It is a fun time.

I went down to the beach and saw Sue. She was all like Ehh and I'm like whatever and this is guy comes up to me while wearing my leather and he's all like death is a manifestation of our own child alien and I'm like... whatever. Whatever indeed as tonight we look at a navel gazing anime from the 90s-- a first, but not a last for us. We get into the philosophy of our times and more as we have a laugh brought to us by self-serious anime done in by bad acting, bad writing, bad....well
It's kinda like a love song (crazy old fashioned love song). Tonight we head to the great north and visit what some sources have called "a movie too Canadian for it's own good." Tonight we discover a hidden gem and hopefully you do too as this movie is too go to not share. Tonight we look at Last Night, a very 90s indie movie about what to do with the last hours on earth. A familiar concept for us, but a very different take then we have seen this far...and will likely see again. You can find the movie via the link here: https://youtu.be/RhNpt1GRWwM?si=8SDCtnweXuHqk6yjIt is worth your time and hopefully you felt our show was as well. Next week we head to 90s Japan and look at our first post-apocalyptic anime: A Wind Named Amnesia
Them bones are me, some say Doom Runners is an amazing movie. Tonight we feel so alone talkin' about this hidden gem from the 90s. What is Mad Max was for kids? That's the question we seek to answer this week. In addition, this week we dive into core 90s memories, our love of New Zealand, and one of Tim Curry's best movies.
War...what is it good for? Vaporizing all of the humans! Good god! Tonight we visit the frontlines one last time as we look at the OG aliens invade movie War of the Worlds from 1953. We dive into the original casting choices, how formative the sound effects turned out to be, report on the national guard being deployed, and find the time to gush over 50s science fiction films. It is a fun time.
Heartbreaker, you've got the best of me, But I just keep coming back incessantly, Oh, why did you have to run your game on me? I guess you are just War of the Worlds from 2005. Tonight we go back 20 years, holy carp I'm old, to the world of 2005 where we find a land recovering from the shock that was 9/11. Huh...a world in shock reeling from an event that took place 4 years prior... maybe this movie does have a lot in common with the 2025 version? Tonight we tackle the important topics like: looking at the filmography of two heavy hitters in the film world, the consequences of couch jumping, if Dakota Fanning is unfairly derided, why this endings sucks a big one, how we would rewrite this movie and make it more pro military. It is a fun time.
Hanging down on the corner of 52nd and Broadway, cars passing bye and I wish one of them would hit me after sitting through 89 mins of this advertisement funded by billionaires. Less a movie and more of an example of late stage capitalism run amok---less of a review and more of support meeting for those recovering from shock. This movie is a sight to behold. Tonight we get into whateverinthehell this is and somehow make it out on the other side. God speed. Next week we look at the 2005 version of the HG Wells novel
As we go on, we remember, All the times we had together, And as our lives change, come whatever, We will still be Apes forever. Tonight we wrap up series on the original Planet of the Apes series with number 5: Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Tonight we talk about flying domestically, James Joyce, what pretension looks like, and change our opinion on this often derided movie. Next week we look at a new film: War of the Worlds from 2025
I would like to reach out my hand, Oombayseeyou, oombaytellyou to run (on my way, on my way), Omabadee, seemoobadeeyah told me to watch Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Tonight we learn about the, in my opinion, best Planet of the Apes movie. The ins, the outs, the cast, the social allegory and more. Along the way we make badly timed jokes, understand that violence is a language, and learn about exposition dumps--it is a good time.
Who are the cats that won't cop out when there's danger all about? (Shaft) Right on They say this cat is a bad mother (shut your mouth) I'm talkin' 'bout Final Picture Show Podcast (then dig it) tonight at the show we do something completely different as we look at another kind of sequel: Shaft's Big Score. Come along as we dive into amazing brown leather dusters, classy sex scenes, funky jazz soundtracks, and how to get one over on the honkeys, it is a fun time.Next week we get back into the time machine and return to the 1970s to watch Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.
Zero hour, 9 a.m, And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then, I miss the Earth so much, I miss my wife-- It's lonely out in space so we Escaped and ended up in the 70s, and things are not going well. But that's okay we have a classic movie to watch. Come along tonight as we see what adventures the apes get into in this tonal distinct movie in the Apes series. We talk about young actors dying too soon, budget issues, 70s sitcoms, why I'm not allowed to suggest movie ideas and more It's a fun time.
Going deeper, deeper underground and deep enough we shall go. Deep enough to run into Charlton Heston lookalikes and our friend Precious D @mmftg . Tonight on the show we check our pulses amidst the chaos around us, but stop and smell the roses...the roses in this cases being Kim Hunter and Ted Post and others responsible for this not bad, not good follow up to a scifi classic.
Tonight we fall into the freezing chamber and awake in a time of Apes....honestly a little hostile. But along the way we make friends and foes, discover that Apes can drive and wear suits, and they can falsely blame others. We also stumble down small cliffs, encounter wish granting flying saucers and discover that time does in fact mean shit all. It is a funny time at A-P-E Corral tonight.
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in and it turns out to not be good, but perhaps that is due to all the monkeying around we had to do to get this episode out-- the Apes were not on our side tonight, but the show must go on and go on it. And go on it does, as tonight we talk about Twilight Zone, recommendations, movies that have aged poorly, scaring your fellow man for the hell of it, and much much more as we look at one of the more important movies ever made: Planet of the Apes
One toke over the line sweet Jesus, one toke over the line, sitting down in a railway station, one toke over the line-- Tonight we wish we were one toke over the line, as it would have helped explain the movie this evening: Terminus. Cool name, confusing movie. This evening we laugh over bad Spirit Halloween wigs, bond over not understanding what is going on, share our fear of AI flesh mouths and more. Next week we celebrate our 1 year anniversary by watching the Planet of the Apes movies all month long.
The chemicals between us, the walls that lie between us, lying in this bed make me realize that the 2008 remake of seminal Sci-Fi movie the Day the Earth Stood Still might be one of the worst movies ever made. Tonight on the show we talk about Keanu--- that's all! Well actually we find some time to talk about the other wasted talent surround this picture. As well as annoying kids that talk about dead dads, set a rate for degrading ourselves, and discuss how this might very well be the worst Keanu movie ever made, and maybe the worst movie in the last 20 years.
I know I'd go from rags to riches, If you would only say you care. And though my pocket may be empty, I'd be a millionaire on the day the earth stood still. Tonight we dive into the world of the 1950s and see how little has changed. We also get into our weekly sign of the apocalypse, the end of WW2 and fears of the bomb, why casting a Brit as an Alien always works out, Orson Wells and RKO’s placement in the world of 50s Sci-fi, and Christ allegories hidden in plain sight.
Next week we look at the 2008 remake of this film.
