Science reveals that up to 90% of what we do and say happens through unconscious thoughts and actions. Can we be more effective by doing more consciously? Welcome to The Cost of Not Paying Attention! Hosted by Janine Hamner Holman, this podcast will lean into the places where – by paying attention – we can reap significant rewards! From the exploration of neuroscience and the unconscious bias to the impact of culture on the bottom line of companies, we’ll investigate the things that we don’t typically see. By expanding our focus, we can pull from opportunities our subconscious and into our consciousness so that we can make better decisions, be more productive, and build the kind of lives, organizations and society where we can all thrive. A trainer and leadership talent developer, Janine is a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in organizational development and change management built through working with all kinds of organizations, from Fortune 200 companies to local non-profits. She brings a deep understanding of what makes organizations work in both a for-profit and a nonprofit environment. She also spent 10 years learning about brain science and emotional intelligence. She has developed an (exceptionally accessible!) science-based approach that she uses to help great organizations create thriving workplaces with engaged and high-performing teams, led by dynamic, innovative and compassionate leaders. She is especially focused on assisting organizations to become an employer of choice to attract and retain superior talent.

She is also a keynote speaker on many topics, including:

Janine has been managing teams since 1991. She’s a nationally recognized speaker and expert on developing leadership in the age of disruption and AI, and she knows what it takes to attract and retain world-class talent. She teaches a very distinct method that combines brain science, leadership, management, and real-life challenges managers face.  Her company, J&J Consulting Group, has developed a proprietary assessment to determine whether your organizational culture drives or inhibits your organization’s competitive advantage.  You can take the assessment for free at www.JandJCG.com

Janine is also an author published on in a number of venues including Forbes and Thrive Global. She is a member of the invitation-only Forbes Coaches Council: a group of thought leaders, executives and business owners focused on issues of organizational leadership and culture. She is currently working on her first book. Whether you’re a business owner, an organizational leader, a manager of other humans, or anybody who aspires to be one of these, learning about why we avoid looking at things that feel “hard” actually gives us freedom and helps us understand more about why we do the things that we do. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on in our brains and the available opportunities and challenges for us as managers and leaders. Discover some tips and advice on how to turn the ship around and become a better leader. Learn the science behind why culture and good management matters. Join us today on The Cost of Not Paying Attention, because great leaders make great teams!
