Rev. Mykal O'Neal Slack is the Community Minister for Worship & Spiritual Care for Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism, an organization and growing spiritual community that provides support, resources, and care for Black UUs across the diaspora. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the YARN worship team and the UU Mental Health Network lead a mental health-centered service for people of all ages on May 16 at 5 pm pacific time / 8 pm eastern time. This service won’t be all doom and gloom; it will include real, frank discussions of mental health. The Rev. Barbara F. Meyers is a Unitarian Universalist Community Minister. She earned a Masters of Divinity from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley in 2004 and launched a community ministry specializing in mental health. She is affiliated with Mission Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Fremont, California. She is assistant director of the Life Reaching Across to Life peer support center, the author of a mental health curriculum for congregations. The book “Held – Showing Up for each Other’s Mental Health” published by Skinner House Books in July 2020. She is the President of the Board of the UU Mental Health Network.
