Testing, Nutrient Gaps & Smarter Supplement Choices with Dr. Douglas Kalman, PhD, RD (ep – 73)

When it comes to deciding if and when to supplement, the answer isn’t one-size-fits-all. To do things right, it's important to know how nutrient needs vary across life stages, lifestyles, and health conditions. In this episode, Dr. Ginger Hultin sits down once again with Dr. Douglas Kalman, an expert in nutritional neuroscience and supplements, to explore the practical side of supplementation. From athletes and young professionals to pregnant women and older adults, they discuss who can benefit most, what nutrients often fall short, and how testing can personalize your approach. Dr. Kalman also explains why supplement quality matters, from the forms of vitamins and minerals on the label to third-party certifications that help ensure safety. If you’ve ever wondered whether supplements could support your long-term health, or how to choose the right ones with confidence, this conversation offers insights you can trust.

In this episode, we’ll cover:
