In this episode we "begin again" and focus on the Bitcoin vs Gold Switching strategy.
Gold and Bitcoin (Digital Gold) have emerged as two distinct stores of value and investors often find themselves grappling with the decision of allocating their assets between these two assets. Let's delve into the comparison between gold and Bitcoin.
Gold, a traditional and time-tested investment, has been a store of value for centuries. Its physical presence provides a tangible asset that is not tied to any government or central authority. Gold has been a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty, making it a reliable choice for conservative investors. Its scarcity and intrinsic value contribute to its stability over the long term.
On the other hand, Bitcoin, a digital cryptocurrency, is a relatively new entrant to the financial landscape. It operates on a decentralized blockchain, offering transparency and security.
Bitcoin's appeal lies in its limited supply, with a maximum of 21 million coins, creating a sense of scarcity similar to gold. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin also positions it as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies, especially in regions experiencing economic instability.
One key difference between gold and Bitcoin is the ease of transfer and storage.
Bitcoin transactions can be conducted seamlessly across borders, 24/7, without the need for intermediaries. In contrast, transporting and storing physical gold can be cumbersome and expensive.

Former public defender Erika Knierim shares her story from growing up in a small town with incredibly supportive parents. They encourage her to accept big challenges and not be afraid of failure. Her stoic German father, together with a passionate Columbian mother was the perfect combination to learn how to live with passion, embrace classical music fine arts, beat nerdy boys in Chess Club, all while wearing her cheerleader outfit.
Erika worked her way through law school to become a public defender in Chicago for over a decade. Erika decided to make a leap of faith and brought her keen legal mind and experience to blockchain, securities regulation and the importance of having Adults in The Room (AITR) when raising capital and pitching deals. By sharing her experiences at the now bankrupt Celsius, and the attitude of Sam Bankman Fried of the FTX collapse, Erika is passionate about her mission as CEO and Co-Founder of Nomic Consulting.
Randy shares an interesting and colorful story from running away from home and taking a break from high school, to becoming one of the most important & influential traders at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Randy speaks to us from a gorgeous Colorado backdrop where he uses typical floor trader language (some explicit language) when describing the Crash of 1987, to finally retiring from the business in 2012.

This episode was previously recorded on January 9th, 2023 for our clients. Here I discuss how for the first time in about 12 years, Emerging Markets flipped "positive" against technology, and will likely outperform US domestic markets on a RELATIVE basis in the foreseeable future.
Relative strength measures the performance of one security in comparison to another. For example, how Microsoft is performing compared to the S&P 500, or how the U.S. Dollar is doing relative to the Euro. It doesn't promise positive gains. It just means if for example US markets are +10%; Emerging markets should be up slightly more. If Emerging markets are -5%; then we can anticipate US domestics to be down more than -5%. It's a relationship between two similar assets classes.
