Hey friends, welcome back to The Apology Accepted Podcast, the space where we dive into real conversations about healing, growth, and creating the life we deserve. I am your host LaTesha Monique, and I am so grateful to have you tune in to this episode! Whether you're tuning in for the first time or you're a returning listener, I’m so glad you’re here, this space is for you, Friend. In this episode of The Apology Accepted Podcast, I’m talking about something so many of us experience but rarely discuss: burnout from poor leadership at work. If you’ve ever felt drained, undervalued, or frustrated in your workplace, this episode is for you because you deserve peace, clarity, and the tools to thrive even in challenging environments.
Reflective Questions
1. Have you ever noticed when your job started affecting your peace outside of work? What were the first signs that something wasn’t right?”
2. How do you protect your energy in a work environment that feels draining or toxic? What boundaries have helped you?”
3. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice about handling difficult managers or workplace stress, what would it be?”
Action Steps
1. Journal Your Burnout Triggers:
· Write down the specific moments, tasks, or interactions that drain you the most at work.
· Next to each, note if it’s within your control or outside your control.
2. Set One Boundary This Week:
· Pick one thing you can say “no” to or one task you can delegate to protect your energy.
· Practice asserting this boundary and notice how it affects your stress levels.
3. Identify Your Support System:
· Make a list of people or resources that can support you professionally or emotionally (friends, mentors, colleagues, online communities).
· Reach out to one person this week for advice, encouragement, or accountability.
4. Reflect on Wins:
· At the end of the week, write down 3 moments where you successfully protected your energy or responded differently to poor leadership.
· Celebrate small victories they are proof of your growth and resilience.
5. Plan Your Next Step:
· Choose one long-term action for yourself this could be updating your resume, talking to HR, seeking mentorship, or creating a self-care routine.
· Commit to taking one small step this week toward that goal.
