Zara Barrie and Dayna Troisi first met working together at GO Magazine, one of the nation’s preeminent and most widely read LGBT+ publications. Since then, they started a podcast together, girlZ, interrupteD, which they define as a “mental illness” podcast, not a “mental health” podcast.
They’re both absolutely amazing in their own ways. Zara is the Executive editor of GO Magazine, senior writer for Elite Daily, and author of Girl, Stop Passing Out Your Makeup: The Bad Girl’s Guide to Getting Your Sh*t Together. Dayna is a writer and managing editor for GO Magazine, has a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry, and teaches creative writing at Hofstra University.
Zara and Dayna are so fun and the chemistry in this episode is real. There are lots of welcome overshares and some moments that are “so Long Island”. Everyone gets real about sex and relationships and Z+D share hard truths about the challenges of growing up lesbian. Ultimately, this one’s full of laughs and silliness and so many underground lesbian terms. (have you ever heard of dopplebanging?)

AM Davies is a recently-retired stripper who now focuses on advocacy and activism. The term “sex work” refers to a broad range of professions. Because much of sex work is criminalized or poorly understood by lawmakers, workers' rights are often not guaranteed. Learn about the difference between legalization and decriminalization and why one is better than the other. Discriminatory policing leads to more arrests and harsher punishments for sex workers who belong to marginalized groups. Sex workers need to be listened to and involved in the process of shaping the laws and regulations that apply to them.

The Cherry Chats still isn't officially launched but we thought it was important to have this conversation now. The leaked Supreme Court draft that threatens to roll back Roe v. Wade would put a lot of people across the country in real danger. Cynthia Plotch and the team at at Stix are working tirelessly to provide desperately-needed reproductive healthcare. Logan, Anushka, Maxine, and Cynthia have a round table discussion about how we can all pitch in to protect this vital human right.
