Ida Petersson on authenticity in branding, building a community, mentorship, and more in this week’s conversation.
Industry titan Ida Petersson has been a driving force behind some of the world’s most respected luxury retailers, including Harvey Nichols, Net-A-Porter, and, most recently, Browns, where she served as buying director until December 2023. Now, she’s teamed up with her friend Ramya Giangola to launch Good Eggs, a global brand strategy and creative agency that supports both established and emerging designers.
In this conversation, Ida discusses the evolving landscape of fashion buying, highlighting the delicate balance between intuition and data-driven decisions. She reflects on the role of authenticity in branding, the critical influence of mentorship, and the often-overlooked impact of retail staff on a brand's success. The discussion also covers navigating trends, consumer expectations, and how leadership fosters growth and creativity within the industry. Ida shares personal stories from her career, offering lessons on supporting the next generation of designers.

Renata Kats on movement, the meaning of home, discovering humanity through art, and more in this week’s conversation.
Renata Kats is an independent photographer and artist based in Paris. Renata’s journey into the world of art began in Siberia, where she was immersed in the magic of film and photography at an early age, thanks to her grandfather, a photojournalist in the USSR, and her father, who owned a movie theater in her hometown. This early exposure sparked her passion, leading her to move to London as a teenager to further explore her craft. Now in Paris, Renata has made her mark by shooting for renowned brands like Nike, Coperni, Vaquera, Didu, and Crosby Studios. In 2023, she released her first book, "PAL-WOL," and her work has been showcased in gallery exhibitions across Seoul, London, and Paris.

Artist Miles Greenberg on the importance of beauty, training like an athlete, finding levity as an artist, and more on this week’s conversation.
Miles Greenberg is a New York-based performance artist and sculptor. His work consists of large-scale, sensorially immersive and site-specific environments revolving around the physical body in space. These installations are activated with often extreme durational performances that invoke the body as sculptural material. These performances are then captured in real-time before the audience to generate later video works and sculptures. Rigorous and ritualistic in its methodology, Greenberg’s universe relies on slowness and the decay of form to heighten the audience’s sensitivities. The work follows self-contained, nonlinear systems of logic that are best understood in relation to one another.
At age seventeen, Greenberg left formal education, launching himself into four years of independent research on movement and architecture. He has worked under the mentorship of Édouard Lock, Robert Wilson, and Marina Abramović.
He has exhibited and performed internationally at museums and galleries, including The Louvre (Paris), Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin), The New Museum (New York), Arsenal Contemporary (Toronto), Jeffrey Deitch Gallery (New York), and many others.
Please enjoy this week’s conversation with Miles Greenberg.

Photographer and humanitarian Giles Duley on purpose, discernment, being the guardian of someone's story, and more in this week's conversation.
Giles Duley is the CEO and Founder of Legacy of War Foundation, photographer, writer, chef and presenter, born in 1971 in London. His work focuses on the long-term humanitarian impact of conflict.
Starting his carer as a music and fashion photographer, Duley worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Oasis and Lenny Kravitz and for publications including GQ, Vogue, Sunday Times and Elle. In 2000 his image of Marilyn Manson was voted amongst the 100 greatest rock photographs of all time.
In 2004 Duley changed his focus to documentary work, partnering with well-respected charities such as HI (Humanity and Inclusion), EMERGENCY, Save the Children and UNHCR to highlight lesser-known stories deserving of public attention and action. Although documenting challenging, and at times, horrific situations, Giles captures the strength of those who fight adversity rather than succumb. His photographs draw the viewer to the subject, creating intimacy and empathy for lives differing from ours only in circumstance.
His work has taken him to Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, DR Congo, Angola, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Colombia, Vietnam and Nigeria among others.
In 2011, whilst working in Afghanistan, Duley was severely injured by an IED. As a result of his injuries he is a triple-amputee. In 2012 he returned to Afghanistan to continue his work as a photographer.
In 2015 he started his Legacy of War project, which looks to explore common themes of conflict. A core part of the project is collaborations with other artists and writers to reach a wider audience. These collaborations have included the musicians Massive Attack and PJ Harvey.
In 2019 he was awarded the Amnesty Media Award for Photojournalism.

Andy Picci on disruption, digital art, embracing boredom, and more in this week’s conversation.
Andy Picci is a conceptual artist who’s on the forefront of the digital art movement. His work explores the construction of identity, social media, and the quest for self-identity in our hyper digital age. He offers a dreamy and contemplative glance over deeper societal explorations that steers his artistic process. Through philosophers like Guy Debord and Jean Baudrillard, Andy developed a fascination with the illusion of the self and the meaning of identity construction. He explores these themes through digital mediums, surrealistic atmospheres, interactive artworks and mixed media. Through his creations, Andy presents the world through a different perspective rather than the one dictated by society. Andy’s uses virtuality as a way to (re)connect with oneself.
Andy’s work was has been exhibited in international galleries and art institutions such as Museum Der Bildenden Künste in Leipzig, Magasins Généraux in Paris, König Galerie in Berlin, CADAF (Crypto & Digital Art Fair), and OÖ Art in Linz as well as some of the most iconic screens including Times Square in New York, Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, K-Pop Square in Seoul and Piccadilly Lights in London. Andy is also a mentor to Mixed Media Art students at Instituto Marangoni Firenze in Florence.
Enjoy our wonderful conversation with Andy Picci.

Edward Cuming on lightness, experimenting with color, selling his collection from a trash bag, and more in this week’s conversation.
Edward Cuming is the Australian-born, Madrid-based designer leading his namesake label, Edward Cuming.
A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s MA in Fashion, Cuming launched the brand in 2019 with a proposition for atypical menswear that eschews tradition – of tailoring and thought alike – in favour of a practice grounded in observation and an exploration of the sensorial.
Underpinning Cuming’s rigorous experimentation with fabrication, a languid silhouette and bold use of color is a desire to render in physical form the ephemeral: Those fleeting moments or sensations that can first read as inconsequential, but when interrogated further reveal moments of quiet transcendence amid the banal.
Creating tender, binary-challenging clothing, Edward Cuming is at the vanguard of a free-flowing, artful approach to fashion.

Kartik Kuma of Karu Research on craftsmanship, bootstrapping his brand, embracing his Indianness, and more in this week’s conversation.
Karik Kumra is the designer of Karu Research. Karu means 'artisan' when translated from Sanskrit. At Karu Research, the preservation of Indian handicrafts is brought to the forefront through intimate collaboration with master craftspeople all around the country to create modern menswear. Karu Research is an Indian luxury brand that references India's cultural heritage. Each piece of clothing has some element of the hand in it. After launching Karu Research in 2021, the brand has built relationships with handloom weavers from Andhra Pradesh and Bengal, hand embroiderers from Delhi and Bengal, and Natural Dyers from Karnataka and Odisha. Each artisan we work with comes from a lineage of craftspeople who have helped preserve their work, ensuring a high degree of quality and expertise in each garment. Karu Research was founded by Kartik Kumra in his sophomore year of university when he traveled to different artisanal clusters around India to better understand the processes and the value that artisans place on their craft.
Kartik Kumar was featured in the Forbes India “30 under 30” list, and Karu Research was nominated for the 2023 LVMH Prize.
