On December 16, 1935, 29 year-old actress Thelma Todd was found dead in the driver’s seat of her Lincoln. Her car was discovered in a garage owned by Jewel Carmen. Who happened to be the estranged wife of Thelma’s current boyfriend/business partner, director Roland West. Thelma rose to fame in comedies starring the Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton, and even Laurel & Hardy. She was in the prime of her career.  The coroner ruled she suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning. In October 1925, a young girl's body was discovered at the bottom of a mineshaft near Coxton, Kentucky. Even though the remains were practically unrecognizable, the authorities identified her as 14-year-old Mary Vickery, who had gone missing two months earlier. In March of 1926, Condy Dabney, a married father of two and former miner, was accused of her murder and quickly  indicted. Seems like an open and shut case right? Except, Mary Vickery was in fact, very much alive. During an annual show in a Nottinghamshire mining community in July 1980, hundreds of children began experiencing dizziness before they started collapsing. The official report attributing the cause to "mass hysteria". One officer described the situation as resembling a battlefield, littered with bodies. On July 7, 1954, 12-year-old Daniel Wood Jr. left his home with a fishing pole in hand after telling his mother he was off to the Androscoggin River with a group of friends.  Unfortunately, Daniel never made it back home. In Springfield, New Jersey, 1972, a dog returned from a wooded area carrying an object in its mouth. It seemed to be a "large bone" and they let out a scream when they realized it was a human arm! The rest of the body, was found fully clothed in a small clearing atop a steep hill,  lying face down, with an odd, almost ceremonial rock formation found around it. The deceased was 16-year-old Jeannette DePalma. She had been reported missing by her mother six weeks earlier. On January 6, 1979, at 6:35 a.m., Mr. Tan Kuen Chai  and his wife, Lee Mei Ying, operators of a mini school bus business, left their one-room flat located on the fifth floor. Their four children were left sleeping in their beds. Somehow without any witnesses, and without leaving a trace, someone brutally murdered the children. On November 21, 1987, Korrina Malinoski, disappeared from the Mount Holly Plantation in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Less than a year later, Malinoski's 11-year-old daughter, Annette Sagers, ALSO went missing from a bus stop, just outside the plantation. Cynthia Elizabeth James was a Canadian nurse who disappeared from Richmond, British Columbia, on May 25, 1989. She was found  two weeks later in the yard of an abandoned house, hogtied with a nylon stocking wrapped around her throat. An autopsy indicated that she had died of an overdose. On July 28, 2021, the Atlanta police department responded to a distressed 911 call. As the officers arrived at the entrance to Piedmont Park in downtown Atlanta, they would be unprepared for the gruesome scene that awaited them. In the mid-1960s, actor Bob Crane rose to fame when he was cast as the lead character, Colonel Robert Hogan, in the renowned sitcom Hogan's Heroes. After Hogan’s Heroes ended however, the actor's fame began to dwindle. And On June 29, 1978, Bob would end up missing a lunch meeting with one of his co-stars Victoria Ann Berry. Victoria, decided she would drive over and check on Bob. When Victoria arrived at the apartment however,  she found in the bedroom Crane's lifeless and shirtless body. On the afternoon of January 2, 1935, a man arrived at the President Hotel in downtown Kansas City and specifically requested an interior room on an upper floor. He gave the name of Roland T. Owen, and was given Room 1046 on the 10th floor. Owen would inform them that he would be having a “friend” come by at some point during his stay and asked if she could leave the door unlocked once she was finished cleaning his room. Keddie, California, a town that hosted a population of less than 100 people, would be devastated in the spring of 1981 when the brutal murders of three individuals and the abduction of a fourth would occur at the Keddie Resort’s Cabin 28. On April 12th, 1981, 14 year old Sheila Sharp, walked in the front door of the small cabin, and was met with the bound, bloodied bodies of her mother, her brother and her brother's friend, her only sister Tina, was missing. The violent murders and the abduction of Tina Sharp would set off an unfortunately confusing  investigation that is still ongoing.
