Cyclone Biparjoy was a tropical cyclone that made landfall in India and Pakistan on June 15, 2023. The cyclone was named by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and means "disaster" in Bengali. Biparjoy formed in the Arabian Sea on June 11, 2023, and quickly intensified, reaching peak winds of 125 kilometers per hour (78 miles per hour) as a category 1 cyclone on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. The cyclone made landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat, India, on June 15, and weakened to a tropical depression by the next day. Biparjoy caused widespread damage in India and Pakistan, with winds uprooting trees, damaging buildings, and flooding low-lying areas. Two people were killed in India as a result of the cyclone. The IMD issued a red alert for Gujarat and Sindh provinces in Pakistan ahead of the cyclone's landfall. More than 180,000 people were evacuated from coastal areas in the two countries. The cyclone also disrupted transportation and power in the affected areas. The Indian Railways canceled more than 100 train services, and power outages were reported in several districts of Gujarat. The IMD said that Biparjoy was the longest-lived cyclone in the Arabian Sea since Kyarr in 2019. The cyclone's unusually long lifespan was attributed to warm sea surface temperatures in the Arabian Sea. The IMD has warned that more cyclones are likely to form in the Arabian Sea in the coming months. The monsoon season in India typically runs from June to September, and is a time when cyclones are more common.

Sam Altman says India's chances to build Al training models are 'hopeless' Altman responded to it and said, "The way this works is, we are going to tell you that it's completely hopeless to challenge us in training foundational models, and you shouldn't even try it. And it's your job to still try it anyway. And I believe both of those things. I think it is pretty hopeless regardless". Despite the response, Anandan has taken up challenge quite sportingly. He took to Twitter to respond to Altman's answer and tweeted, "Thank you @sama for the clear answer. As you said, "it is hopeless, but you will try anyway". 5000 years of Indian entrepreneurship has shown us that we should never underestimate the Indian entrepreneur. We do intend to try". CEO of Tech Mahindra, CP Gurnani has also reacted to this exchange and tweeted, "OpenAl founder Sam Altman said it's pretty hopeless for Indian companies to try and compete with them.
