Hello beautiful soul fam, today I have for you a guest that's assteezy as she is impressive, a slayer of dance floors as much as she is an inspiring teacher of self-love & acceptance through movement, the iconic Kelly Cohen.
Kelly is a Moroccan-French-Israeli soul dancer and is best known as a founder of her own dance retreat ‘Meraki Muse Movement’ in Bali & her facilitation of ‘Twerk After Werk’; a dance movement based in hip-hop, advocating for a safe, non judgemental space for woman to gain the confidence we all deserve.
We begin the episode with an exploration of Kelly’s diverse cultural roots and discuss the impact our heritage can have on our lives, she shares stories of being badly bullied as a child and how she used dance and theatre to reclaim her power, and finally we explore the concepts of somatic movement, musicality, flow state, and mirror work as tools for personal growth and expression.
