Welcome to Speaker Notes, formerly known as Sonic Wandering! Sonic Wandering was run by Jordan Brown and Josh Wohlgemuth [now archived]. Jordan and Josh are both recent graduates of The University of Virginia (Class of 2020). After creating this project, Jordan found creating podcasts to be a special passion project of hers, and has since taken this journey as a solo endeavor. As a continued collaborator with The Black Power Station (TBPS), Jordan will be creating more podcasts about not only TBPS but also many other types of music. This new endeavor will from here on be known as “Speaker Notes.”

On this second episode of Speaker Notes, Jordan interviews Madhumati and Pranaya Spellman, two Hare Krishna devotees and Jordan’s family members. Within this interview we go more in depth about the history of the Hare Krishna movement and Krishna consciousness, and further analyze the ways in which Kirtan music enhances the spirituality of members of this community. The music used in this podcast is a live performance from the Festival of the Holy Name held in Alachua, Florida in 2020.
