We identify ourselves by the stories we tell others. Our Khmer tradition has been built on stories that are told from generation to generation. We live in a narrative world, yet we don't like to tell stories verbally. As the world of social media is full of videos, we have forgotten our roots in storytelling such as Smot or Chapey. There are still a lot of stories to be told of heroism, love, heartbreaks, perseverance, determination, and more. Somleng Rodwell is a platform to bring all those stories in the form of the podcast for the new generation to connect to their roots.

Episode 3 - Is it wrong for boys to wear earrings?

We sometimes judge people by what they wear on the outside, not by who they are. This often has happened to people who look different or our of place. If it's okay for girls to wear pants, then why is it so wrong for boys to wear earrings? It has been documented in our history that many Khmer Kings from the past had worn earrings as a sign of pride and status, and yet now we call it uncultured and unorthodox when boys wear earrings in the 21st century.

Episode 2 - Let's Talk About Sex
Yes, we are embarrassed to talk with our youth about Sex Education and Reproductive Health, but maybe it is time that we need to open up and have a conversation about what is right. When we teach our youth about the dangers of unprotected sex, we can avoid situations like what we have just witnessed recently; a newborn baby was thrown away in a pile of garbage. We can do better. We MUST do better. And it has to start with us starting to have an honest conversation using medical facts to our youth about Sex and Reproductive Health.

Episode 1 - For Jack and Jade

Jack and Jade were our beloved cats who passed away a few months apart, and we are deeply saddened by this great loss. They have left a huge hole in our hearts. This episode is dedicated to them.  They have taught us, especially me, about life and learning to live. Thank you for giving us and teaching us so much about love, compassion, and joy.
