Do you feel like God has stopped listening to your prayers? Are you questioning why He would allow your child to struggle? Will you ever be able to trust God again? In this podcast, you will find solutions to restore your faith in God as a Christian mom raising an autistic or medically complex child. My mission is to equip you to be mighty in your faith through prayer, validation rooted in scripture, and reconnection with God. If you’re ready to believe and trust in God again with everything you’ve faced in motherhood, you’re in the right place. Hey, I’m Ash! Mom of two (one autistic with a rare disease), wife, and former Disney princess turned reverend. When my son was diagnosed with a rare disease at just seven months old, my faith was shaken in ways I never imagined. I prayed, begged, and pleaded with God, only to be met with silence. I felt like He had abandoned me when I needed Him the most. I finally realized that everything I thought I knew about prayer and God had been misguided. I opened my Bible, turned to scripture, became an ordained ministry coach, and discovered a simple framework that made prayer possible again, even in the hardest moments. And I’m ready to share it all with you. If you’re ready to feel refreshed in your faith, fully embrace the title Christian Autism Mom, and feel like God is your BFF (because He absolutely is), this podcast is for you. So fill up your water jug, open your heart, and let’s fill up your spirit together!

23 | How Can I Be an Ally to Parents of Kids with Disabilities? | Why Advocacy Matters

* This podcast is evolving to focus on faith, prayer, and hope for moms raising autistic or medically complex children. Episodes from our earlier parenting-focused series are still here to help, but you’ll now find guidance rooted in Christian faith and prayer.*

Parenting a child with a disability, autism, or rare disease is not something families can do alone, and they shouldn’t have to. Parents often become full-time advocates on top of caregiving, but exhaustion, medical emergencies, and endless appointments mean they can’t always be in the room. That’s where allies come in.

In this episode of Be Mighty Mom, we explore what it really means to be an ally to parents of kids with disabilities and why advocacy matters more than ever. Whether you’re a friend, relative, teacher, church member, or community leader, you can make a real difference by showing up, speaking up, and carrying these kids’ stories forward.

Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode:

Why families need allies when navigating schools, hospitals, and systems

How advocacy improves outcomes for children with autism, rare diseases, and medical complexity

Real examples of allyship—from attending IEP meetings to explaining sensory needs at church or parties

Disability rights history, including how parents and allies helped change federal law for medically complex kids

Five practical steps to being an ally today—listen, learn, show up, speak up, and keep learning

This episode is both an invitation and a challenge: you don’t need to be a parent to make a lasting impact. Every child deserves dignity and understanding, and every parent deserves a community that helps carry the load.

✨ Join the Mighty CommunityWant to keep these conversations going and be part of a movement that supports parents and kids with disabilities? Here’s how to stay connected:

📩 Subscribe to the Weekly Newsletter for encouragement, tools, and real talk on parenting, advocacy, and rare disease life.

💬 Join our Group Chat on Substack to connect directly with other parents and allies.

📸 Follow on Instagram for daily encouragement, behind-the-scenes, and advocacy tips.

📺 Watch on YouTube for full episodes, highlights, and community conversations.
