EP 68: Beat up, Swept, but Still Running the West

We are back from the all star break and the fire we thought our team would have is not there yet, and the girls get into all of it. With all the ups and downs, there is always a way to find some good through it all and that is seeing Shohei Ohtani pitch and hit a home run for the first time in a Dodger uniform.

Melissa and Jaclyn share all their thoughts on the Dodgers growing IL list, the team not clicking, and the frustrating losses. They circle back to Kershaw's 3K strikeouts to get them in a good mood and rave about Will Smith and Andy Pages.

The girls share their experience touring the new Ontario Sports Empire Complex and how incredible the minor league stadium is going to be which will open in April of 2026. Adam has a lot to say about it so they get into a debate about whether a state of the art minor league stadium is good or bad for players coming up.

Melissa shares her weekly roundup of what's going on with other teams and fun facts she learned on the broadcast to tell Jaclyn while she was at the game. On the other hand, Jaclyn tells Melissa about what it was like being at Dodger Stadium listening to the crowd boo Carlos Correa.

They are determined to be back next week on a winning streak so let's see what our team can do. Let's go Dodgers!

Deposits are available now for the Ontario Sports Complex & a team name and mascot reveal will be happening on Sept. 18 at the Ontario town square!!

EP 67: She's Got Game: All-Star Week & Getting to know Swilly

This is fun episode we recorded in NYC with someone we met at Spring Training earlier in the season and whose life has changed drastically since then, Swilly aka Swilly Sports! We love connecting with other women in baseball and she is an incredible example of how working hard can turn your passion into a career.

We find out all about her love of baseball, how she got started creating content and how it's going since landing her dream job at Jomboy Media. As an Angels fan, we asked Swilly her thoughts on Shohei being a Dodger, his recent pitching debut, and so much more.

Before you hear our interview with Swilly, we had to come back to our microphones and talk about the Home Run derby, the all star game, opposing team players who stood out to us, and all of our thoughts surrounding all star week.

EP 66: One Sip of Wine for Every Kershaw K

Your girls are so happy to be back together, but it's been a rough road lately for our Dodgers. After Kershaw hit 3000 strikeouts, the Dodgers have had a six game losing streak. Melissa and Jaclyn express their thoughts and feelings after a much needed reset after being back from New Jersey, and even open a bottle of Slugger wine to help ease their frustrations with their team.Jaclyn fills Melissa in on being at the game Kershaw made history, explaining the atmosphere, the energy and every moment leading up to that 6 minute ovation. Melissa recalls watching the game in NJ and the way Kershaw's teammates and family honored him.Jaclyn is still on cloud nine from being at the game and Melissa can't seem to get over the Astros sweeping the Dodgers. They try to understand what is happening with the team, how many injured players the Dodgers have right now, but are still determined to stay positive. The girls try to get Adam to open up as much as possible about his trip back home and going to the Cubs game. He would rather remind them about the time the Cubs beat the Dodgers 16-0. Eddie comes in toward the end to share his experience watching Kershaw hit 3000 strikeouts from behind home plate and relays what Orel Hershiser told him from the broadcast booth.

EP 65: More than Baseball: One Family, Different Teams, Same Love

This is such a special episode because we are at my Aunt Theresa's house in my hometown in New Jersey! When I think of sports growing up, there was no bigger fan than my dad. As you've heard throughout the podcast, he put 3 TV's in our basement to watch every game at once. When my dad died in 2005, baseball has been my biggest connection to him as I found myself yelling the same things he used to yell at the TV but at my new team the Dodgers in a new city of Los Angeles where I decided to book a one way flight to in 2011.

My family has suffered many losses of our loved ones over the years, we all gravitated toward different teams, but we all share the love of baseball.

Losing my cousin Justin in 2023 made me escape into baseball more than ever, and it was the motivation to start this podcast. No one would love what I'm doing more than my dad and more than Justin, so to have my family on my podcast to talk about our baseball roots, our passion for the game, and the ones who are cheering from heaven truly means everything to me.

I couldn't be happier to bring my family on to go back to where it all started. Please meet my Aunt Theresa, Uncle John and my cousins Caitie and Evan who came on to talk about our family roots in baseball, their love of the Mets, their hatred of the Dodgers (and Yankees) and what they think of my podcast!!

Love,

Melissa

EP 64: Live from New Jersey: It's Talk Dodgers to Me!

We have our first hometown episode! After an amazing 3 days at Fanatics fest, the Talk Dodgers to Me team made our way to New Jersey to stay at Melissa's mom's house. Before we do an episode with her family, we sat down to talk all things Fanatics Fest and the last week of Dodger baseball.

We were definitely outnumbered by NY fans at Fanatics Fest but we had so much fun chatting with a Nestor Cortes lookalike, 10 year old "Twinstripe Reporters" and lots of Dodger haters - but always bonded over our mutual love of baseball.

Even though we are experiencing how hard it is to follow west coast baseball while on the east coast, we couldn't not talk about the benches clearing incident with the Padres, Shohei's second pitching outing, Muncy's 200th Dodger grand slam and our boys winning 3 series at home.

We walked into Melissa's mom's house greeted with all of the candies we mentioned in the last episode and even hear her chime in through this episode - yes, her favorite player is Max Muncy. Hope you enjoy our episode live from NJ!

EP 63: Shohei is back & Dodgers Dominate Padres

Your girls have been busy and we had a lot to share with you in this episode! We started off with a recap of our experience meeting Max and Kellie Muncy at their Uncorked for a Cause event. We had so much fun and met so many people in the Dodgers organization from Dave Roberts to friend of the pod Kirby Yates.

We had to talk about the events happening around Los Angeles right now and our thoughts surrounding it as we were there experiencing the emotional national anthem from Spanish singer Nezza.

We talk about another amazing experience getting texted to come to the press box by Orel Hershiser and watching Kershaw dominate the Giants with the best seat in the house. We had to tell you all about it!

And maybe the most anticipated thing for a Dodger fan, Shohei’s pitching debut! We had flashbacks to Tokyo with a crowd silenced waiting for Shohei to take the mound. And the heated “rivalry” with the Padres continues… round 1 goes to the Dodgers and we couldn’t be more satisfied coming out on top.

For those of you who normally listen, make sure to watch this episode for a special edition to our studio!

EP 62: Kellie Muncy

Today we welcome Kellie Muncy to the podcast! We couldn't be more excited to talk to this amazing woman, mom and wife to one of our favorite Dodgers, Max Muncy. We start at the beginning and ask her everything! From Max getting released by the Oakland A's, getting picked up by the Dodgers and all the ups and downs along the way - Kellie was so gracious to share her perspective of their baseball journey. Of course we had to ask about Max's new glasses, the World Series and parade, and how she felt watching Max hit home run number 200.But before we chat with our amazing guest, Kellie, we had to talk about the last week of Dodger baseball. We are so happy for Clayton Kershaw having a great outing against the Cardinals. We talk about the trolling and how excited we are for our future hall of famer to hit 3000 strikeouts. We get into game 1 of the Dodgers/Padres series and give our thoughts on the rivalry... or is it one?Make sure to check out the event Kellie and Max are hosting tonight, Uncorked for a Cause. The online auction is live now so even if you can't attend, you can still help - and there are some amazing items!! EP 61: Jaime Jarrin, Steve Sax & Rick Monday

Welcome back to our Legends' Attic Series. We have quite a line up of Dodger legends today starting off with the Spanish voice of the Dodgers for 64 years, Jaime Jarrin. We love any chance we get to sit with Jaime. We talk about his incredible career, how he knew nothing about baseball when he first started, his friendship with Vin Scully, and what he and his family are up to now.

Next, we have Steve Sax on the podcast for the second time. It's always fun to talk with Steve who is currently doing the pre and post game shows for the Athletics. Steve tells us his thoughts on the current Dodger team, his strong feelings about Mookie Betts moving to shortstop and what Dodgerland was like.

Last but certainly not least, the voice you hear often on Dodger radio and most known for running on the field saving the American flag from being torched, Rick Monday. We could sit and listen to stories from Rick all day! And he starts this conversation with a great one. From fan interactions to why he wears his World Series ring everyday, we loved getting to know Rick.

Another amazing event at Legends' Attic and another opportunity for us to chat with Dodger Legends! Make sure to check out their instagram and website for upcoming events!

From being a kid going to school near Dodger Stadium, growing up trading baseball cards, marrying a Dodger fan and learning about the team to connect with her students, we were blown away by these Dodger fans and their stories. Of course we also asked them about the current team and how they are feeling about the season so far.

Before we hopped on the zooms, Jaclyn and I caught up on the previous week, our event at Legends' Attic, how we felt interviewing so many Dodger legends and a weekend playing the Yankees at Dodger Stadium.

EP 58: A Dodgers Rollercoaster: Pitchers Drop but Bats Don't Stop

We recorded this episode after watching the first couple innings of Kershaw's start against the Guardians, and got game updates from Adam along the way including Kershaw being 26 strikeouts away from 3000!Melissa starts us off with fun facts from around the league. We talk about the Mets series which started off with a crazy game including a rain delay and obstruction calls we had never heard of before. We talk about who's slumping, who's heating up and who's on the IL. We talk about the power of Muncy and his comeback, Conforto getting fired up, Pages on a roll, Yamamoto having another lights out performance and a rocky outing from the Cat Man, meow.We have a hard time picking player of the week because all our guys are just so great! But with Will Smith batting over 400 with RISP and Shohei leading the MLB in home runs and hitting a home run in our last 3 games, we did pick our two. Even Adam got in on the fun. EP 57: Kershaw's Return, Yoshi Brilliance & Secret Mud

We have so much to talk about this episode. From a losing streak to a walk off win, we couldn't wait to sit down and get into everything happening with our Dodgers.

We talk about the gala we went to, a bachelorette party Jaclyn went to in Palm Springs and a wedding Melissa went to in Hearldsburg. Jaclyn tells us about secret mud they use for baseballs.

We had to talk about getting swept by the Angels and getting to see some former Dodgers, but we have way more fun talking about our 19-2 win, Yamamoto's 7 shutout innings and Max Muncy's walk off.

We share our thoughts about Austin Barnes and Chris Taylor leaving the team and Dalton Rushing coming up. We get into Clayton Kershaw's first start back and how we're feeling about the future Hall of Famer.

We honor Vin Scully and share stories we love about him, stories of meeting him, and stories of hopefully my ex-boyfriend hearing this episode and giving me my Vin Scully signed ball back!

EP 56: Shohei Showstoppers & She-E-O Energy

We have so much to talk about today! From our experiences off the field to on the field in more ways than one. We start off on a bang with Shohei's no doubt home run where we saw him troll another team for the first time ever.

We talk about interviewing Orel Hershiser and getting the invite to watch a pre-game show at Spectrum Sportsnet LA. We talk all about the Women in Sports Conference at Dodger Stadium, the inspiring panelists we learned from, and the amazing women we met at the event.

We hit a quick pause to call into the Roggin & Rodney show on AM570 where we learn of Barnes getting DFA'd and share all our thought on that and how the radio show went! And we even have some surprise guests at the end! This is a fun one so hope you enjoy!

EP 55: Orel Hershiser: Becoming Bulldog

We couldn't have anyone other than number 55 himself for this episode, so please welcome back our favorite Dodger legend Dr. Orel Leonard Hershiser IV. From learning about his childhood to getting kicked out of college, we sit with our pal and go back to how he got into baseball in the first place.

We asked Orel what it was like to be Orel Hershiser in 1988 and the years after his World Series MVP award and World Series win. We get into pitching injuries, where the name Bulldog really came from, and we even ask him questions from our mom's in honor of Mother's Day!

We get into how Orel felt about Freddie's grand slam in the World Series to his thoughts on the current team. And as always, we could keep talking to Orel all day long but we'll have to save something for next time! We couldn't be more grateful to have Orel on this episode, in our lives and all of his advice, guidance and support behind our podcast. We really hope you enjoy this episode!

Well, the Dodgers have been on the road for 10 days and although we miss watching them at Dodger Stadium, they have been playing really well! EP 53: Dodgers Bloom: Spring in Full Swing

We are back and so are our players bats! After a bit of a cold streak, our boys came back to Dodger Stadium and have come to life before our eyes. And for those of you who watch our podcast, we are in our new studio! It's coming together and we're excited to have you watch it evolve over the next few weeks.

We've officially swept the Marlins and after taking 2 of 3 from the Pirates, our boys are looking good! It was hard for us to even choose who to name player of the week because a couple of our guys are on fire! We did make a choice so stay tuned towards the end of the episode to see if your choice matches ours.

Adam gives us in game updates so you get our full reaction to our boys scoring 12 yesterday and Max Muncy's first home run of the season! So happy for Max!

We talk about how impressed we are with our team, our experience at a couple different games this week, and a follow up to last weeks episode where we opened up about what's really going on behind the scenes in our personal lives. We ran into my former co-workers from Spago which really made things full circle as that is where I first met Orel Hershiser!

We couldn't thank you listeners enough for your messages of support and encouragement. We hope you reach out when you are at a game so we can meet you!

We also have an exciting interview at the end of the episode with talented singer, Erin Ross. Erin sang the National Anthem at the Laker game a couple weeks ago and was so good, a Dodger owner heard her and asked for her to sing at an upcoming Dodger game! She tells us all about her journey as an artist and experience at Dodger Stadium. We loved chatting with Erin and will be catching her performance Friday, May 7 in West Hollywood at Hotel Ziggy.

We are back and unfortunately, we're coming off of another Dodger loss. Boy are we tired of playing the Cubs! We give our choice for player of the week, how we feel about the Big 3 not hitting, pitchers going down, the woe of errors from our team, and how much the windy city is effecting our boys.

We get personal today and take you in on how things are really going behind the scenes, how Jaclyn is enjoying the podcast so far and the rollercoaster of emotions starting a business is.

We're looking forward to our boys coming back home and hope to see you at the Pirates series this weekend!

EP 51: Steve Sax

We have former Dodger, 2x World Series Champ, NL Rookie of the year, 5x all star and Silver Slugger Steve Sax on the podcast today! I was so excited to talk to Steve and learn all about his playing days and what he's up to now.

Steve tells an amazing story of how advice from his father helped him out of "the yips", what it was like coming to play for the Dodgers right at the start of "Fernandomania", and if he thinks the reaction to Shohei Ohtani is similiar.

We relate on living with grief and how we honor the loved ones we've lost, as Steve has with the foundation he created in his late son's honor, The Capt. Sax Foundation. In an effort to raise money for the cause, Steve partnered with MLB to digitize a painting, "Babe and the Kids," by award-winning sports artist Opie Otterstad. The painting turned NFT is of Hall of Fame baseball players as kids and you can learn about all the different faces in the piece just by clicking on them.

The foundation funds grants and scholarships to students and schools upholding the foundation’s mission of supporting and producing successful aviators.

There's a really fun moment where our friend Orel Hershiser crashes the interview, leading me to ask both of them their thoughts on our current Dodger team.

You can listen to Steve's podcast "Sax in the morning" wherever you get podcasts and hear him broadcasting for the Athletic's this season. Thanks, Steve!

EP 50: Honoring 42, Hustling through the Slump

Today's episode was recorded on Jackie Robinson Day, and before we headed to Dodger Stadium to watch our boys get back in the win column, we had to talk about the last week of not playing our best baseball.

We discuss going to the first game of the Cubs series and how hot Yamamoto was, what happened the next day when Roki was taken out and Ben Casparius came in leading to a momentum shift favoring the Cubs and their hot bats. We visited one of Jaclyn's former softball coaches who has worked at Dodger Stadium for 40 years in the patchroom.

We knew Adam was going to come in hot with his Cubs winning the series and the huge 16-0 shutout, but we stayed positive through it all.

We get into the mental game trying to understand what surrounding our players is helping and what is hurting. Should the media ask different questions? Should fans stop freaking out? We get into it all, and may have even come up with our next jersey fashion venture.

And as we will continue to do, we named our player of the week and discussed our favorite plays and moments despite the struggles. It's just the beginning of the season guys, we're fine!

We share all our thoughts surrounding everything that has gone on this week from our team's decision to visit the White House to errors made defensively, players on the IL, the Dodgers new celebration, and we continue to remind ourselves that we are FINE!

We added a fun new segment to the show where we will name our stand out player of the week. Listen until the end to find out which Dodger won!
