PREGAME: THE MIKE VRABEL BOWL - Titans vs. Patriots. WE DISCUSS!
PREGAME: THE MIKE VRABEL BOWL - Titans vs. Patriots. WE DISCUSS! PREGAME: THE MIKE VRABEL BOWL - Titans vs. Patriots. WE DISCUSS! FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Mike Vrabel’s been here before. Through the first six weeks of his tenure as Patriots coach, the 50-year-old boasts a 4–2 record—with an upset win over the Bills already in his back pocket—and has New England sitting atop the AFC East standings for the first time since the 2022 season. First place is a spot Vrabel knows all too well, and one that brings things full circle this weekend as the Patriots head to Nashville—another place he’s been before. Literally. His opponent in Week 7 will be the same Titans team that fired him less than two years ago. Mike Vrabel Mike Vrabel spent six seasons as the Titans' head coach. / Denny Simmons / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK Over his six seasons in Nashville, Vrabel built the Titans into a perennial contender. He led them to a 54–45 record, three consecutive playoff berths from 2019 to ’21, and AFC South titles in ’20 and ’21. He also helped them reach the AFC championship game in ’19, and earned AP Coach of the Year honors in ’21 after earning the AFC’s No. 1 seed with a 12–5 season. And yet, despite tallying more wins than losses and building a rock-solid culture, Vrabel’s Titans never truly broke through. Two consecutive losing seasons followed that promising 2021, and he was let go by the club in January of ’24. What makes a revenge game? As Vrabel prepares for his much-anticipated return to Nissan Stadium, this time in a different shade of blue, he’s doing his best to block out the noise. “I think it would file under the category of, ‘Is it interesting or important?’” he explained on Monday morning when asked about going back to Nashville, delivering his signature line. “I would probably say this would be very interesting. But in the end, not very important to our preparation or what we need to continue to try to do to improve as a team.” But let’s not sugarcoat it. This one means more. It has to. While Vrabel has done his part in shouldering the blame for his own demise in Tennessee, there were plenty of other circumstances that led to his eventual firing. Between a pedestrian-at-best quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, his front office trading wide receiver A.J. Brown out from under his nose, and having to report to a meddling team owner in Amy Adams Strunk, it’s fair to say Vrabel’s hands were tied down the stretch of his time with the Titans. POSTGAME: TITANS LOSE to the RAIDERS 20-10. WHY?......What is WRONG with the OFFENSE?
LAS VEGAS – The Titans better hope what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas. In the Sin City, the Titans committed plenty of sins to get them beat in a 20-10 loss to the Raiders. The loss halted the positive feelings coming from last week's win at Arizona, and it dropped the team to 1-5. Quarterback Cam Ward threw a touchdown pass late, but the Titans sputtered on offense for most of the day and turned the ball over three times. While the defense battled, and did its part to keep the game close, this wasn't a day for complementary football, as the Titans couldn't muster up much offense on a day when Ward was sacked five times, and was responsible for all three of the team's turnovers. Ward finished the day 26-of-38 passes for 222 yards and an interception. Ward also lost two fumbles on the day. The Titans were forced to play catch-up football from the get-go, and they couldn't do it. The Raiders took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on a 50-yard field goal from kicker Daniel Carlson on their opening possession. While the Titans defense created havoc early, providing consistent pressure on Raiders quarterback Geno Smith, the offense struggled to get anything going. Then, late in the second quarter, disaster struck. That's when Raiders linebacker Devin White sacked Ward deep in Tennessee territory, forcing a fumble in the process. The Raiders recorded it at the Titans two-yard line, and cashed it in a short touchdown pass from Smith to tight end Michael Mayer to make it 10-0. The Titans appeared to be headed for points at the end of the first half, but Ward was hit as he threw the ball, and it was intercepted. The Titans trailed 10-0 at halftime. The Raiders then stretched the lead to 17-0 midway through the third quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Ashton Jeanty. The Titans finally got on the scoreboard with 1:08 left in the third quarter on a 46-yard field goal by kicker Matthew Wright, which capped an eight-play, 51-yard drive. But the Titans couldn't make it much of a game after that, as the Raiders extended their lead to 20-3 on another Carlson field goal with 7:14 left to make it 20-3. A one-yard touchdown pass from Ward to tight end David Martin-Robinson made it 20-10 with 3:03 left, but it was too little, too late. The Titans return to action next week against the New England Patriots at Nissan Stadium. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

PREGAME: TITANS vs RAIDERS.....2 WINS in a ROW?? We Discuss!
LAS VEGAS -- — The Tennessee Titans opened the season with four consecutive losses and were staring directly at a fifth last weekend before they rallied to beat Arizona. Which puts them in the unusual situation of trying to win back-to-back games. Should the Titans beat the Raiders on Sunday, that would be the first time they have posted consecutive victories since Nov. 17, 2022, when they beat Green Bay after topping Denver five days earlier. “Hey, it has been a long time, and this is our opportunity to do it,” tight end Chig Okonkwo said. “Like we say over here, winning cures everything. So the vibe is high. So now we can just keep this momentum going forward and take it to Vegas.” The Raiders have their own concerns heading into this matchup of 1-4 teams. They opened their season with an encouraging victory at New England, with optimism abounding that the franchise might be turning the corner under first-year coach Pete Carroll. Las Vegas hasn't won since. Quarterback Geno Smith has borne much of the blame for the slow start. He has thrown a league-high nine interceptions. “Six of the interceptions this year were tipped in the air. Johnny-on-the-spot defensive guy,” Smith said. "Am I going to look at that and say, ‘Well, don’t throw it to the guy who we’re supposed to throw it to?’ I’m going to throw it to the guy I’m supposed to, and at times, things happen. "People get caught up in results, and they want to look at statistics and try to place blame because that’s just how life goes when you’re in the position I’m in. But I’m a lot smarter than that and I’m aware of the process. I know exactly what I’m doing out there.” Maybe the Raiders will find the winning formula similar to what the Titans discovered against the Cardinals. Tennessee came back from down 21-6 in the fourth quarter to win 22-21. “It looked like they were dead and gone,” Carroll said. “They just kept battling and hanging in there, and they really made a bunch of plays to make it happen. They earned every bit of it.” Target the tight ends Rookie quarterback Cam Ward finding tight ends Okonkwo and rookie Gunnar Helm helped the Titans’ offense kick into gear during their comeback in Arizona. Ward targeted the tight ends 10 times for a combined eight catches for 82 yards. Helm had one catch for 3 yards by halftime with Okonkwo shut out. “I haven’t given them enough chances this year, which I did this past week, and they saw what they can do, especially after the run, getting us those (yards after the catch),” Ward said of his tight ends. “So we got a very talented group of tight ends, but we just got to continue to feed them, continue to get them more involved, and it’s going to continue to help us.” Okonkwo said he and Helm have been like a “safety blanket” with what they can do, especially after the catch. “Me and Gunnar complement each other in the ways that we play, so I’m glad that they’re seeing that,” he said. Back in the lineup Michael Mayer is back in the lineup after missing two games with concussion symptoms, and the Raiders need him. Fellow tight end Brock Bowers is still contending with a knee injury that has dogged him nearly all season. Mayer said he's ready to be the No. 1 tight end if called upon. “I'm definitely going into the game thinking that for sure,” Mayer said. “I'm going to prep for it, study for it. The decision's ultimately not mine, but I'm going to be ready for it.” Healing up The Titans have tried protect Ward without starting right tackle JC Latham during the past four games. POSTGAME: TITANS Defeat CARDINALS 22-21....in an INCREDIBLE ComeBack Victory!!
POSTGAME: TITANS Defeat CARDINALS 22-21....in an INCREDIBLE ComeBack Victory!! GLENDALE, AZ ― Well, how about that: The Tennessee Titans won a football game. They put their 10-game losing streak to bed with a 22-21 comeback versus the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Oct. 5, getting coach Brian Callahan and quarterback Cam Ward their first win as a tandem. The Titans (1-4) trailed by 15 points for most of the game and looked poised to go down three scores in the fourth quarter on a long Arizona run, but a mental mistake turned what should've been six Arizona points into Titans football. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward responded with a scoring drive. Then the Titans defense forced a quick stop. Then the Titans scored a touchdown on a play that started with a Cardinals interception. Suddenly the score was 21-19 with a little under five minutes to play, and the Titans needing a stop to finish the comeback. Arizona drained some clock, but the defense came up with its stop, getting the ball back to the offense with 1:53 left and no timeouts from the Titans' own 18-yard line. After a couple quick completions, Ward found tight end Chig Okonkwo for 16 yards to get the team near midfield and then a 38-yard dagger to receiver Calvin Ridley to get the Titans well into kicker Joey Slye's range. Slye connected on a 29-yard field goal to win the game. Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now. What the heck happened there? Ward nearly threw the game away. At the 4:53 mark in the fourth quarter, Ward dropped back on a third-and-2 from the Cardinals' 20-yard line trailing by nine points. An incompletion wouldn't have been the worst thing; the Titans could've easily kicked a field goal from there and made it a one-score game. But Ward forced a pass to Ridley into a tight window and was intercepted by safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, seemingly ending the Titans' threat. Not so fast. Taylor-Demerson went to the ground untouched after the interception and couldn't keep control of the football. Madness ensued. Several Cardinals tripped and kicked the ball backward trying to recover the fumble. Titans receiver Tyler Lockett squeezed ahead and landed on the ball in the end zone. Touchdown, Lockett's first as a Titan. Cam Ward stats: One gutsy quarter Ward was erratic, late on several throws and couldn't find any rhythm on deep shots. He only completed 5 of his 16 attempts in the first half, finishing with just 58 passing yards. Factor in sacks, and the Titans only netted 42 yards through the air before halftime, with the offense stalling across midfield three times. Get the 4th and Monday newsletter in your inbox. Expert guide of the week's NFL action, game results and must-see moments. Delivery: Mon Your Email For a brief moment in the fourth quarter, Ward showed signs of life. With the Titans trailing 21-6, Ward orchestrated a six-play, 80-yard drive headlined by a 47-yard deep crosser to Ridley that got the Titans into the red zone for the first time in eight quarters and a 19-yard rainbow to tight end Gunnar Helm perfectly lofted over Helm's outside shoulder that set up a 1-yard Tony Pollard touchdown. Ward finished the day 21-for-39 with 265 yards and an interception. Ridley caught five passes for 131 yards. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

PREGAME : Titans vs. Cardinals...0-4....Do the TITANS HAVE A CHANCE? WE DISCUSS!!
The Tennessee #Titans and Arizona #Cardinals meet in Week 5 action in Glendale, Arizona, this Sunday. The two teams have met a total of 12 times, with the Cardinals winning eight of those matchups. The #TITANUP look to change that this week, but it won't be an easy task. The Cardinals are an unpredictable team that keeps games close regardless of whether they win or lose. The Titans have shown flashes of potential, but have been unable to capitalize on much of anything. The matchup between these teams provides some intriguing fantasy football options on both sides of the ball. Let's take a look at some players to start and sit in fantasy football from this Week 5 matchup. Start: TE Trey McBride, Arizona Trey McBride has been Kyler Murray's top target all season. Marvin Harrison Jr. is making a case for himself as well, but McBride leads the Cardinals with 234 receiving yards. The Titans' defense struggles in the middle third, so if Murray targets McBride there, he could end up averaging 13 yards per catch like he did against the Carolina Panthers. Sit: WR Calvin Ridley, Tennessee This was a tough decision. Ridley hasn't played well through the first four weeks of the season. He has 10 receptions on 24 targets for 141 yards, a 41% catch rate, and zero touchdowns. He will be targeted this week against a weak Cardinals' secondary, but trusting him to catch the ball is a risk right now. If you truly need a receiver from this team, grab Elic Ayomanor. He has 12 receptions on 25 targets for 151 yards and a touchdown. His catch rate is still under 50%, but it's higher than Ridley's. Start: QB Kyler Murray, Arizona The Titans' defense struggles mightily against the run and has not been good at getting pressure on the quarterback. That could change this week with Jeffery Simmons set to take advantage of Evan Brown, who has struggled to gain leverage and anchor. This will cause Murray to roll out more often than he would like, which also means he will run with the ball more often than he'd like. With the Cardinals using their third-and fourth-string running backs, Murray becomes the focal point of the run game. Start: RB Tony Pollard, Tennessee If there's anything about the Titans' offense that is good, it's Tony Pollard. Okay, that's not really fair, but Pollard is the most reliable offensive player the Titans have. He is a volume back; he's not going to average five yards per carry like Christian McCaffrey, but he will get plenty of touches. And, he's one of the first players to find the end zone for Tennessee regularly. The Cardinals' run defense is solid, ranking in the top 10, but Pollard is essentially the Titans' entire run game right now. He will get his yards this week. Start: WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Trey McBride may be the top-targeted player so far, but Harrison is making a case for himself to be Murray's favorite. He's also facing a Titans' secondary that has allowed six passing touchdowns and ranks 22nd versus wide receivers. In his second year, Harrison is finding his footing and learning to fully implement his talents on the field. He will get his targets this week, and he's likely to give L'Jarius Sneed a run for his money when he does catch the ball. Sleeper: RB Emari Demercado, Arizona The starting running back by default, Demercado, is in his third season in the NFL. Trey Benson was placed on injured reserve this week, and James Conner was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, which is how Demercado ended up the starting running back. He has just four carries in 2025, but as the lead back, he will get 12-15 touches on Sunday. The Titans' run defense is fifth-worst in the NFL, which means that Demercado could have a breakout game. POSTGAME: Titans LOSE to the COLTS 41-20 - 0-3....WHY?????????????
POSTGAME: Titans LOSE to the COLTS 41-20 - 0-3....WHY????????????? NASHVILLE – Titans fans will not want to remember the 21st day of this September. That's because the Colts came to town and had way too much fun while handing the Titans a 41-20 loss at Nissan Stadium. The Titans were forced to play catch up from the start on Sunday, and they couldn't do it.Now they're faced with having to dig out of a hole after falling to 0-3 on the season.Titans quarterback Cam Ward completed 23-of-38 passes for 219 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was sacked four times in the contest. On defense, the Titans couldn't stop the Colts. Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor ran for 102 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Daniel Jones threw for 228 yards and a score. The Titans couldn't sustain drives, and kicked too many field goals.Once again, it was not a recipe for success.Sunday's game got off to an ominous start, as the Colts returned Ward's first interception of the season for a touchdown on the game's opening series. It was Kenny Moore who stepped in front of a Ward pass intended for Tony Pollard, and he returned it 33 yards to make it 7-0 just 49 seconds into the game. The Titans got three points back in less than two minutes, however, when kicker Joey Slye made a 57-yard field goal to cap off a short drive. The Colts then scored 10 straight point, first on a 24-yard field goal by kicker Spencer Shrader, and then on a one-yard touchdown run by Taylor to make it 17-3.Another Slye field goal, this one from 42 yards, made it 17-6 with 10:50 left in the second quarter. The two teams both missed field goals in the second quarter, including a 64-yard attempt by Slye, which was his first miss of the season.Slye later missed another long field goal after a forgettable possession late in the first half, and the Colts kicked another field goal to lead 20-6 at the half.Things got worse, before they got better. And on this day, things never really got better. The Colts stretched the lead to 27-6 on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jones to receiver Michael Pittman early in the third quarter. The Titans answered with a long scoring drive of their own, and capped it off with a one-yard touchdown run by Pollard to make it 27-13 with 5:09 left in the third quarter. But a 46-yard touchdown run by Taylor made it 34-13 Colts with 1:27 left in the third quarter.Ward then directed a 16-play, 77-yard drive that he capped off with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Elic Ayomanor to make it 34-20 with 8:40 left in the contest before another touchdown run by Taylor made it 41-20 with 5:53 left. The Titans return to action next Sunday at the Houston Texans. POSTGAME: Titans LOSE to the RAMS 33-19....starting 0-2...WHY????
POSTGAME: Titans LOSE to the RAMS 33-19....starting 0-2...WHY???? NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Matthew Stafford threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns and the Los Angeles Rams spoiled rookie Cam Ward’s NFL home opener, scoring 20 straight points to beat the Tennessee Titans 33-19 Sunday. Wide receiver Puka Nacua also ran 45 yards for a touchdown. Davante Adams had 106 yards receiving and a touchdown catch. Joshua Karty also kicked two field goals. The Rams (2-0) sacked the No. 1 overall draft pick five times. Linebacker Byron Young had two, and he also stripped Ward of the ball at the Titans 21 on his second sack. Tennessee, which led 13-10 at halftime, was up 16-13 when the Rams made their almost perfunctory comeback. Stafford put the Rams ahead to stay with an 8-yard TD pass to Davis Allen late in the third quarter. After Ward’s fumble, Stafford needed three plays to put the Rams up 27-16 with 9:40 left on a 16-yard TD pass to Davante Adams. Blake Corum added a 1-yard TD run with 6:45 left. The Titans (0-2) now have lost eight straight going back to last season. They didn’t have right tackle JC Latham or nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat. PRESEASON: Titans Defeat Falcons 23-20. First Team Offense....Questions or Roster Talent? WE DISCUSS
ATLANTA (AP) Kendell Brooks scored on a 53-yard interception return and rookie quarterback Cameron Ward had mixed results as the Tennessee Titans beat the Atlanta Falcons 23-20 in a preseason game Friday night. Joey Slye's 23-yard field goal with 9:03 remaining gave Tennessee (1-1) the lead. Falcons backup quarterback Emory Jones was stopped on a fourth-down run near the Tennessee 20 with 2:57 remaining. Jones was shaken up on the hit by linebacker Amari Burney and cornerback Jemari Harris. Jones walked off the field with assistance. Ward played three series and completed 2 of 7 passes for 42 yards. Ward's highlight was a 35-yard completion to Elic Ayomanor on the Titans' opening series. Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, had another long pass dropped by Van Jefferson. The teams traded third-quarter touchdowns. Jemar Jefferson's 16-yard scoring run, which capped a 13-play drive, gave the Titans a 20-13 lead. Easton Stick, who played the first three quarters for Atlanta, threw a 52-yard scoring pass to Chris Blair to tie the game. Brandon Allen, who played behind Ward, threw a 25-yard scoring pass to tight end Gunnar Helm late in the first half. Nathan Carter produced the Falcons' first touchdown with a 43-yard run in the third quarter. Younghoe Koo kicked field goals of 42 and 36 yards for Atlanta (0-2). Among the Titans held out on offense were RB Tony Pollard, WRs Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, RG Kevin Zeitler. Center Lloyd Cushenberry, who passed his physical Monday as he continues his return from an Achilles tendon injury, participated in pregame drills but did not play. Atlanta's top two quarterbacks, starter Michael Penix Jr. and backup Kirk Cousins, sat out for the second straight preseason game after receiving the bulk of the snaps in team drills in two joint practices against the Titans this week. RB Bijan Robinson and WRs Drake London and Ray-Ray McCloud also were spectators. Falcons rookie edge rusher Jalon Walker was held out after playing last week in a 17-10 loss to Detroit. The game completed a string of nine nights away from home for the Titans, who had a joint practice at Tampa Bay last week before their 29-7 loss to the Buccaneers. Trevor Siemian, who was signed Monday, took over at quarterback for Tennessee in the fourth quarter and led the drive capped by Slye's go-ahead field goal. Siemian spent much of 2024 on the Titans’ practice squad. He replaced Tim Boyle, who was released after completing only 4 of 13 passes for 24 yards with two interceptions against the Buccaneers. Stick, competing for Atlanta’s No. 3 quarterback job, completed 15 of 25 passes for 145 yards with one touchdown and the one interception returned for a touchdown by Brooks. Allen completed 11 of 14 passes for 119 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Titans: Following two road games, the Titans host Minnesota next Friday night. Learn more about your ad choices. PRESEASON GM1: Titans Lose to Bucs 29-7. Ward solid in NFL preseason debut, leading a scoring drive
Aug 9, 2025 #Buccaneers #Titans #TennesseeTAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Cam Ward’s pro debut was solid, if unspectacular. The first overall pick in this year’s NFL draft completed five of eight passes for 67 yards, but more importantly was composed and looked comfortable running Tennessee’s offense in the Titans’ 29-7 preseason-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night. Two days after working against the #Buccaneers defense in a joint practice at Tampa Bay’s training facility, Ward played three offensive series, including an impressive second-quarter touchdown drive that gave the #Titans a glimpse of what the franchise is counting on to be a bright future with him at quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 219-pound rookie completed three passes to Calvin Ridley to account for all but 15 yards on the 11-play, 65-yard TD drive Tony Pollard finished with a 1-yard scoring run. That came after the #Tennessee offense spent more than 14 minutes of the opening quarter on the sideline while Tampa Bay was building a 10-0 lead and a whopping 143-5 advantage in total yardage while running 22 plays to Tennessee’s 3. Ward began his team’s only scoring drive with a 27-yard completion over the middle to a wide-open Ridley and later led his target cutting across the middle again with a nice throw for a 13-yard gain into Tampa Bay territory. The rookie got away with his worst throw of the night when #Bucs cornerback Josh Hayes made a nice adjustment on a sideline throw intended for receiver Elic Ayomanor but was unable to hang on to the ball for an interception. Ward, who had no turnovers and was not sacked, left the game after leading one more drive that ended with a punt. Backup Brandon Allen entered to kneel down on the final play of the first half, then shared playing time after halftime with Tim Boyle. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
