Welcome back T&J fam! After months of hard work from Josh's wife, Sarah, we took a long week to explore one of Josh and Sarah's favorite place on earth - New York City. We break down the trip and some of our favorite memories and food experiences. If you are heading that way sometime soon, hit us up at the email below and we'll gladly share our secrets. Following a brief trip recap, we dive into some recent thoughts about the past and things that are gradually disappearing with time. We make our predictions on what is going to disappear next and also identify somethings from the past we wish were still here. Lastly, we highlight some cultural observations from our trip and how getting out of our comfort zone is hard, but also very healthy. Enjoy!

Welcome back T&J fam! This week we wrap up the Dirty Brew Review with some pumpkin cold brew. We have enjoyed going our coffee reviews this month and encourage you to send us your favorite coffee! We'd be happy to review it on the show. Josh then opens up about his secret love of the Blue Jays and how he randomly picked this Canadian team to pull for in baseball. This leads to a discussion about gas stations and how we can feel at home in situations that may not be best. We discuss how both life situations and spiritual situations can feel right but not necessary be right - or healthy. Feel free to send us your thoughts at the email below. And as always . . . enjoy!

Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have another special guest; Hatcher Geary. Hatcher is a local children's pastor and long time friend of Josh. Hatcher has courageously agreed to come on the show to present his case for an eternal conscious hell. As we get started, we briefly define the three traditional Christian views of hell before letting Hatcher lay out why he believes ECT is the most biblically accurate perspective. We wrestle with some of the core components of hell theology and how our different views are informed by scripture. Along the way we try to find common ground and allow the bible to speak the truth we are seeking. Ultimately, none of us converted to a different view, but we all gain a better understand of each other's views. Feel free to send us your thoughts or questions at the email addresses below. We are also posting video episodes to our YouTube account, and shorts to Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. Enjoy!

Welcome back T&J fam! As promised, we have a special guest on this week’s episode! Former mega church pastor, Jeremy Jernigan, joins the pod for an open and honest discussion on the challenges of pastoring and church leadership culture. Jeremy transparently discusses his own experiences and resignation in 2020 and how this has sent him down a rabbit hole of personal growth, deconstruction, and reconstruction. We discuss what this has done for his faith and what he sees ministry looking like moving forward. Jeremy also has a tattoo sleeve, so we had to learn about that as well. Please connect with Jeremy through his website and social media (see below) and enjoy the show!

Welcome back T&J fam! As we promised, we have brought back the Dirty Brew Review for the month of October. This week we throw it back to the only coffee we can start fall with; Pumpkin Spice Latte. Feel free to send us coffee ideas as we plan to use some listener requested coffees the rest of this month. Today, we also learn the difference between Deja Vu and Deja Reve, so buckle your seat belts for that discussion. Lastly, we dive into a discussion on the difficulty American Christians seem to have coexisting with "others". We discuss whether we, as Christians, are called to coexist and debate how much our founding fathers may have put us on the path to power and not coexistence. Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we get a lovely soapbox rant from Marty to start off the show. If you have listened for a while, you know Marty loves to hate on Christian radio during fundraiser week. Well here we go again. This discussion leads to a broader discussion on how spiritual manipulation and abuse happens in the broader Christian culture. We discuss people's fear of honest and what needs to change so that people quit being scarred of the truth. Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we start off with a fun debate about birds in your home. And trust, if that sounds weird, the actual discussion will leave you scratching your head. But somehow it turns into a fun talk about being pranked. Then, following a terrible transition, we dive into a discussion on theology and how our search for "right" theology can become an idol in our lives. Marty opens up about what he has been learning lately, and we discuss how God does not just want you to know about him, he wants you to know him. Enjoy!
Welcome back everyone to another episode of T&J! This week we dive in with a little fantasy football update . . . aka Marty's team sucks. Then Josh opens up about his simmering anger and some recent discussions he has had about counseling. Turns out, many people have a view of therapy that we do not completely agree with. We appreciate the honesty but do not agree with the conclusions. Therefore, we discuss how culture has impacted men, their view of counseling, and try to clarify what counseling is suppose to look like. Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we start out with a little teaser about an upcoming episode we are working on about hell. It seems like this is the theological topic we just can stop talking about! We sprinkle this in with a little bit of "why does Josh text like a psychopath?" and then transition to the topic of the day: the Golden Rule. Many of you know this rule, but did not you know it has some criticism and an entire book written to "fix" it? We dive into this and the greater insight it provides into how we misunderstand things in our western society. As always, we hope you enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have an electrifying episode (pun intended). Josh tells the story of being woken up by gunfire and explosions in his bedroom. What the truth is, we probably will never know. This leads to an unexpected research project into whether lighting is going up or down. We then pivot to a psychological and theological discussion on selflessness. How do we define it? Can it actually be selfish? What are the internal and external aspects? And does the Bible provide any insight. Hopefully we answer all these questions and more. Enjoy!
Welcome back everyone to another T&J! This week we cover a variety of topics, starting with Sasquatch. following a recent discussion with a patient, Marty went down the rabbit hole of all things Yeti. We discuss the likelihood they are real and if they could be the Nephalem discussed in Genesis. We then, somehow, transition to having conversations with our former and future self. How looking at who we want to be in the future can drive decisions we make today. This leads to the acknowledgement that death comes for all and should be embraced, not feared. Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week will prove to be an interested look into the workings of Josh and Marty's mind. What starts out as a simple story about Marty having a wreck, turns into a long story telling path. Although this is not our typical format, it gives you a glimpse into our lives and the way our minds think. We discuss the value of being authentic and how hard it can be to learn to love yourself. As always, feel free to reach out to the address below with thoughts or questions!

Welcome back T&J fam! We finally have vacations out of the way and are back in our normal flow. Have you seen the tiny Jesus figures people have been leaving around? We have and it makes us wonder what people thought of Jesus growing up. Did they think he was athletic, cute, or funny? This leads into a discussion on how God works, the difference in being perfect and being perfectly made, and ways we can see God's work in everything around us. Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! We are back after a couple weeks off due to Josh's vacation and Marty being sick. Josh updates us on his trip to London and France and the extreme luck he ran into along the way. Marty then surprises Josh with his new tattoo and meaning behind the ink. Speaking of which, if anyone knows a tatted guy named Mike in Winston-Salem - tell him Marty says thank you for being a good guy. Anyway, we then dive into the topic of scripture and how we have overcomplicated our beliefs. Feel free to send us your thoughts on the topic as well! Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we dive into the episode with a discussion on irreverent humor. We discuss times we have accidently said inappropriate jokes or made inappropriately timed jokes. This shifts into a discussion on truth and what answers we would want to know the absolute truth to. We then make a hard turn and discuss a thought Marty's wife recently presented after watching a video from Francis Chan. We unpack the weight of salvation and if we are expecting too much from people, which leads to legalistic ideas about getting saved. As always, we hope you enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we have a great discussion that covers several different areas. We take a look at the story of Jonah from a new lens recently presented to Marty. Turns out, many people think Jonah died. Do you? We then take a look at God's will for our lives and how to navigate decision making and figuring out what God has for us. Does He have a specific will? Can we find it out? Do we just need to live and stop asking for God to make it clear? We discuss all these questions and more. As always, we hope you enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we start off the episode with a discussion on rituals and how they help us maintain performance at times. Let us know if you have or had a weird ritual you use in sports or another area of life. Then, we dive into a discussion on repression and compartmentalization. Josh discusses how this is a survival skill but wonders if it is healthy for a person. Marty then unpacks the long term impacts of repression and how it can impact a person mentally and physically. This leads to the topic of authenticity and the apparent lack of it in society. We discuss what has caused this and what needs to be present for it to return. As always, we hope you enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week Marty opens up about his newest soapbox - locked doors. If you have an answer as to why doors stay locked, please send it to us at large23onsweetwheat@yahoo.com. Then, we discuss the idea of change and how the church has went through different "eras". We discuss how this has been refining at times and regrettable at other times. If you have an opinion on the topic, let us know at the address above! Enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! This week we come to you from Lexington, SC. We start off the show with a discussion on the PB&J sandwich and foods we have created. Then, we discuss helping people and how this impacts a person's ability to find God. Marty discusses how providing healing can keep people seeing their spiritual need while Josh argues that healing opens the door for God to work. Ultimately, this leads to a debate as to whether we, as humans, really have the power to keep people from God. We hope you enjoy!
Welcome back T&J fam! We launch into this week's pod with a couple of snakes stories, so get ready to have some nightmares! Marty shares about an experience his mother and son had this week and Josh shares about finding snakes naked. Josh's story will have you laughing so hard you cry. We then launch into a discussion on suffering and how hard times create bonds. We discuss how these may seem good in the moment, and some are, but there is also problems that come with these connections. We discuss the spiritual implications of bonding and how this is a God given experience that is not always used for its God given purpose. Enjoy!
