In this powerful and tender episode, we explore the sobriety journey through the lens of being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP).
I’m joined by Kristy Sarausky, who shares her personal experience with quitting alcohol and how sensitivity shaped — and ultimately supported — her path toward healing, self-compassion, and empowerment.
We talk about the emotional roots of drinking for HSPs, especially when there's a lack of connection to self, community, and deeper meaning. Together, we dive into the challenges of navigating social life as a non-drinker, the myth that introverts aren't "fun," and how sobriety invites us to rewrite old stories and reclaim our boundaries.
Whether you're exploring sobriety, questioning your relationship with alcohol, or simply navigating the world as a sensitive soul, this conversation is here to remind you: you are not alone, and your sensitivity is a strength.
In this episode, we explore:
Alcohol as an escape for HSPs
Lack of connection and meaning as a root of addiction
Navigating social events as a sober introvert
The belief that sensitive people or introverts aren't fun
Setting boundaries and honoring your needs
The mother wound and its link to addiction
Is rock bottom necessary to quit drinking?
Self-compassion and emotional healing
Sobriety as a creative and spiritual awakening
Creating a supportive environment for recovery

This episode is for you if you’ve ever told yourself: “It’s just once a week.” “Maybe I just need to try harder.” “Why am I so tired after something that was supposed to be fun?”
In this honest and tender reflection, I share my own journey with subtle energy drains—from improv classes to social time with friends to even how I was walking my dog. As HSPs and neurodivergent creatives, we often override our needs in the name of “normal,” only to spiral into exhaustion, melancholy, or creative block.
You’ll hear:
How I recognized the hidden cost of doing too much
What overstimulation really steals from us (not just time, but joy)
Why rest isn’t optional—it’s sacred
Reflections and boundary questions inspired by Debbie Ford’s 10 questions
How all this impacts our ability to create from a place of pleasure
If you’ve been questioning your rhythms, your limits, your capacity—this is a gentle reminder that protecting your energy is part of your art.
This episode is about reclaiming space, voice, and truth—especially as a neurodivergent creative tired of unfairness, ableism, and being made to feel the world isn’t built for us. We talk resistance, sensitivity, and how even the hurt can hold creative power. What if your way is the revolution?

When we venture into new projects, and things don’t go our way; when we want something so badly, and it’s not happening; when things get taken away from us, when the rug pulls out from under our feet so to speak, it can all feel very disempowering. As someone who’s been through countless transformations, this is one big shift that has been amongst the most powerful.
Once we shift from trying to push against the river’s current to flowing with it, things begin to get much more exciting for us.

A bit about Charlie: she is a highly intuitive, sensitive, yet practical coach who brings the woo together with the do. She is a Human Design expert and at the core of Charlie's message is the understanding that many individuals grapple with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, often exacerbated by comparison culture.
A marketer in her corporate career, Charlie has spent her life trying to understand why she is so different and found the answer in her experimentation with the Human Design system which has enabled her to stop feeling stressed and bitter, and live with ease in all aspects of life.

Switching from Inner Critic to Inner Loving as a default mode changed my life. It is like the roots of a tree, healthily planted into the ground, and nourished by a fertile soil.
From this self-love, everything else will grow and flow through you. I know it sounds cliché, but love is truly the biggest creative force in the world.
Yes, love has this magical power, and as I write this, I can't help but smile at the irony of me preaching this concept. I used to be a cynical and sarcastic teenager who didn't believe in love.
It took me many, many years and a lot of heartache to realize that this cynicism was in fact a way to keep myself small. To build walls around my heart.
Also, trying something new with this episode: I thought I'd share a painting + drawing process as backdrop to the recoding!

In this episode, I talk about what I think about putting such a strong emphasis on manifestation, and how it can be damaging to our mental health as Highly Sensitive and Creative souls.
And how I like to reframe it for a more empowered energy.
