Kristen and Sammy discuss the Tarot cards of The Emperor and Temperance, continuing their transformative and exploratory journey through the major arcana. This week's episode is focused around boundaries, unconscious written laws, having a guardian angel, and centering the swinging pendulum. The girls bring in their first impressions, external resources, personal experiences, and dreams that helped them hold a complex and deep view of these two cards.
Discussing the next pair of cards in the Tarot turned into a strange weather pattern of emotions for the two hosts Sammy and Kristen. The Empress and Death takes them on a tour through abundant, sunny, embodied life and the cold, harsh winter of death. This episode speaks for itself; the task of risking the safety of performing to really live the dirty, grounded, imperfect life before we die.

Sammy and Kristen discuss the number 2 and 12 Tarot cards, The High Priestess and The Hanged Man. They discuss each card separately and how they relate together as a pair. The receptive nature of these cards are helpful in understanding what this podcast tries to cultivate in the realm of dreams and self-reflection of our personality types.
Kristen and Sammy continue on their Tarot journey with cards of The Magician and Justice. They mainly explore the dichotomies of the law of nature and the law of man; where are they separate? Where do they intertwine? What parts of our personality get confused or misled with this process and how do the cards call us back to it? Sammy and Kristen provide dreams, experiences, and lore to play with these topics and further understand how personality can strengthen through the oracles.

Over the past two weeks, Sammy and Kristen have gathered thoughts, impressions, dreams, and stories on the two major arcana cards of the tarot; The Fool and The World. The strange mystery of endings and beginnings started to work on the hosts in a way that surprised them, puzzled them, and made them laugh. Both of these cards have a magic that feels outside of our personality types, which is quite rewarding even if it's accessed for only a brief moment in time. Using the imagery of the famous Rider/Waite deck, Sammy and Kristen start to dream about these characters and the world they exist in.

Kristen and Sammy begin a discussion on the Tarot, a famous and mysterious oracle that has struck a chord within many individuals and cultures across the world. Oracles have been referenced many times throughout this podcast, but the hosts set an intention to make these cards the focus of the next several months. Today's episode is a general history of the cards, reflections on personal relationships and experiences, and shared curiosity around the magic present within the images. The hosts plan on letting the cards 'work' on their psyches, allowing a new process of channeling the ancient images of Tarot with the ancient symbol of the Enneagram to merge and comment on our human experience.

Continuing on the theories from the previous episodes of the Transcendent Function and the Collective, Sammy and Kristen share what happened when they combined the two in their own psychic and dream experiences. This episode gets at the heart of the ‘I AM’, religious connections, being a part of yourself, being a part of the world, and the masks we all wear that inform us of what kind of God we are encountering daily.

Sammy and Kristen have a casual discussion about what the ‘collective’ and symbols from the collective could mean in dreams. They start to ponder what it means to be an individual within the collective, being impacted by events in the outer world and making choices in life. This discussion brings up personal dreams to reflect on and start the hosts on their journey in understanding how personality and the collective intermingle.

Kristen is joined by Enneagram teacher and author John Luckovich to talk about his upcoming retreat in New York City called ‘Experiencing Essence’. The two discuss what essence is, how to cultivate it, and the many ways we are already relating (or lacking relation) to this substance within us.
Essence is the seed of consciousness at the core of our being. When we make efforts to be present, it is Essence that either shows up—or remains obscured. While everyone's Essence is unique, it expresses itself through nine fundamental qualities that shape the distinct character of each Enneagram type: Power, Harmony, Integrity, Love, Value, Depth, Insight, Truth, and Freedom. True growth requires direct connection with these qualities. Where the ego goes wrong is that we try to find Essence through the Instinctual Drives, confusing Being and Function. We will explore what it means to “live in two worlds”." - John Luckovich

Kristen and Sammy discuss Carl Jung’s piece on ‘The Transcendent Function’. They read a few excerpts and describe how they see personality type impacting this method, but also how accessing this space allows the ‘machine’ of type to be more regulated by its compensatory counterpart; the unconscious. Letting this theory be a part of the conversation with Enneagram type can give more flavor or color to our individual struggles, rather than just working with type as a description of qualities and behaviors.
Today, Sammy and Kristen discuss the appearance of animals in dreams and how they could be the messengers of our instinctual natures. The girls mainly focus on the objectivity an animal’s nature can provide to our instincts, rather than getting stuck in the neurosis of the subjective personality’s relationship to instinct. The many facets of self-preservation are discussed, as well as the different centers of intelligence in the Enneagram. Some personal dream examples are used to articulate the potential pivots of our autonomy and choices in life when we receive the message of a dream animal. The conversation also goes into the direction of imaginary worlds, oracles, and feminine initiation.

To continue the idea of ‘Type Ensouled’, Sammy and Kristen reflect on their own dreams and how they’ve correlated with their personality and life experiences. We use the power of stories and myth to amplify the purpose of our personal enneagram types. To be able to ‘catch the thread’ of our human and soul path became a fun and interesting attempt to play with the creative energies that are present.
“Storytelling is at the heart of life... In finding our own story, we assemble all the parts of ourselves. Whatever kind of mess we have made of it, we can somehow see the totality of who we are and recognize how our blunderings are related. We can own what we did and value who we are, not because of the outcome but because of the soul story that propelled us.” - Marion Woodman
Today we focus on the “soul purpose” or “soul perspective” of having an Enneagram type and instinct stacking. We talk about systems like the Akashic records and astrological natal charts and how it mirrors our personal type structure. All aspects of personality like our dominant functions and blindspots are looked at as a sort of contraction and expansion of the human experience. The tension of personality and soul are explored in archetypal and personal ways as we question our purpose, our suffering, and our creative expression as human beings.

The three dream girls are back for a new ‘season’, ready to explore the realms of the personality, the unconscious, and other strange things we experience as humans. Kaisa brings in her recent experiences with her life and dreams while on a break from the podcast, and the girls reflect on what they’ve enjoyed about the past ‘seasons’. They begin to dream up new ideas going forward with the pod, including other worlds, spiritual traditions, and forms of creative expression. Each host offers two of their favorite topics to start diving into in the new year, spiraling into many different thoughts and ideas that feel energizing and activating.
Kristen and Sammy discuss the results of their head center dream incubations, asking the question "What am I using to conceal my own personal void?” They discuss the enneagram and instincts as well as Jung’s cognitive functions to understand where their fears are originating and revealing themselves through the symbols of the dreams.

After a brief pause on recording and releasing episodes, Sammy and Kristen are back in the new year with a refreshing idea on the head center to help them dive back into the theoretical podcast game. Kristen talks about an experience she had that allowed her to have a personal resonance with the head center and the conversation inspires the hosts to discuss similar concepts or realizations on what head types or our own head centers are trying to avoid while simultaneously creating.
Today’s discussion is on the possible symbols relating to the head center in dreams. We go through themes like the physical head, swords, medication, air, birds, video games, and more. Each idea is met with references to external resources, personal experiences, dreams, or examples to highlight where these symbols live in the head center. These dream symbols are not to be taken literally or be fully attributed to ‘the head center’; this is a way for us to be thinking creatively about our enneagram type and dreams.
To continue the topic of the head center, we discuss how metaphor can be a way to ‘open’ us up to different narratives or perspectives. When bringing in the aspect of ‘play’ to dreams, symbols can feel more autonomous and alive, giving us a chance to be impacted and moved by them. Kristen and Sammy talk about their own experiences ‘playing’ and being fascinated by metaphor, tying in previous topics from the head center. Kristen also talks about a recent experience with a shift from looking at a dream in a flat way as opposed to a creative and metaphorical way.

This week we discuss Rudolf Otto’s piece ‘The Idea of the Holy’. We use this written work as a way to talk about the limits of the head center, what could exist outside of those limits, and our human experience of glimpsing beyond those limits. We talk about personal examples of spiritual experiences or ego-awakenings to the rigid structure we keep ourselves under. Sometimes we feel fear, sometimes bliss, sometimes a mix of the two when a mental structure of reality falls and some unknown version of ‘truth’ reveals itself. The process can be painful but rewarding.
Kristen & Sammy are back to tinker with the ideas of the head center. They talk about what constitutes a conscious or unconscious choice and how the ego might be ‘getting in the way’ of its connection to the head center, animal nature, and divinity. They bring in different ‘maps’ such as astrology, tarot, and philosophy to understand the depths of these topics like fate and free will.
