In this episode I talk with Alexa Simon, who works as a Sr. Data Engineer for Realeyes (Szeged, Csongrad, Hungary). We talked a lot about her career path starting from a youth going to Math camp, to building big data systems on top of Apache Cassandra® and Apache Storm®, and even building systems for Expedia and Hotels.com. Alexa expanded on some of the day-to-day nuances of being a Data Engineer, even sharing a story of getting Cassandra to run on 2GB of RAM!
