The PGA Pro Championship and the LPGA's Hope Barnett
Scottie Scheffler finally got his first win of the season, and boy, was it an impressive one in his own backyard at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson. The LPGA was in Utah for the Black Desert Championship, an incredible backdrop for Haeren Ryu to claim her third victory on tour. The PGA Professional Championship this past week gave some for he game's best instructors and club pros the chance to play for a spot at the PGA Championship, and Alex was there to chat with some of the game's best as they punched their ticket. Alex was able to catch up with pros Ryan Lenahan, Rupe Taylor, and Bob Sowards after they had completed their final rounds. The PGA TOUR heads to the Truist Championship, moved away from Quail Hallow (which will host the PGA Championship next week). Michael wonders if Rory McIlroy can defend his title, will that make it more or less likely for him to win the season's second major? Alex has been hopping around the country covering all the different golf, and he shares another rant on travel that he just don't understand about checked bags. In Tuned In, Michael is playing a new computer game, Cities: Skylines as he continues to rest his broken arm, while Alex couldn't believe the crowds in Brazil as Lady Gaga took over Rio. This week's guest is Hope Barnett, who returns to the podcast to talk about the LPGA's growing success and which celebrities are showing up at the different tournaments. The NBA Playoffs move onto the next stage, albeit without LeBron James (once again). Michael wonders how much longer we'll see LeBron on the court. The Bill Belichick saga continues to grow more and more bizarre as new information keeps coming out about Bill and his significantly younger girlfriend. In baseball, the Yankee's Aaron Judge put up ridiculous numbers in April, making Alex and Michael gawk at his ability to smash the ball. As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex shares what it was like to be back at Foxboro, the Boston themed sports bar in Marco Island, FL, while Michael is giving a shameless plug to his bakery's new brunch restaurant, Bread and Butter. 2025 Chevron Championship Wrap Up
The LPGA's first major of the season did not disappoint with a 5 woman playoff to decide the Chevron Championship. Plus, answers from the game's best as Alex chats with Ingrid Lindblad, Nelly Korda, and Ruoning Yin in Houston. Team golf was the name of the game at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, as Andrew Novak finally got his win with his buddy Ben Griffin at his side. 17-year old Blades Brown is making a name for himself on the Korn Ferry Tour, and Michael breaks down how Brown is using his runner-up finish last week to his advantage instead of playing on the PGA TOUR this week, as he had originally planned. Alex is in Florida this week to cover the PGA Professional Championship, where the best club professionals get together to try and play their way into the PGA Championship at Quail Hallow. The PGA TOUR heads to Texas for the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, where local boy Scottie Scheffler is still looking for his first win of the season. Alex's travel day to southwest Florida was an interesting one, where he say every annoying thing happen, from passengers running to their plane to people sitting in the wrong seat. In Tuned In, Michael shares some of the movies he's watching with he extra free time, and Alex can't believe the Austin PD couldn't catch a guy hanging from a crane over downtown Austin. The NBA Playoffs roll on and while Alex is comfortable with his Celtics, Michael can't believe the refs are just handing out wins to the New York Knicks. The NFL had a banner weekend, from a fun-filled draft (where favorite Shedeur Sanders just kept slipped) to a poor interview with Bill Belichick. As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is excited to visit his favorite New England themes sports bar in SW Florida, while Michael is still trying to figure out what he can cook and eat as he nurses he left arm back to health. Chevron Championship Preview and PGA Pro Darrell Kestner
The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town had an exciting Sunday finish as Justin Thomas finally returned to the winner's circle with a playoff victory. The LPGA's JM Eagle LA Championship produced a new winner, in just her third start, and a large donation to support LA Firefighters. This week marks the LPGA's first Major Championship, the Chevron Championship, in Houston, TX. Alex is on the grounds for the first few days and shares his thoughts on the course and a conversation with Gurleen Kaur, playing in her second Chevron Championship. The PGA TOUR's opposite event, the Coral Putacana Championship, saw Joel Dahmen lose a commanding lead down the stretch Sunday, a disappointing end to an otherwise good week of play. Plus, content creator and up-and-comer Wesley Bryan couldn't play after being suspended for playing in the LIV Duels event a few weeks ago. This week's Zurich Classic features a team format unique to the New Orleans event, and the returning duo of Masters Champ Rory McIlroy and fellow countryman Shane Lowry are the odds-on favorite. Michael shares an update on his fractured elbow, and Alex celebrates his hometown's 250th Birthday. In Tuned In, Michael caught the cult-classic 100's of Beavers with a packed theatre and can't stop recommending it, while Alex shares an unsettling update to this year's Fyre Festival. This week's guest is Darrell Kestner, a PGA Professional in New York who has played in the PGA Professional Championship over 6 decades. Darrell shares stories from his long playing career, how he won the event with different putting strokes, and more. The NBA Playoffs are in full force and Alex is all in on his Boston Celtics. Michael shares a wild inning that happening in Minor League Baseball, with a routine play that cause major deja vu. As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Michael can't believe that the case of the Jersey Shore went to the home of the chicken tender in his New Hampshire home. Support our friends! Rory McIlroy Wins The 2025 Masters
Rory McIlroy finally did it. Alex and Michael look back at the incredible week from Augusta National, including on-site reporting from a friend of the podcast. The LPGA has their final tune-up ahead of the Chevron Championship next week. The Olympics are finally doing what we've all been asking for: a mixed team event at the next Summer Games! Hilton Head hosts the PGA Tour next for the RBC Heritage, where Scottie Scheffler looks to defend. Alex enjoyed a weekend in Austin TX, and catching up with Johnny from Austin's own Caddy Issues. Plus, Michael shares an unfortunate turn of events. In Tuned In, Michael is looking for recommendations, while Alex is wondering how we'll be making showers "great again." The NBA Playoffs tip off this week, and Alex ponders how it'll play out for his Celtics. The MLB season rolls on, and the NL is dominating everything. In the NHL, there's a new all-time goals leader, and this season/s Stanley Cup Playoffs will be missing something it's never been without before. As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex enjoys some Masters Classics, while Michael celebrates Passover. Support our friends! 2025 Masters Preview and All Things Callaway Golf
The Valero Texas Open had winds, winds, and more winds, and 2023 British Open Champ Brian Harmon finally returned to the winner's circle. The Korn Ferry Tour was in Savannah for the Club Car Championship, but the real story was Ryan McCormick who taped his mouth shut for his Friday round. The PGA TOUR and PIF have been at it forever, and seem to be getting close to a deal. But news broke of a rejected offer of investment from PIF with one little caveat that is still the sticking point. The LPGA still has a match play event on their schedule, the T-Mobile Match Play, which gave us a champion who hasn't been in the winner's circle in a long time. Former Master's Champion Angel Cabrera, and veteran of the Argentinean prison system, just made the field of the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational, and took full advantage by cruising to victory, just in time for his return to Augusta National. The first major of the year kicks off in Augusta, GA at The Masters as the world's best vie for the coveted Green Jacket. Alex and Michael look at the field and Alex shares his very hot take on the betting odds. In Tuned In, Michael shares his review of the meme-able film "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent," while Alex shares his thoughts on "White Lotus" season 3 and the upcoming Fyre Festival. This week's guest is Nicholas Callaway, who chats with Alex about the new memoir he edited about his father, Ely Callaway, the founder of Callaway Golf. Nicholas shares stories from the book, like how Ely founded the brand in his 60s, and how AI is being used to recreate Ely's voice for the audio book version. The NCAA Women's Basketball Champions are the UCONN Huskies... again. While all the eyes keep going to the men's powerhouses of Duke and UNC, Michael reminds us that that school in the middle of Connecticut just keeps winning National Titles, year after year. Baseball season is in full swing after two weeks, but is it too soon to jump to conclusions? As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, they dive into Blake Lively's poorly executed bakery visit in Connecticut. LIV Copies the PGA TOUR plus Jane Spicer of Daphne's Headcovers
The Texas Children's Houston Open has some fireworks on Sunday at Scottie Scheffler couldn't get it done and Min Woo Lee breaks through on the PGA TOUR.  LIV Golf unveiled a new creator tournament coming at their Miami stop, dubbed The Duels. Featuring content creators next to LIV pros, it sounds an awfully lot like The Creator Classic on the PGA TOUR, who had a lot to say about these creators jumping ship. Jim Nantz shocked the golf world with his retirement announcement... that'll come at The Masters... in 2036. The LPGA is back stateside and Lilia Vu couldn't finish the deal at the Ford Championship as Hyo Joo Kim took the win in a playoff after a Sunday 64. The PGA TOUR now heads to the Valero Texas Open and the last chance before The Masters. Alex and Michael share some updates going on in their personal lives, as well as what they are Tuning Into, like cleaning up their email boxes, and an update on Michael's 2-year long board game challenge. This week's guest is Jane Spicer, the owner and founder of Daphne's Headcovers. Jane chats with Alex about how the company started, what it was like when Tiger Woods started using a Daphne Headcover, and more. March Madness now rolls into April with a very boring Final Four as the selection committee is likely patting themselves on the back for getting it right. NFL Free Agency still has some life left in it, as Michael's Giants surprised everyone with the signing of Russell Wilson, and Alex's Patriots continue to spend, now on WR Stefon Diggs. Baseball season is finally underway, and while Alex's Red Sox are faltering out of the box, Michael's Yankees are pounding the ball with some controversial new baseball bats. As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex heads to a crawfish boil, while Michael celebrates across Savannah. Support our friends!
