HAXHIA - Origins, Emotion, and the Art of the Long Mix on the Virtual Sessions 10/31/25
From Tuscany, Italy, rising DJ and producer HAXHIA joins to share his story of passion, discipline, and musical heritage. At just 23 years old, he has already carved out a unique sound that blends disco, funk, and tech house influences while staying true to his Albanian and Greek roots. His journey began at age 13 when he discovered his uncle’s old CDJs, sparking a fascination that quickly grew into a lifelong pursuit. What started as curiosity became a deep creative calling, driven by emotion and the desire to connect through rhythm. HAXHIA describes music as a universal language—an emotional exchange between artist and audience. Onstage, he transforms from a reserved personality into an expressive performer, channeling pure energy to craft an experience rather than a setlist. Influenced by Bob Sinclar and the timeless Defected Records sound, he aims to bring melody and heart back to the dance floor, reminding listeners that authenticity matters more than hype. He speaks on the challenges of today’s fast-paced release culture, where pressure to produce weekly tracks often overshadows quality. HAXHIA believes in slowing down to refine his craft, working closely with Origami Management on both production and artistry. His recent track RM merges Balkan flutes with tech house grooves, showcasing his ability to blend cultural tradition with modern innovation. For HAXHIA, success is simple: emotional connection, creative honesty, and the joy of seeing a crowd move as one. His debut release featured vocals by Nino Lucarelli, and soon after he remixed Joe T Vannelli's iconic track "Leave Me Baby", giving it a fresh Italo House twist. A graduate of SAE Institute Milan in Electronic Music Production, HAXHIA recently dropped a collaboration with ATCG on Time Records. From childhood, he started delving into the world of music, fueled by a strong passion for the piano. At a young age, he decided to take private lessons from a local professor. His dream was to become a professional DJ, and at the age of 16, he successfully claimed a spot at the console of one of the finest clubs in his area. Driven by a profound love for House music, even while underage, he graced some of the best national stages. On the evening of Wednesday, December 25, 2019, he secured a place in the lineup at Pineta di Milano Marittima, establishing himself as a focal point for the house music scene on the Riviera Romagnola. In October of the same year, Haxhia embarked on his initial ventures into the music market. He began attending music production courses, and, coupled with his versatile instrumental skills, he composed his debut single, released on July 15, 2020, titled "We Can Try." The track emerged from a collaboration with artist Nino Lucarelli, a prominent figure in the dance scene known for lending his voice to numerous dance hits such as "Stay with me - Kryder', "Save me - - Corey James.", "I should Have Walked Away - KAAZE'

Peter Mac - From Barking Mad to House Music Legacy on the Virtual Sessions 10/29/25
Toronto-based producer and label owner Peter Mac shares his story of transformation from a live event promoter to an acclaimed figure in soulful and deep house. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and his events agency came to a halt, Peter used the time to learn music production from scratch, watching hundreds of tutorials and applying his background in musical theory to his new craft. His passion led to releases across multiple labels, culminating in the creation of his own imprint, Barking Mad Music. The label, inspired by Peter’s love for deep and Latin house, showcases both his own tracks and collaborations with emerging artists, particularly from Mexico. His dedication to high-quality house music reflects a lifelong love for the genre’s roots, from Chicago’s 90s era to its current global resurgence. Peter recounts promoting early house legends such as Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Carl Cox, describing the thrill of helping shape dance culture during its formative years in Europe. The discussion dives deep into the modern state of the music industry, exploring social media burnout, inflated egos, and how commercialism has diluted artistic authenticity. Peter and Darran agree that while technology has transformed accessibility, it has also diminished attention spans and organic connection on the dance floor. Despite these challenges, Peter remains optimistic that true house music endures through its passion-driven community. He closes with a heartfelt message to fans: seek quality music, dig deeper, and reconnect with the underground roots that made dance culture so powerful in the first place. His musical background arises from years of experience as an owner-operator of his independently owned music agency as a promoter and booker for house music DJs and events. Additionally, Peter attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, which served as a foundation for his musical education and training. In 2020 when Covid erupted, his agency came to a sudden halt. This disruption turned out to be a significant turning point for Peter and this is when he found his light to follow his dream and begin making music of his own. Admiring his new found career (at 55 years of age), Peter invested in the musical software and hardware so he could quickly get his new profession off the ground. With this anticipation, he was eager to start using his musical imagination and could not wait to get his creative juices flowing in order to start flourishing in his new profession. In the learning of how to create and advance as a music producer and dj, Peter found it fun to figure out all the buttons and knobs required in order for him to develop and progress. With his heart finally in the right place, the music just seemed to flow rather effortlessly and suddenly everything finally fell into place to be able to launch into his new found career. Time travel to 2023, Peter has already launched his own record label that’s quickly gaining high recognition, called Barking Mad Music. Martin Jensen - Streaming Innovation, AI in Music, and the Future of Live Sound on the Virtual Sessions 10/21/25
Broadcasting live from Spinnin’ Records Studios in Amsterdam, Martin Jensen reconnects to discuss innovation, passion, and the evolving music landscape. Known for his hit singles and global reach, Martin opens up about Me Myself Online, his ongoing creative project that began during lockdown on Twitch and has now evolved into a high-quality YouTube series. The first episode, filmed aboard one of the world’s largest container ships, the Mary Mærsk, symbolizes his ambition to blend music with unique global experiences. He talks candidly about the hidden costs and complexity of live streaming, referencing how production logistics can reach tens of thousands of dollars just to go live—a challenge that helped him appreciate in-person performances even more. Despite his hectic schedule, Martin admits to having little routine or structure, joking about surviving on little sleep and a love for red wine over kale salads. The discussion turns toward creativity and mental balance. When facing creative blocks, he shares that spontaneity—and occasionally a strong vodka Red Bull—helps break through stagnation. He emphasizes the importance of enjoying the process over chasing perfection, viewing each show as both a performance and a test of endurance. Touching on AI, Dolby Atmos, and streaming economics, Martin sees technology as both opportunity and caution. He values authenticity and artistry over shortcuts, preferring hands-on creation. For him, success isn’t measured in numbers or fame but in fun, passion, and staying inspired. His advice to rising artists: do what feels right, stay true, and never forget why you started. Now back with another instalment for 2025, Martin takes over the Mary Mærsk – currently Denmark’s biggest company eclipsing the likes of Lego, and previously the world’s largest shipping vessel – to combine history with modern electronic music in a distinctive way, promising a visual spectacle like no other live from Aarhus Port. With multiple camera operators, sweeping ariel shots, drones and time-coded lighting, it is set to take viewers on a sunset journey like no other. Significant Otter on the Mobile Sessions on The DJ Sessions 10/17/25
My name is Cruz Corona, my stage alias is Significant Otter. I was born in Chicago, Illinois but was basically raised here in Washington. At an early age I was interested in music by learning how to play this electronic keyboard my grandparents gifted me for Christmas. I joined my school’s orchestra in the 5th grade and ever since then, music has been a part of life. I played Viola all the way through senior year, and started going to shows at 17. My first rave was Paradiso, and I’ve been to many more festivals since then. I enjoy bass music a lot but also love playing house and other genres as well. Seattle is my home town and I really love the area.     About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ’s/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. Faranoe Bros. - Brotherly Energy, Groove, and UK Roots on the Virtual Sessions 10/15/25
The UK-based duo Faranoe Bros., made up of Tom and P-Po, join to share their infectious energy and story of perseverance in the underground electronic music scene. Raised in a family surrounded by diverse sounds—from Italian pop to Motown and Dire Straits—the brothers built their musical foundation by exploring different styles and teaching themselves production from scratch. With no formal training, their journey began in shared bedrooms, evolving from bedroom DJ sets to packed events across the country. Their sound blends groove, bass, and high energy, reflecting influences from early UK dubstep, drum and bass, and house. The brothers stress the importance of DJ etiquette, particularly the lost art of the warm-up set—building a night rather than blowing it up too early. Through their performances at festivals like Fundamental, they’ve gained a reputation for crafting immersive, rhythmic journeys that keep dance floors moving organically. The support and belief from their peers at Fundamental became the spark that propelled them toward taking their music career seriously. Armed with FL Studio, they’ve honed their craft, producing tracks like Burn This City Down and remixes that have garnered praise from both fans and industry insiders. Working with mentors such as engineer Lee Howe and now collaborating with MN2S, the duo are refining their sound and preparing for global recognition. Whether performing at small intimate venues or outdoor festivals, the Faranoe Bros. focus on connection, groove, and creating a shared experience. Their chemistry, humor, and commitment to authenticity make every set a celebration of their love for music—and for each other as brothers in rhythm. Jungstedt - Groovy Disco Revival and Swedish Music Roots on the Virtual Sessions 10/13/25
Coming from Stockholm, Sweden, Jungstedt brings an energetic, groovy, and soulful approach to new disco and house music. His musical journey began in the late 90s, inspired by hip-hop culture, when he and his friends bought DJ gear with their summer job savings and started performing at house parties around Stockholm. Those grassroots beginnings evolved into professional gigs and eventually full-scale music production, marking the start of a lifelong passion for sound and creativity. Jungstedt’s first production experiments took shape using Fruity Loops and Reason, before releasing his debut track Barracus in 2009. After years of refining his craft, he teamed up with Sticky Decks and Disco Tron to form a production alliance focused on new disco. Their covers of classics like Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know and Enoja’s Enjoy Your Life have gained global traction through Tasty Recordings, solidifying their reputation for reimagining timeless hits with a modern disco flair. Outside the studio, Jungstedt balances his creative life with fitness and family, maintaining a strict daily workout routine and an active lifestyle that includes following his favorite football team, Djurgårdens IF. He emphasizes the importance of discipline, loyalty, and collaboration—both in music and life. Jungstedt remains dedicated to the artistry of performance, favoring intimate venues where he can connect directly with the crowd. His philosophy on success focuses on passion over profit, valuing creative fulfillment and the joy of sharing music above all else. With his vibrant sound and deep-rooted influences, Jungstedt continues to bring groove, warmth, and positivity to dance floors across Sweden and beyond. Riko and Gugga - Retro Sounds, Modern Energy, and Brazil’s Rising Dance Scene on the Virtual Sessions 10/6/25
From São Paulo, Brazil, Riko and Gugga bring their infectious energy and love for nostalgic sounds to an exciting conversation about their music journey and creative chemistry. Known for blending 80s pop, disco, and modern indie dance, the duo describe their style as “heavy, fun, and 80s-inspired,” taking cues from artists like Tears for Fears and Duran Duran while reimagining their sound for today’s dance floors. Their recent release Motherlovers—a cleverly renamed track to dodge censorship—recently hit the Beatport charts and showcases their playful yet polished approach to production. The pair’s story reflects a unique balance of passion and discipline. Producing, mixing, and mastering everything in-house, Riko and Gugga average two to three days to complete a track and release around 30 each year. With multiple Beatport top-charting singles under their belt, including the breakout remix of Voyage Voyage, they’ve proven that independent dedication can lead to international success. Their work has appeared in genres from progressive house to melodic techno, earning recognition for both artistry and consistency. Beyond the music, the duo discuss their shared struggles with social media, the challenges facing Brazil’s shrinking club scene, and the power of festivals and underground events to unite dance culture. Thomas Turner - Building Relentless Beats and Redefining Event Culture on the Virtual Sessions 10/2/25
Thomas Turner, the visionary founder of Relentless Beats, joins from Phoenix, Arizona, to discuss his journey from club DJ to one of the most influential live event producers in the United States. With over three decades in the industry, Thomas reflects on starting as an enthusiast and throwing underground events in old post offices before turning his passion into a full-scale business in the early 2000s. Today, Relentless Beats produces more than 500 events annually, from intimate club nights to massive festivals across multiple states. He describes his early motivations as driven not by profit but by a desire to fill a cultural void in Arizona’s nightlife. Over time, this vision expanded nationally through strategic partnerships, including East Meets West in New York. Thomas explains the evolution of major festivals such as Decadence, Gold Rush, and Phoenix Lights, highlighting the creative process behind curating each lineup and venue experience. For him, every event serves as a reflection of the community, emphasizing both artistic diversity and fan connection. The discussion also delves into the modern realities of event culture, from managing safety operations to addressing cell phone use at shows. Thomas offers insight into Relentless Rangers, a fan-first initiative that ensures guests’ well-being at every festival. He also shares thoughts on “proper house” and his passion for maintaining authenticity in an increasingly commercialized scene. Despite overseeing hundreds of productions a year, Thomas remains grounded in creativity and collaboration. Larse - From Ibiza Sunsets to Launching VASH Recordings on the Virtual Sessions 10/2/25
Larse joins from Dortmund, Germany, bringing his soulful and emotive take on house music to the conversation. Fresh from a trip to Ibiza, he reflects on playing at Six Senses, a sunset performance that coincided with the launch of his new single and his label, VASH Recordings. For him, music is about creating vibes that capture a moment, whether through deep house grooves, soulful vocals, or downtempo textures. He describes his journey from sampling vinyl as a teenager to producing on an Atari with Cubase in the early 90s, highlighting how limitations pushed his creativity. Today, with decades of experience and millions of streams behind him, his perspective balances artistry with the realities of modern streaming and promotion. While the industry has shifted from downloads to streams, he believes longevity and authenticity remain the real measures of success. Family plays a central role in his life, with his kids often reminding him of balance between studio time and personal time. He admits that staying fit and managing health is a challenge, but one made easier by the energy of parenthood. His children may prefer hip-hop, but they occasionally peek into his world, bringing a new layer of inspiration. Looking ahead, Larse is focused on growing VASH Recordings, building it first with his own tracks and eventually expanding to artists he believes in. His advice for upcoming producers is simple: finish your tracks, trust your instincts, and release music you fully stand behind. With new reworks like Chicane’s Offshore on the way, he shows no sign of slowing down. Topics 0:12 - Reflections on Ibiza performances and avoiding storms 3:14 - Describing his sound as soulful house with deep emotions 4:38 - Celebrating a release party and new single launch 7:44 - Favorite food spots in Ibiza and Formentera 9:05 - Early inspirations and falling in love with vinyl 11:03 - Transition from hardware sampling to digital production 13:10 - Balancing music career with parenting and fitness 15:23 - Launching VASH Recordings and its vision 17:28 - Working with Defected and lessons from top labels 29:38 - Dream event ideas, food passions, and new projects Connect with Larse Instagram: @larse_music Label: VASH Recordings   About Larse - Embarking in the nineties, Larse swiftly rose to prominence in Germany’s music scene. His DJ talent caught the attention of 1LIVE Radio, landing him a 15-year gig co-hosting “1LIVE Klubbing.” This journey earned him a German Dance Awards nod and a dedicated fanbase, leading to gigs worldwide. His 2011 track “The More I Want” wowed Ibiza and renowned artists. He continued his rise with hits like “So Long” on Noir Music and a gold record for his remix of Candi Staton’s “Hallelujah Anyway.” Larse’s live presence graced esteemed venues including Fabric in London, Sankeys in Manchester, Polar Lounge in NYC and Booom in Ibiza. With 70 million+ plays and 200k+ monthly Spotify listeners, he’s a digital mainstay. In 2020, he dropped “We Were Young” on Musumeci’s label, followed by remixes and collaborations with names like Jazzanova, Till von Sein, Shit Robot to name a few. 2022 saw his triumphant return to Defected with “A Part Of,” topping charts once again and earning nods from DJ Harvey, Bob Sinclar, and Diplo. With his 2024 Version of the legendary Candi Staton Remix, Larse got massive support from the Keinemusik crew, who constantly dropped the unreleased remix in all their shows around the globe, leading to the long awaited release in July on Defected as well. Playing Glitterbox at the worlds No.1 Club HI Ibiza this summer, Larse’s musical journey remains an ode to passion and dedication in the electronic realm. Late Aster - Lo-Fi Experiments, Classical Roots, and Creative Discipline on the Virtual Sessions 9/29/25
Summary Anni and Aaron, the duo behind Late Aster, bring a refreshing perspective that bridges classical training with electronic experimentation. Based in San Francisco, they share how their artist name reflects a balance between the natural and the celestial - Anni’s love of flowers and Aaron’s fascination with stars. Together, they craft music they describe as “jazztronica with brass,” blending brass instruments with electronic textures in an innovative hybrid style. Their upcoming debut album City Living showcases this fusion, created with a vintage Tascam four-track cassette recorder. The duo explains how working within the limits of analog tape forced them to embrace imperfection, often recording live takes that highlight raw honesty. Tracks like Ctrl-F Discipline emerged from this process, where constraints became opportunities to rethink production and storytelling. Beyond their technical approach, Anni and Aaron discuss how their perfectionist tendencies find balance in collaboration, and how embracing “wabi-sabi” - beauty in imperfection - shaped their latest work. Their creative journey is also guided by influences ranging from Wagner’s Gesamtkunstwerk concept to the bold reinvention of artists like Miles Davis. They speak candidly about the challenges of translating studio recordings into live performances, often requiring intricate synchronization between horns, sequencers, and loop pedals. Yet, they thrive on the tension of live experimentation, pushing themselves to deliver unique experiences. Looking ahead, they remain dedicated to blending tradition with innovation, whether through lo-fi tape projects or fully produced modern releases. Topics 0:06 - Origins of the Late Aster name and natural inspirations 1:49 - Defining their genre as jazztronica with brass instruments 5:35 - The concept of Gesamtkunstwerk and artistic integration 11:07 - Creating the album City Living with a Tascam four-track 16:05 - Embracing lo-fi aesthetics and analog challenges 23:15 - Letting go of perfectionism through live one-take recordings 30:22 - Collaborating with producer Charles Mueller on final mixes 39:23 - Musical upbringings, classical training, and early influences 43:06 - Biggest inspirations from Imogen Heap to Miles Davis 49:15 - Translating analog recordings into live stage performances Connect with Late Aster Website: lateaster.com Instagram: @late.aster YouTube: Late Aster About  Late Aster - Situated somewhere between post-bop jazz, electronica, and chamber pop, San Francisco-based Late Aster’s music has been described as producing “unprecedented sounds” (SF Chronicle) that “on paper [] shouldn’t work, but it does.” (Tape-Op) Their two previous releases, EPs “True and Toxic” (2021) and "Light Rail Session" (2023), articulate a kaleidoscopic theory of music grounded in the electronic processing of trumpet and French horn and supported by meticulous songwriting, instrumentation, and sound-sculpting.  Late Aster’s upcoming album, City Livin’, finds the group channeling their genre-bending sound through the vintage TASCAM Portastudio 414 MKII – a true do-it-yourself cassette recorder/mixer from the late 90s. The album whirrs through house, trap, and hip-hop beats as the foundation for the group’s distinctive and soulful performances of fx-pedal brass, vocals, and dark synths. Made up of ten impressionist sketches, City Livin’ is a nod to the “lo-fi beats” genre and to trumpet player/composer/producer Aaron Messing’s day job as an environmental attorney. With inspiration from jazz, alt-rock, and folk, the album is a journey through other-wordly, urban soundscapes featuring fully instrumental performances, a cover of “Miss Ohio” as a love letter to Gillian Welch, and the poetic sampling of Alan Watts’ voice.  Aaron Messing studied classical trumpet performance at Northwestern University before going to law school and becoming an environmental attorney. He routinely sends ideas for songs to long-time collabora
