The Summer of 2015 at 10 with Scott Mendelson & Aaron Neuwirth: EPILOGUE

The Summer of 2015 at 10 is a weekly retrospective journey through American pop culture during May, June, July and August of 2015. Brandon Peters, Puck News and The Outside Scoop’s Scott Mendelson and We Live Entertainment/2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla/Out Now with Aaron and Abe’s Aaron Neuwirth take a weekend by weekend look at the films released during the summer as well as the news stories, television and music that rounded out the public’s lives as they lined the pockets of the box office to see these movies.

EPILOGUE: This is it. Our lookback/overview of the summer we just re-experienced. Our thoughts on what we learned, the worst 5, discoveries and top 10 films of summer 2015 lie in this episode. Also in this episode, we announced the winner – as chosen by you the listener – of the year of the next summer we shall be discussing!

We’ll also be discussing the box office report, notable news stories, the top 10 Nielsen rated tv programs for the week and the top 10 of Ryan Seacrest’s weekly American top 40 from the week these films were released.

Summer of 2015 at 10: “The Hills” by The Weeknd with Pres Maxson

The Summer of 2015 at 10 Music Video Companion series will post every Friday, featuring a discussion of a music video from a song featured in the Ryan Seacrest American Top 40.

As we always do, our jingles guy Pres Maxson is here for the final music video of The Summer of 2015 at 10. Since The Weeknd had 3 top 10 hits at this time, we are doing another one with a decently visioned music video in that of “The Hills”. Also, don’t miss out on our announcement of this year’s Holiday episode coming this December around Christmas/Hanukkah time.

Thank you for listening to The Summer of 2015 at 10 series! We return Monday with an all new installment!

Tarkovsky’s Tales Part 6: Stalker (1979) with Steven Warren HIll

Believe it or not, 1979’s Stalker is one of the earliest and most requested movies to be discussed on The Brandon Peters Show. This science fiction masterpiece from Andrei Tarkovsky was first requested from a listener during the third week of the show. I’ve also had multiple guests bring it up as one to discuss. Well, it’s all over now and Steven Warren Hill and I were in the “zone” with a fantastic deep dive for you.

Steven Warren Hill once again joins me for this discussion. When this retrospective picks up again in September we’ll be looking at Nostalghia and Voyage In Time from 1983. .

August 28-30, 2015: This is it! The final batch of movies and it’s a 5-film banger to close out 2015. Dave Matthews Band: 20 Years Of Stand Up with Renae Lipsmeyer

I’m sidestepping The Summer of 2015 at 10 for an episode this week as I’ve been wanting to have a Dave Matthews Band discussion on this show for sometime now. If you didn’t already know, I have a superfandom in this realm having seen them 80 times now and loads of statistical knowledge and history in my head about them. Their 2005 album Stand Up turned 20 years old this summer and it’s proven a divisive one at times among the fandom.

I couldn’t think of a better copilot for this journey back than Renae Lipsmeyer who produces and hosts The Space Between Podcast which focuses on fandom sharing their passion for the band. Renae has such a good, positive thinking head on her shoulders when approaching DMB that she is the PERFECT fit for The Brandon Peters Show.

Forewarning, this discussion is possibly not new user friendly when it comes to DMB, but maybe it is and maybe it intrigues you to check some stuff out. Renae and I “Dive In” pretty hardcore into sharing our own tales as we look back at this album’s journey and the songs that made it what it is. I appreciate any of you checking it out and hopefully we will say “Hello Again” to more DMB episodes (and Renae!) in the future!

August 21-23, 2015: The penultimate week here on The Summer of 2015 at 10 movie discussion and it’s a pretty tough one to get through. It starts fine with She’s Funny That Way, but boy is it the polar opposite when we get to Hitman: Agent 47 at the end. Bear with us, and to those of you who watch along with us – WE FEEL YOU!

Tarkovsky’s Tales Part 5: Mirror (1975) with Steven Warren Hill

And we’re back! Tarkovsky’s Tales takes us to a very personal film of his in Mirror. A collection of memories, thoughts, ideas, reckoning and more is on full display as Andrei spills it to us in a surreal, abstract fashion. A highly regarded film, both of us enjoy patches, do our best to decipher things and also discuss why this one can be a tough nut to crack.

July 17-19, 2015: This one of the best or most intriguing rosters of the summer with good variety. There’s a nice little Woody Allen oddity, a new take on a classic British icon, a modern rom com and another Marvel family movie. Fun discussions be had over Irrational Man, Mr. Holmes, Trainwreck and Ant-Man.

Summer of 2015 at 10: “Good For You” by Selena Gomez with Greg McGoon

The Summer of 2015 at 10 Music Video Companion series will post every Friday, featuring a discussion of a music video from a song featured in the Ryan Seacrest American Top 40.

Greg McGoon is back and we are talking Selena Gomez as she shifts her persona to a more personal side with “Good For You”. We discuss how her approach to showcasing her sexuality differs from that of her peers and predecessors with a more mature, elegant approach and the benefits of the music because of that.

Thank you for listening to The Summer of 2015 at 10 series! We return Monday with an all new installment!

Poorly Described Movies: The Game LIVE! From PopCon 2025 with Chris Johnson

It’s your favorite game once again! I continue to be excited and grateful that people show up in droves for Poorly Described Movies: The Game. It’s also a great joy to share the stage and mic with the fantastic Chris Johnson of The Normies.

We have a winner much quicker than Days of the Dead a few weeks prior. Lots of fun and odd tie in prizes for some of the winners. We can’t wait to see you all again for another round, stay peeled for when that will be!

The Brandon Peters Show will return tomorrow with Selena Gomez music video for “Good For You” with Greg McGoon.
