In a previous episode of the EcoSend Podcast, we learned that around 250,000 new websites are built every day..!
The Sustainability credentials of such websites are rarely, if ever, taken into consideration. Many website builders focus on competitive feature 'arms-races', particularly the race to implement AI as quickly and as far-reaching as possible.
Fortunately, not all website builders have fallen into this. And that is just what our latest guest on the EcoSend Podcast is here to talk to us about.
Jesse Ramon Brown is the founder and CEO of Enverse Labs and Sprout, the no-code platform that lets anyone build sustainable, accessible, and high-performance websites in just minutes.
Sprout websites have an average weight of just 35KB, remarkably lower than the standard website averages.
So please join us for this fascinating episode as James sat down with Jesse to discuss topics including:
🇪🇸 The Renewable energy startup scene in Spain
💚 Incorporating Sustainability and Accessibility at the heart of Sprout's practises
👣 Jesse's journey to founding Sprout
🕵️♂️ Finding Product-Market-Fit
🌊 The power of the 'Ripple Effect' in Digital Sustainability
... and much more! ✨
We're so excited to see what the future holds for Sprout, who are pioneering a novel approach to building websites, which are better for both people and planet. We hope you enjoy the episode 💚

As AI continues to dominate headlines across the Tech Space, and with seismic new technologies being introduced on almost a weekly basis, we are delighted to welcome another expert in the AI and Digital Sustainability space, for episode seven of this season.
Matt Ville is CTO & Founder at Hiyield, a B Corp based in Cornwall UK, who create bespoke websites and apps, designed with sustainability at their core.
The meteoric rise of AI poses many questions to Digital Sustainability. ChatGPT-3 is 10 times more energy demanding than a Google search, and training ChatGPT-4 is estimated to have used 50 times more energy than training the previous model.
Many major tech companies find themselves struggling to meet net-zero commitments due to increased data and computing power demands.
But is it that straight-forward? Is AI a villain and dire threat to Sustainability, or can its power be harnessed for good?
Do join us for this fascinating episode as James sat down with Matt to try to answer that question, as well as topics including:
👣 Matt's journey to founding HiYield
🌟 Bringing Purpose to the forefront of the HiYield brand
👧 Generational shifts in the workforce, and the rise of interest in Sustainability from the younger generation
🌱 The rise of AI alternatives to challenge the dominant LLMs
📔 The need for clear guidelines are fair usage of AI
... and much more! ✨
The nature of AI's role in our future remains very uncertain. Whether positive or negative, its effects will certainly be wide-reaching. A big thank you to Matt for joining us for this episode, and for bringing his expertise to a help clarify such a complex discussion. We hope you enjoy the episode 💚

"We're building the 'TooGoodToGo' for the Creative Material industry!"
Waste is a massive, global problem.
Across the world, ton after ton of high-quality material is sent to landfill or incinerators.
And yet concurrently, there is a huge demand for creative material; ranging from different fabrics, leather, paper, and more.
Seeing the challenge of these two extremes, one company in particular is fighting to bridge the gap. And that is 'Renée Materials', co-created by our sixth guest of the season, Frieda Bischoff.
Renee is a digital platform that enables companies to sell their leftover, surplus stock and offcut waste to be reused. So instead of being sent to landfill, surplus materials can be purchased at a great price, and re-enter the market.
We were delighted Frieda joined us for this episode, and sat down with James to discuss:
🌲 Her childhood growing up in the Black Forest of Germany
⚠️ 'The Rebound Effect', and why giving things away for free can be a BAD thing
💰 Why Sustainable options must also be competitively priced
🥊 Fighting as a competitor to Amazon
🔄 The role which Circular Economy will play in our future
... and much more! ✨

Driven by his love of nature, and time as a mountaineering guide in Chile, Sergio gave us a fascinating episode as he dove into his journey to founding GrowBetter Agency, and his many lessons learned along the way.

Even in 2025, awareness of the carbon footprint of Digital activity seems to remain in its infancy.
As the world slowly wakes up to the reality of the Climate Challenge, many of us in the Digital space find that Sustainability efforts lag behind other sectors.
But with over 250,000 new websites being created every DAY, the carbon impact of our online activity is monumental.
Fortunately, there are trailblazing companies out there, striving to bring eco-design and ethical principles to Digital products. And one of those voices is the team at Creek & Pine - Croatia’s first digital agency that designs and builds low carbon, accessible, beautiful websites based on ethically sourced and used data.
So join James as he sat down with Martina Dodo and Martina Nemcic to discuss:

Fortunately, there are some companies out there actively looking to address these concerns. And one of those companies is spear-headed by our third guest of this season; Robert Keus of GreenPT.
A seasoned entrepreneur, Robert and his team are on a mission to release the first climate-conscious AI platform, and provide an alternative to ChatGPT. And to answer the burning question; "Can we make our usage of AI ethical and sustainable?"
So join James as he sat down with Robert to discuss:
👶 Starting his first business at age 14(!)
🏭 The heavy environmental impact of our current AI models
🤖 The importance of educating people to use correct AI Prompting

It's episode two of Season Seven, and we're flying high with our latest guest!
Sophie Zienkiewicz is on a mission to decarbonise the aviation fuel industry, and make 'Sustainable Aviation Fuel' (SAF) the new normal.
With only 0.5% of the airline industry currently using SAF, Sophie and the team at CNF Energy are doing all they can to change that.
A single round trip from London to New York emits just over 2 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents, and the average carbon footprint in the UK is 5.4 tonnes per person. So flying can typically be someone's single biggest source of CO2 in a year.
But as Sophie points out, it is not flying itself which is the problem. It is the environmental impact of aviation fuel which is the issue. Change the fuel, reduce the impact.
So join James as he sat down with Sophie to discuss:
👣 A journey launched by COP26
🤐 Managing challenges in communication around the impact of aviation
📈 The aim to reach 10% global SAF by 2030
💰 Challenges in financing SAF and SAF technology
🛠️ Securing a Government grant and entering the design phase
🏦 Crowdfunding as the first publicly listed SAF company
... and much more! ✨
This was a great episode, and we particularly loved Sophie's quote, "By 2030 I want to have our future Prime Minister flying on our Sustainable Aviation Fuel".
We hope you enjoy the episode 💚
About Sophie Zienkiewicz:
Motivated by a strong desire to be part of the solution to solving climate change, Sophie co-founded Carbon Neutral Fuels in 2022. She has a background in chemistry, having worked at the UK's National Nuclear Laboratory in the Insight and Strategy Team, and has experience in sustainability consulting with betternotstop. In this eye-opening episode, Ollie break stereotypes to explain how Marketing Spend can directly contribute to a company's ESG targets. As well as The Good Net's calculation of companies' 'Holistic Ethical Media Index Score'.

There's no doubt we live in a time of crisis.
Day after day, we read news and stories about the worsening climate challenge. Yet little do we hear stories of hope.

But that is exactly what this week's guest's work and book is all about.
And so we are delighted to welcome Osprey Orielle Lake to The EcoSend Podcast, to bring a fresh perspective on the vital role which women and indigenous cultures can play in safeguarding our planet (and our own!) future.

It's Episode 3, and we're back this time with Tim Maiden of Green Small Business!
At EcoSend, we're committed not only to reducing the carbon footprint of email, but of our own footprint as a business too.
But it's hard to know where to even start with measuring a company's carbon footprint. Especially for startups and SME's already juggling too many tasks with too few resources.
At the end of the day, we're not massive corporates who can dedicate whole teams and budgets to this...
Thankfully, that's exactly where Tim and his team can help!
Through Green Small Business, Tim's mission is to drive authentic climate action for SME's. Meaning calculating and tackling our carbon footprint isn't just left to the big companies, but is something any climate-conscious business can commit to.
And so, we were delighted that Tim joined us for this episode to discuss:
👶 How his upbringing influenced his desire work in Climate
👀 Why are so many small businesses interested in addressing their carbon footprint?
😱 Helping SME's to tackle their fears of Greenwashing.
😵💫 Why it's better for some business to GROW their carbon footprint?!
🔮 Tim's predictions for the future.
... and much more! ✨
We really love working with Tim, and we're so glad he joined us for this episode to share his knowledge. Do check it out and let us know your thoughts 💚

Hot off the heels of a cracking first episode of Season 6, we're back this week with our new Season's second episode!
Since the (relative) return to normality in a post-Covid world, the Events industry has largely gone back to business as usual.
But most Events, our latest guests points out, offer limited value to attendees and are far too mono-focused on supplier or sponsor benefit.
But Juliette Devillard, and her company 'Climate Connection' is leading the way in offering attendee-focused Events. Moving away from dull, lengthy pitches and that "I could've stayed at home and watched this on Zoom" feeling. Climate Connection has grown to be the largest Event organiser for Climate professionals.
So if you work in Marketing or Events, and want to learn how to create Events that attendees will actually want to attend (and talk about!), don't miss this episode!
We were delighted to have Juliette join us and talk about:
🙅♀️ Starting life as a climate-change denier(!)
🌐 Work experience with the United Nations.
👏 Creating Events designed for humans.
😬 The challenges facing Climate Deep Tech.
🤫 The 12 Minute Speech Rule.
... and much more! ✨
This was a fantastic episode, not just full of stories ranging from creating compelling narratives to First of a Kind Funding (FOAK), but also practical tips for how to run great-quality, stand-out Events. We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did! 💚
About Juliette Devillard:
Juliette is the Founder & CEO of Climate Connection, which hosts the UK’s largest monthly event for climate professionals.
