#085 - Outdated Brand? Here’s the Truth About When to ReBrand (Most People Miss This)

In this exciting new episode of Tea Time with Cassia Marina, I’m breaking down everything you need to know about when to refresh or completely rebrand your business.

As a brand strategist, web designer, and graphic designer, I often see businesses holding onto outdated visuals, messaging, or positioning.

Today, I’m here to help you identify the clear signs that it’s time for a change. Whether it’s a brand refresh to modernize your look or a full-on rebrand to overhaul your identity, I’ll explain the key differences between the two and when each is appropriate.

We’ll explore examples of brand refreshes (like KFC’s subtle updates) versus total rebrands (hello, Twitter to X!) and dive deep into how you can tell when it’s time to tweak your brand.

Plus, we’ll talk about the importance of a brand audit and how it helps you gain clarity on what’s next for your business.

By the end of this episode, you’ll know exactly what to look for, whether your brand needs a simple facelift or a complete makeover.

Let’s get your brand looking as good as your business deserves!

Tea Time with Cassia Marina
A Full Cup of Tea: 2023 Reflections & Lessons

In this episode I mention starting my first online business an eCommerce website in 2019, but it’s important to correct that. It was actually started in 2012.

On this episode there are some notable mentions to conversations with Stephanie of The SoVerveLounge and confirmation of a realization I had through a post from Juma Bannister of The Useful Content Podcast.

I go on to reveal some of many lessons from 2023, both business and personal (as the two will always overlap, let no one tell you any different) including:

  • The trap of relying solely on any one platform for your business, marketing, or content creator career. There is just so much to more any one platform
  • Emphasizing the importance of being present and intentional in offline relationships, particularly for mompreneurs navigating the digital space. I share some personal insights and parenting lessons.
  • Providing a fresh perspective on the relationships we cultivate in the online realm.
  • Discussing the potential drawbacks of short-form content, how it can be very unhelpful, unhealthy, and even harmful to how we consume and apply free strategies or takes from our favorite educational content creators or in general
  • The necessity of revisiting the basics in 2024 and beyond, shedding habits and teachings acquired in the online space over the past four years.

As a bonus:

I touch on the crucial topic of diversity in the online realm, with a nod to those who understand the significance (IYKYK). This episode is a comprehensive and heartfelt exploration that you won't want to miss.

As a brand strategist and web designer, content creator and graphic designer...I know the importance of choosing the right software, and today, I'm going to share my thoughts on the age-old battle: Canva versus Adobe.

We'll explore the strengths and weaknesses of these two giants in the design industry. Canva, known for its user-friendly interface and a plethora of templates, has been a game-changer for many businesses and individuals. On the other hand, Adobe, with its powerful creative suite, offers a different level of sophistication. Which one is right for your needs? I'll help you answer that question.

But that's not all!

Stick around until the end of the episode, where I have an exciting bonus for you. I'll unveil the latest news updates from Zoom and Canva that are set to revolutionize your workflow. And Canva has something magical in store - "Magic Studio™," where you can access all the power of AI in one place. This innovative feature is a game-changer for graphic designers and content creators, and I'll tell you exactly why.

I linked the very first episode and you definitely want to start from there and work your way up. I truly appreciate her earlier episode because it focuses on the fundamentals.

The more recent episodes (let’s say from #125 onwards) you have to comb through a lot of interviews and other more advanced things to find the simple advice we all need at times that initiates that mental shift.

#069-My Truth with Battling Depression & Entrepreneurship

This episode I get transparent and vulnerable around my challenges with depression and entrepreneurship. To be clear this episode is not make you feel sorry for me but to create awareness and hopefully normalize the conversation around mental health issues.

I touch on things like:

  • The undertones of mental health themes in my own content
  • stats around mental health and being a business owner
  • I hope you have a better understanding of the risk of mental health as you either start business or be in business for years
  • understand that it’s nothing to be ashamed about but rather be aware of so you can manage it
  • how much having a support system is (friends and family yes, but sometimes you simple need therapy, even on the good days, therapy keeps you thriving)
  • therapy is not magic, it's literally no different than going to visit the doctor, it truly does help you feel better, sometimes it's immediate, sometimes it hurts but physical pain is no more important than the pain we cannot see
  • why did I start, how was the first session and what was the journey like since
