Beşiktaş secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Eyüpspor in their 2025/26 Süper Lig season opener at Tüpraş Stadium, thanks to a last-gasp winner from Rafa Silva in the 96th minute. The Black Eagles took the lead early when Tammy Abraham converted a penalty after Orkun Kökçü was fouled inside the box. But Eyüpspor hit back through Mame Thiam, leveling the score from a corner in the 30th minute.
Despite dominating possession and creating big chances through Abraham, Uduokhai, João Mário, and Rafa Silva, Beşiktaş were repeatedly denied by Eyüpspor goalkeeper Felipe. Just when it looked like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would drop points, Rafa Silva found the net deep into stoppage time, sealing all three points for Beşiktaş in front of their home fans.
The win highlights both relief and concern for Beşiktaş supporters.
While the late winner keeps their title hopes on track, the erformance once again exposed the squad’s lack of natural wingers and attacking depth. After the final whistle, Solskjaer was met with boos despite the victory, showing the high expectations and pressure surrounding the team this season.
