CCAA All Canadian & LA native John Smith credits his work ethic and confidence for his accomplishments. Never really finding his footing in high school, John spent 1 year at JUCO before eventually crossing the border to Canada and enrolling at SAIT. (CCAA). During John’s tenure the program has turned around and won 4 straight ACAC championships. John, nicknamed “Almighty”, shares how he developed the ultimate confidence in himself and why he carries himself as such.

The Drive & Kick podcast welcomes a new type of guest for this one. Southwest Desert Cats team owner and CEO Samantha Stukes joins the podcast. Taking us through her motivation to start her own professional basketball franchise, not only to help others pursue dreams but to put her hometown of El Paso, TX on the map. The Desert Cats success is not possible without their culture-changing head coach, Jesús Aragón. Having an impressive resumé that includes the Mexican national team as well as other professional stops, Coach Aragón and Samantha take us through the process of becoming a successful franchise and what is next for both of them.

On this weeks podcast Dan & Mike chop it up with Nolan Willett. Originally from Calgary Nolan’s been a hooper his entire life. Attending high school and junior college in California before transferring to play USPORTS in Canada Nolan is definitely battle tested. After completing his degree he forewent 2 years of eligibility to focus on his passion for skills training. Joining his dad and established trainer Bob Willett the family business of training has gone to a whole new level. The RTN training group is now one of the best training groups in all of Canada.

Rashawn Browne joins the guys at Drive and Kick. From Toronto, ON, Rashawn was not always the most touted player but always found a way to make the most of his situation. From winning a Canadian National Championship in high school, to his first collegiate stop at New Mexico State (NCAA D1) Rashawn faced a series of highs and lows. All the work came to fruition at UManitoba (USPORTS) where Rashawn became an All-Canadian and propelled himself to ROY Runner-Up in the CEBL. Today, Rashawn continues to pursue his goals on and off the court while playing in the CEBL as well as helping others achieve financial literacy.

From Goodwater, AL 2X CEBL MVP and CEBL Champion Xavier Moon joins Mike and Dan. Taking us through his journey from leading his state in scoring as a senior to taking the Juco route to achieve the D1 dream at Morehead State. Xavier always knew he had what it takes, but everything changed when he joined a team in a new league in the great North. Xavier discusses the ups and downs of his college and pro career, as well as giving great insight regarding what it takes to make it to his level. Like he says: “Success never rewards the wrong person.” And boy is he right.

Episode 4 features Congo native & Calgary raised David Kapinga. From playing high school basketball in Kentucky, to walking-on at the University of Calgary (USPORTS). Kapinga went from being a walk-on, to a National Champion and Final 8 MVP. Going through the ups and downs of his collegiate career, David then transitions to the professional life of basketball in Europe. Finally, transitioning to life after basketball.

Idaho state alumni & El Paso native Nnamdi Ezenwa joins the show. We learn about Nnamdi’s Nigerian roots and what is what like growing up the son of a former Division 1 player. Nnamdi goes in depth about his development from a local high school star to battling his way through junior college and finishing a division 1 player. We close the show with Nnamdi discussing how he rebranded himself outside of basketball and became valedictorian at the Thurgood Marshall School Of Law and now is a practicing lawyer.

Aaaand we’re back! Season 3 of the Drive & Kick Podcast kicks off with Rob Myles III. Mike’s former teammate at GPRC (CCAA) discusses his basketball journey from playing in the highly touted Las Vegas high-school hoop-scene, to multiple productive college stops. Starting with being a state JUCO champion in California (CCCAA), to his stops at GPRC and Lethbridge College. Finally, Rob touches on his pro career and what’s next for him.

Mike and Dan catch up while preparing for season 3 of the Drive and Kick Podcast! They explore a range of topics including: Canada being back on lockdown and USPORTS/CCAA seasons being canceled(0:35), first impressions of the new NCAA season(11:58), the NBA Draft(17:25), and NBA free agency(27:11) among other things.

Drive and Kick co-host and founder, Mike Clemons takes the role of guest for the season 2 finale. The El Paso, TX native takes us through his journey from EP to Grand Prairie Regional College (CCAA), and ultimately to Lethbridge College (CCAA). A college career highlighted by becoming the ACAC all-time conference leader in steals and assists, as well as a 5x conference All-Star. Mike’s journey is far from over.

Episode 7 features Khurram Sultan. Khurram played at the famed Harry Ainly high school in Edmonton before spending 5 years in Canada’s ACAC conference. During his last two seasons Khurram began establishing and building his skills training brand “In the Dark training”. He spent time learning from world renowned skills trainer Micah Lancaster and learned the I’mPossible skills training techniques. Khurram is currently expanding his brand and is head of player development at UBCO university.
