Happy International Dance Day! 🩰
Back in 1982, the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO, founded International Dance Day. The global celebration of dance takes place every year on April 29, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet.
To celebrate this wondrous occasion, our special guest at the State of the Arts podcast’s The Filipino Dancer Abroad (A Series) is the talented Marcelino Libao! A professional ballet dancer born and raised in Manila, he trained under the guidance of Raul Sauz and Sofia Elizalde at Steps Dance Studio. Currently based in Germany, he’s now steadily building a spectacular career both as a dancer and choreographer at the prestigious Hamburg Ballett company!
