The Beyond 1% Podcast is part of Sir Robert McAlpine’s 1% campaign, named because around only 1% of people working on the tools in construction are women. This podcast began as a series highlighting the real experiences of women in construction. The podcast has evolved, and will feature a range of stories and themes that are relevant to the construction industry today. We are committed to having at least 50% of the guests as women as we explore new topics and stories throughout the year. Our goal is to empower and educate with real conversations with a range of people in the industry.

Welcome back to the Sir Robert McAlpine Beyond 1% Podcast.

In this two part episode, we continue our conversation with three women in the early stages of their careers, working on construction sites across the U.K.

Beth and Emma are Graduate Engineers at Sir Robert McAlpine, based in London and Birmingham respectively. Grace is an Apprentice at HE Simm, based in Manchester.

In this part two episode, we discuss gender stereotypes, learning from failures, their future goals and aspirations, and their shared advice for those wishing to pursue a career in construction.
