Dr. Julie Bajic Smith (PhD) is an award winning Aged Care Psychology Consultant. After completing her doctorate focusing on the wellbeing of home care workers she continues to research, publish and support the frontline workforce through a range of educational programs. The aged care workforce is in crisis, and we mustn't normalise this. I've seen firsthand how vital it is to support these workers, providing them with the tools and training they need to thrive. I always say, “Support your workers, and you will be rewarded triple-fold - loyal employees, happier clients, and fewer complaints received.” So You Work in Aged Care is a new podcast launched in August 2024. After the Covid-19 pandemic, it is evident that the frontline workforce is facing additional challenges to support our elders. Tackling loneliness, isolation, low mood, managing declining clients and those with over-ambitious expectations can lead to stress, burnout and low staff morale. So You Work in Aged Care is a podcast for the workforce. Each episode will include information that is inspirational, provides you with insider knowledge and real experiences and most importantly, it will be described in easy to understand ways so that it’s not overwhelming or confusing. 'What's Trending' section also includes Q&A and latest industry data to keep you informed. Go to wisecare.com.au for more information and free resources to support you in your role.
