With the self-doubt looming, Luke must find it within himself to decode his father's journals or face the death of his childhood friend, Julia. But, things get sticky when the message he uncovers is the key to ending Batwoman. And, while he's willing to follow in his father's footsteps and give his life to keep this secret, Batwoman gladly risks her life to give Alice glasses that will translate the book, just so she can have her friends back. But, how good of a friend is Julia? She kept her "boss" a secret and can't back pedal her way out of the fact that she and Kate's ex, Sophie, are hot for each other. We love that Parker returns to give Kate a little love advice while also helping to save the day, proving that she could earn herself a spot on the Bat team. Mary might just be a little jelly! Upon their continued stay in Arkham prison, Alice and Mouse continue to make plans to escape Arkham.  They team up with Tommy Elliot and Magpie for a mission to acquire Lucius’ journal, once they learn of what it contains. Team Batwoman is also on the hunt for the journal, but Kate gets kidnapped while trying to acquire it. Mary is dealing with the knowledge of Kate as Batwoman and expresses interest in helping Team Batwoman.   Kate, however,  is on the fence about her joining, because she doesn’t want anymore harm to come to her family.   Things suddenly change once Mary helps save Batwoman.  The return of another villian creates a problem in the team getting the journal. All of these things conclude with the return of one of Kate’s past flings, and Mary discovers a massive secret previously only known to a few people. After Mouse made himself comfortable in Arkham Asylum, Alice gets him back on the bandwagon and stealing faces to make future diabolical plans of overtaking Arkham. Meanwhile, Kate deals with internal turmoil over killing August Cartwright and has trouble putting on the batsuit. This of course leads her to pulling off her mask in the middle of an open area and then in front of Lucius Fox's killer. Not sure how we feel about that. In that same moment, we also got to see Luke confront his father's murderer with the utmost confidence, it was quite entertaining! And of course, the moment we've all been waiting for, Mary finally drops the bomb and lets Kate know she already is aware that Kate's Batwoman. But, in true Mary nature she only does it when forced to so that she can help Kate find her strength and not be a hero, "but just keep going." This episode picks up where episode 15 ended with Kate Kane having to deal killing a man. Alice is quick to be excited that Kate is more like her now. They bond together to help get Mouse out from Arkham after Commander Kane and his men intercept Kate and Alice trying to catch him before they can. Kate agreed to help Alice only if they do it her way, of not killing anyone. As their mission goes forth, however, Kate makes a decision that will once again alter her relationship with Alice. Meanwhile, the trial for Luke’s Father’s death is pushed forward and he must attend it, only to see the suspect of the crime released. He confronts the killer afterwards, but learns that there is someone else plotting to make sure the truth stays a secret. Thus leaving Gotham with another villain yet to be revealed. Batwoman is forced to "come out" to Gotham after Alice kidnaps hacker,Parker Torez, in an attempt to get Kane to admit she "isn't" a hero and belongs with Alice and Mouse.
