 PI. Today, he balances his acting career with a passion for photography — but he’s still booking new roles, most recently on Law & Order Toronto.

Matthew shared so many great stories, including:

  • Working alongside Corey Haim on Just One of the Girls

  • The role that literally got him an air conditioner

  • His time on K-9 PI and stepping into sequels with a loyal four-legged co-star

  • His ongoing photography career and creative projects

The Neverending Story III

This week, we’re diving into a wild and often-forgotten sequel — The NeverEnding Story III.

Yes, it’s the one with Jack Black, Barky the tree, and enough shopping montages to qualify as a 90s time capsule. And while this one didn’t hit U.S. theaters, it’s a ride that has to be seen to be believed (and you can still watch it free on YouTube 👀).

We covered it all, including:
🌳 Barky stealing every scene as everyone’s favorite wooden sidekick
🎭 Jack Black absolutely crushing it as the over-the-top villain
🪄 The jaw-dropping Jim Henson puppetry that still holds up today
🛍️ Shopping montages galore (because why not?)

Actress Melody Kay (Camp Nowhere/Neverending Story III)

Next week, we’re heading back to Fantasia (and a little ‘90s nostalgia) with The NeverEnding Story III — and for it, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with actress Melody Kay.

You may know Melody from Camp Nowhere or The NeverEnding Story III, but after an early rise in Hollywood, she stepped away from acting to raise her family. Now she’s back and starring in the new film Round the Decay.

Melody opened up about:

  • How she landed her breakout roles in the ‘90s

  • Behind-the-scenes chaos and fun from Camp Nowhere and The NeverEnding Story III

  • What it was like to work internationally at such a young age

  • Why she decided to step away from Hollywood and what brought her back

Muppets' Wizard of Oz

🎭 This Week’s Sequel: The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz

It’s our first-ever Muppet sequel, and what a wild ride it is! This week, we're diving into The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz — the film that gave the world the gift of Pepe the King Prawn, and for that alone, we are thankful. 🦐

We break down all the felt-covered chaos, including:

🎤 Miss Piggy’s absolutely wild rock ballad
👠 The surprisingly adult humor (seriously, this one’s spicy for a Muppet movie)
🐶 The mysterious absence of Rowlf
🌀 And the insane twist ending: Wait... this actually happened?!

To go with it, we had the pleasure of chatting with the film’s star — Melody Kay (Camp Nowhere, anyone?). Melody talked about her early rise in Hollywood, stepping away from acting, and what inspired her to recently jump back in.

  • The process of turning a script into wearable storytelling

  • How costume departments prep for stunts before anyone even yells “action”

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

This week, I cashed in a Hall Pass and picked a sequel that’s part slasher, part tropical fever dream — "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." With a new entry in the franchise on the horizon, there’s no better time to revisit the wild ride that is winning a mysterious trip to an abandoned island resort during hurricane season.

To help unravel this Rube Goldberg chain of Hook Man chaos, we brought back our horror sequel expert Chris Egan. We cover everything from:

  • Why you maybe should tell your family before skipping town

  • That weird dummy in the road

  • Jeffrey Combs crushing it as the creepiest hotel manager ever

  • The world’s worst resort staff

  • And of course... Jack Black in dreadlocks (yikes)

Return to Frogtown

This week, we are discussing a sequel that gave us some pretty insane frog inspired songs, "Return to Frogtown". This one really got under Jamie's skin and we had a bad movie sequel expert Nick join us as well to break down everything this one threw at us. We talked the terrible flying, the lack of fight scenes, a twist that Doug thought happened but didn't, a half frog/half woman, and a ton more.
