Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible | Week 1: Part 1 | Matthew 1–7 (KJV) with Gentle Music

Welcome to the first episode of the Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible series. Today, we begin our journey through the entire Bible with a gentle reading of Matthew chapters 1 to 7 from the King James Version, accompanied by soft, relaxing music.
In this opening section of Matthew’s Gospel, we hear the genealogy and birth of Jesus Christ, the visit of the wise men, the baptism of Jesus, the calling of the first disciples, and the Sermon on the Mount—including the beloved Beatitudes and the Lord’s teaching on prayer, fasting, love, and forgiveness.
Whether you join us to relax, fall asleep, or reflect deeply on Scripture, this episode invites you to rest in the timeless words of the Bible. Over the next year, Sleepy Scriptures will guide you through the entire Word of God, one peaceful reading at a time.
So settle in, take a deep breath, and allow these opening chapters of the Gospel of Matthew to bring you calm and spiritual renewal tonight.
God Bless.

Announcing The Sleepy Scriptures One Year Bible

Hello, this is Steve, your host at Sleepy Scriptures. If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll know that with the recent episodes, the entire King James Bible is now availablehere on Sleepy Scriptures. Over the past two and a half years, through more than 200 episodes, I’ve shared this journey with you—a true labor of love. My prayer is that these recordings will continue to be a source of rest, comfort, andinspiration for you, and for anyone who happens to discover this humble podcast.

With that milestone behind us, I’d like to introduce something new. Beginning October 6th, 2025, I’ll be repackaging the Sleepy Scriptures readings into a One Year Bible format. I know there are many Bible-in-a-year programs out there but none, as far as I know, are offered in the gentle, restful style of Sleepy Scriptures.

Here’s how it will work: each week, I’ll release three One Year Bible episodes, blending readings from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Psalms. Rather than following a straight line from Genesis to Revelation, this format will provide a balanced and refreshing mix of scripture every week.

If you’re not a paid subscriber, you may encounter advertisements during the episodes. I’d love for you to consider becoming a subscriber—not only will it improve your listening experience, but it also helps me keep this ministry going.

Above all, I thank God for you, my listeners. My hope is that Sleepy Scriptures will continue to serve His Kingdom and bring peace and encouragement to you in these challengingtimes.

God bless.

S4:E36 Sleepy Scriptures: The Gospel of Luke, Chapters 18–24 (KJV) with Relaxing Music

Welcome back to Sleepy Scriptures. In this episode, I read chapters 18 through 24 of the Gospel of Luke from the King James Bible.
These chapters bring us some of the most moving and powerful moments in Scripture. In Luke 18, Jesus reminds us, “With God all things are possible” (Luke 18:27). We hear the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector in Luke 19, and the words of comfort at the Last Supper: “This is my body which is given for you” (Luke 22:19).
As we move into Luke 23, we encounter the crucifixion and the tender promise of Christ to the thief on the cross: “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). Finally, in Luke 24, we rejoice in the resurrection as the angels declare: “He is not here, but is risen” (Luke 24:6).
Accompanied by gentle, relaxing music, these sacred words invite you to rest in God’s presence, release the weight of the day, and drift into peaceful sleep.
God Bless.

S4:E35 Peaceful Night: Zechariah & Malachi Bedtime Bible Readings (KJV)

Welcome back to Sleepy Scriptures. In this episode, I read the Old Testament books of Zechariah and Malachi from the King James Bible.
The prophet Zechariah delivers visions of hope, restoration, and the coming of the Messiah. He speaks God’s comforting words: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). We also hear the prophecy fulfilled in Christ: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion… behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation” (Zechariah 9:9).
The final book of the Old Testament, Malachi, closes with both warning and promise. God reminds His people: “For I am the Lord, I change not” (Malachi 3:6). And He points forward to redemption, declaring: “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings” (Malachi 4:2).
Accompanied by gentle, relaxing music, these prophetic words offer reassurance, peace, and a reminder of God’s unchanging love as you prepare for rest.

S4:E34 Luke 12–17: Restful King James Bible Readings with Gentle Music

Welcome back to Sleepy Scriptures. Today I read chapters 12 to 17 of the Gospel of Luke from the King James Bible.
In these chapters, Jesus reminds us not to worry, teaching: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). He shares the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son, declaring the joy of heaven when one sinner repents (Luke 15:7).
You’ll also hear the story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19–31) and the healing of the ten lepers, where Jesus proclaims to one grateful man, “Thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 17:19).
Accompanied by soothing background music, these timeless passages invite you to rest in God’s Word, quiet your heart, and find peace as you drift into restful sleep.
