Head to our Patreon for the full episode and you'll also hear about the evolution on and off the pitch under Arne Slot, Alexander Isak’s arrival, plus the thoughts on the season and Liverpool’s title rivals.

There’s chat about a couple of Monday results, some Ballon d’Or and whether Aliens is better than Alien. Also, this was recorded before the Tuesday night games, so we'll cover any big results on the next show!

Chaos or control? Take aways from the Premier League weekend and more

It was a weekend where two high profile Premier League games played out in very different ways.

Musa and Ryan begin with a quick round-up, including Liverpool extending their lead at the top, thanks to their 2-1 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby (03:04). It was chaos at Old Trafford on a rain-soaked Saturday evening (07:44), but Manchester United did enough to get a much needed win against Chelsea. It took them level on points with Manchester City, where control was the name of the game in the 1-1 draw away at Arsenal (15:28), which saw Pep Guardiola record the lowest possession percentage of his managerial career.

There’s also a round-up of the Bundesliga (25:23), La Liga and Atleti’s identity (30:28), Mourinho’s return, including an accidental mini ‘what if’ (36:08) and more!

Don't forget to get tickets for our London live show at the Southbank Centre, which are on sale here.

City win the Manchester derby, more questions for Amorim and a wild derby d’Italia

Ruben Amorim lost his first Manchester derby on the weekend, to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and there were more questions for the United manager, who has had an underwhelming start to the season.

Musa and Ryan chat about the game (04:04), plus whether Amorim is giving himself enough of a chance to get United into a position to implement his system properly, before a quick round-up of the rest of the Premier League, including another late win for Liverpool (24:48).

Next it’s onto the brilliant derby d’Italia, which saw Juventus win it late, 4-3 against Inter (32:09), plus St. Pauli’s best start to a Bundesliga season ever (40:21), while Bayern maintain their 100% record and, in Spain, Barcelona put six past Valencia, despite a late relocation for the game and Thomas Müller is having fun in Vancouver.

The WSL returns and, wait, was that an in-game interview?!

This weekend saw the returns of the Frauen Bundesliga and the WSL (04:50), so Musa and Ryan round-up some results from both, including Olivia Smith’s brilliant debut goal, Chelsea winning the season’s first blockbuster fixture and late drama in Union’s Bundesliga debut. Meanwhile, London City Lionesses head coach, Jocelyn Prêcheur, was interviewed in-game, adding to a trend of new media features rolled out across the Premier League and WSL this season. So, there’s a discussion about whether so much media access is needed or wanted in certain sports (11:52) and what effect is has on the viewing experience, as well as the players and coaches. Finally, there’s a quick shout for Spain (39:18), who are looking very good in World Cup qualifying.

Liverpool’s super Sunday, Ten Hag sacked and a huge Hamburg Derby

As men’s football heads into its first international break of the season, Musa and Ryan chat about Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield, thanks to an unbelievable Dominik Szoboszlai free-kick (04:57). They wrap up the rest of the Premier League, including wins for Brighton over Man City, Bournemouth's win at Spurs plus big wins for Palace and West Ham. It's then onto the Bundesliga, as Erik ten Tag was sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just three games in charge (29:56).
