In this episode, I’m sharing my thoughts on something that’s been frustrating me lately. That weird combination of compliment and comparison. You know the kind: “You’re so brave, I could never do that.”
I talk about why that mindset can hold us back, how confidence actually develops through action (not waiting until we feel ready), and why assuming things are easier for others keeps us stuck.
I also open up about my own experiences with fear, insecurity, and being misunderstood as “confident” when I was really just taking action anyway. I wasn’t confident when I started. I was scared, too. A little lost, overwhelmed, not sure where to start, and terrified of making a mistake. If I can do it, so can you! My hope is that this conversation empowers you to stop comparing, start experimenting, and move toward what lights you up. Even if it scares you a little.
Takeaways:
Stop assuming someone else “has it easier.” You have what it takes, too.
Fear and self-doubt are normal; they don’t mean you’re on the wrong path.
Do it scared. You don’t have to feel confident or ready before you start. You can choose to take action anyway.
Start small. Choose a baby step that’s small enough to be doable, but still big enough to be intimidating. Choose something that will stretch, but not break, you.
Know you’ll fall down. Look, “failing” is just a part of learning. Every baby falls down while they’re learning to walk. So, expect yourself to fall a few times when you’re learning something new. It’s all part of the process.
