Take care of your body by Ry
Pretty Girls, Public Property? Body Image, Objectification & Sabrina Carpenter

What happens when we stop shrinking ourselves to fit someone else’s story? In this raw and empowering conversation, I’m joined by my friend Morgan Norman — intuitive eating coach, self-love advocate, and founder of The Self Love League — to talk about all things body image, objectification, and reclaiming our power.

We’re pulling back the curtain on the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways society treats women’s bodies like public property, and how that constant scrutiny shapes our confidence, self-worth, and even our relationships. From the way strangers comment on our appearance, to the media’s impossible beauty standards, to those everyday moments that make you want to shrink into the background — we’re breaking it all down.

Morgan shares her journey from chasing an “ideal” body to living in food freedom and radical self-acceptance, plus actionable tools you can start using today to protect your energy and own your body, your story, and your worth.

If you’ve ever felt like you had to change yourself to be loved, or that your value was tied to your appearance, this episode will feel like a deep breath and a permission slip to take up space unapologetically.

🎧 Listen in for:

How objectification shapes body image from a young age

The industry, and celebrities like sabrina carpenter being sexualized.

  • Why confidence is a practice, not a personality trait

  • The truth about “perfect bodies” (and why they’re a scam)

  • Practical ways to start unlearning body shame today

  • ✨ This is the conversation we wish we had years ago.

Beauty hurts.. And History did that. P2. With Kellie Giordano

When the Mirror Became a Battleground

What if everything you believed about diet culture’s origins was only the surface?

In Part 2 of this groundbreaking series, Ry and French PhD student Kellie Giordano go even deeper—unearthing how centuries of spiritual sacrifice, patriarchal control, and historical shame quietly shaped the way we see our bodies today.

    This episode explores:

✝️ How saints’ fasting rituals became twisted into early blueprints for disordered eating

🌹 Why femininity, food, and worth were tangled long before Instagram

📿 The spiritual pressure placed on Catholic girls through the myth of purity

🧠 When anorexia went from divine to diagnosable—and what that shift means

💸 How diet culture thrives as a billion-dollar industry fueled by fear, control, and consumerism

💔 Why so many of us grieve the birthdays, holidays, and milestones we couldn’t fully enjoy—because food became the enemy

    This isn’t just history. It’s personal. It’s political. It’s a reclamation.

It’s time to take back the narrative—one bite, one belief, one brave conversation at a time.

POV: The Ones They Tried to Leave Out, record a podcast episode. Dory & Mike the Othering Podcast.

This week, Ry is joined by Dory and Mike—partners in life and co-hosts of The Othering Pod—for a heartfelt, real, and radically honest conversation about what it means to live in a world that wasn’t built for you.

    We talk:

        •    What “othering” really means (and how to name it when it happens)

        •    How chronic illness and disability impact relationships

        •    Being in love while being in pain

        •    Accessibility, advocacy, and refusing invisibility

        •    Why you don’t have to be “fixed” to be worthy of care

It’s a story of resilience, softness, and rebellion from the margins.

Because sometimes, the ones they tried to leave out?

They’re the ones rewriting the story.

What Writing a Book Before 20 Taught Me About Love & Letting Go

I wrote a book before I turned 20… and somehow, that hurt more than the heartbreak.

In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of “Once Upon a Time, I Survived Myself” — the story I didn’t think I’d live to write. We’re talking about what it’s like to heal in real time, fall in love while falling apart, and why writing my truth was the scariest (and most freeing) thing I’ve ever done.

    You’ll hear about:

    • The heartbreak that nearly derailed me

    • What nobody tells you about publishing your pain

    • The real reason I still believe in softness

    • How I turned survival into a story

    • And what I’m learning to let go of, even if it still hurts

This isn’t just an episode — it’s a permission slip for the girl who’s still figuring it out, still crying between dreams, still trying to believe she’s worth more than the people who couldn’t love her right.

Because maybe your story doesn’t need a happy ending — just an honest one.

Her Chronic Illness almost made her take her own life. Why You should stay/ With Paige

In this raw and life-affirming episode of Take Care of Your Body by Ry, we sit down with Paige—an advocate, storyteller, and survivor—whose chronic illness journey nearly cost her everything.

She shares the moment she realized the only reason she was staying alive was to avoid breaking her godchildren’s hearts. What followed was a journey through medical discrimination, worsening cardiovascular issues, and the crushing weight of depression and isolation. Paige opens up about what it means to be a young Black woman with Long Covid and cardiac complications, constantly dismissed and harmed by the healthcare system meant to protect her.

But this isn’t just a story about surviving—this is a story about speaking up, fighting back, and choosing to live loudly. Paige now uses her voice to advocate for others, tell the truth about medical trauma, and build community for those who feel unseen in their pain.

    Why you should stay:

Because someone out there right now feels like no one would understand—and this episode might be the moment that proves them wrong.

Because sharing our stories is how we stay alive.

And because you deserve to hear one that reminds you: you’re not alone.

Call It What You Want… But Was It Love? trauma bonding, overgiving, and earned love.

Why do we fall for people who can’t meet us halfway? Why does it hurt so much when they leave—even if they were never fully ours to begin with?

In this episode, I sit down with Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) Andie, to unpack the messy middle of love, attachment, fantasy bonds, and overgiving. We talk about trauma responses disguised as chemistry, the ache of being “almost chosen,” and why silence can trigger such a deep spiral. If you’ve ever found yourself waiting on a text, playing therapist in your own love life, or trying to earn love that should’ve been freely given… this one’s for you.

    We’ll explore:

    • Why “earned love” feels more powerful than “available love”
    • The truth about ghosting, fantasy bonding, and why we fall fast
    • How to tell the difference between intuition and anxious attachment
    • How to actually choose yourself—even when your nervous system still misses them

This one’s a warm hug and a reality check. A deep breath and a wake-up call. You’re not crazy. You’re just craving connection—and this episode is here to help you understand why.

15 lessons I learned since graduating high school at 15 (heartbreak, healing, and self discovery)

This is the episode I wish existed when I was 15—curled up in a quiet corner of study hall, trying to catch my breath, feeling older than the room I was in, and dreaming of a life no one else could see. I didn’t know what I was building back then—I just knew I couldn’t follow the timeline everyone else was on.

In this solo episode, I open the door to my realest truths: what it’s like to grow up too fast, to get sick before you’ve even figured yourself out, to feel like the world is moving forward while you’re stuck in a body that won’t cooperate. I talk about the heartbreaks no one sees, the softness I almost lost, and the moments that almost made me give up—but didn’t.

These are the 15 lessons I’ve learned since graduating high school at 15. From navigating chronic illness and invisible pain, to unlearning body shame, to surviving the ache of being misunderstood. From losing people I thought were forever, to finding healing in the most unexpected places—like voice memos, late-night writing, and this very mic.

We talk about what no one tells you: that healing doesn’t always look like yoga and green juice. That burnout doesn’t mean you’re broken. That being sensitive doesn’t make you fragile—it makes you awake. That memory lane might wear your favorite scent, but you’re not meant to live there. And that rewriting your dreams is not failure—it’s evolution.

Most of all, we talk about what it means to still believe in yourself after everything. To still choose softness when the world tried to harden you. To still show up for the girl you used to be—the one who never really fit in, but always knew she was meant for something more.

If you’ve ever felt behind, or too much, or like your story doesn’t fit into the box they gave you—this one is yours. Because maybe you didn’t graduate early, or get diagnosed young, or get told by someone you loved that you were too hard to love—but you’ve felt it. That ache to be understood. That fear you’ll be left behind. That whisper that says, “maybe I’m the problem.”

You’re not. You never were. And you’re not late to your own life. You are unfolding, becoming, blooming—right on time.

This episode is my heart cracked open. A letter to the girl I was—and to anyone who’s ever had to start over.

Warning: May cause emotional whiplash, full-body chills, spontaneous journaling, and the overwhelming urge to text your inner child: “We made it.”

    Let’s cry. Let’s reflect. Let’s rebuild—together.

    With love,

    Rylin Rossano

The Episode Your Younger Self Was Waiting For (ft. Coffee, Healing & Michelle )

A soft, soul-deep conversation on girlhood, post-grad identity, and learning how to love yourself in the moments you feel most lost.

This episode feels like sitting in your favorite coffee shop with the girl who just gets it. I’m joined by Michelle Sylvester —fellow iced coffee enthusiast, gentle soul, and someone who has walked the same messy, magical path of trying to be everything for everyone, and finally choosing to come home to herself.

We talked about the things our younger selves didn’t know how to name—the pressure to be perfect, the ache of not feeling like enough, the exhaustion of chasing a version of “success” that didn’t include softness. We unpacked what it means to feel like you’re falling apart even when it looks like you have it all together.

    ✨ Topics we cover:

    – the version of you who had to grow up too fast

    – navigating the weird, identity-shifting space after graduation

    – how hard it is to rest when you’ve only ever known hustle

    – the ache to be understood, not just seen

    – rewriting the story your inner critic keeps trying to narrate

    – iced coffee orders, body neutrality, and tiny rituals that bring you back to yourself

This isn’t just a podcast episode. It’s a mirror. A soft landing. A reminder that you don’t have to fix yourself to be worthy of love. You are allowed to unravel. You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to begin again.

And if no one’s told you lately—

💌 You’re doing better than you think.

💌 You are so deeply worth loving.

💌 You’re allowed to take up space in your own story.

Let this episode be a letter to your past self, and a love note to the version of you becoming.
