Athena stood on the shores of the island and looked longingly at the horizon. She was thinking of life beyond their realm, a life where she may find happiness and where she wouldn't have to see the man she loves lay with other Goddesses. She wiped a tear away from her cheeks and shuddered at the thought. How could she feel so deeply for someone that barely acknowledged her existence. Was she that unpleasant to look at?
Her musings were interrupted by the sound of sandals descending the marble steps. Her breath caught as she spotted him. His perfectly sculpted chest glistened in the afternoon sun. He oozed raw power and she wanted nothing more than to be the only object of his desire. As he slowly approached she closed her eyes and thought "this is it".
But nothing happened. Confused and dejected she opened her eyes again to see him jogging down the beach. "Is this how things are going to be with us?" she thought to herself.
Suddenly something snapped in her and she yelled his name as loudly as she could "Hercules".He stopped and turned to face her, his blonde hair whipping in the wind as he closed the space between them.At this moment she felt empowered, she was going to take charge of her destiny, she was going to tell him how she felt.He was close enough for her to smell the coconut oil in his hair. Slowly she confessed her feelings for him and waited. She watched as his facial expression went from passive to disgusted. He clearly didnt feel the same. She felt hurt beyond words. How can she recover from this.
