Are you a busy single mom struggling with overwhelm, direction, and exhaustion?
Does it seem like you are always short on time, money, and meaningful friendships?
Do you want to be the mom your kids deserve but find yourself distracted or yelling and then regretting it later?
Do you want to forgive and start living the life God has planned for you but don’t know how to let go?
Are you tired of feeling judged and utterly alone in your parenting?
Are you secretly afraid your ex might be right about you after all?
Do you wish someone would hold your hand and give you direction when doubts and insecurities pile up?
In this podcast you will find simple mindset solutions to free you from fear, negative self-talk, and overwhelm. My mission is to empower you with simple things you can do in the chaos of single parenting to find peace and reignite joy through building relationships, vital routines, and self-care.
If you are ready to stop chasing advice from those who mean well but who don’t understand your situation and say yes to changing your mindset and your family’s trajectory, you are in the right place!
Hey there my Beloved Single Mama! I’m Kerri. I’m a single mom of five boys, mindset enthusiast, and awe-filled lover of our Lord and all His creation.
On Mother’s Day 2009, my husband of 14 years suddenly announced he was leaving for someone he’d reconnected with on social media.
He moved out one week later.
I was a stay-at-home mom, newly appointed part time youth minister, and PTSO volunteer.
I was also five months pregnant with our fifth little boy.
I was alone, overwhelmed, confused, terrified, traumatized, devastated, hurt beyond imagining…
I understood then what “only the groans of the Holy Spirit will suffice,” means.
I realized that no one was coming to save us and that if my boys and I were to survive, we needed a solid plan, grateful hearts, and a whole lot of faith!
I went back to school and got my math certification using a pathway that had never been done and that I’d been told could not be done. I got life coaching certification and Dave Ramsey Master Coach certification. I got us out of debt and on the road to freedom from chains that can’t be measured in dollar signs!
Most of all, I dug into our Lord, found my purpose, and reignited my love of adventure!
And I did it all while raising those five wonderful, messy, fun-loving, much-loved, drive me crazy, couldn’t-imagine-life-without-them boys by myself!
If you’re ready to become the mom God is creating you to be…to dig into hope that doesn’t come from a half-eaten bar of chocolate found between the couch cushions, another glass of wine, or endlessly scrolling through online dating sites…if you’re ready to implement simple mindset techniques for noticeable results…if you’re ready to be confident, clear, and courageous in your parenting, finances, relationships, and, most of all, in your view of yourself and God’s work in you – then my Beloved Mama, this podcast is for you!
Oh…and if you’re wondering about that fifth little boy? He’s a constant reminder that God’s plans are always better than our own!

Jesus I Trust in You – Let’s DO this!!!
Have you ever felt pulled in many different directions? Your faith tells you one thing, but the world tells you something different?
It can be sooooo easy to want to give in to the world. We can easily justify our actions and beliefs and fall for temporary happiness or a life of ease over the difficulties God calls us to walk through.
But that temporary happiness is just that - temporary!
God cares about your life here on earth today, but He cares far more about what happens after you leave this world and enter eternity in the next!
The Mass readings surrounding Halloween, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day compel us to remember our death, or as the Latin says, "Memento Mori."
They remind us that we live for so much more than what we see here today.
This reminder reassures us that God never rejects us, but it also calls us to a challenge of living like Him and for Him!
It calls us to live as Jesus did.
It tells us to uncompromisingly fulfill the will of the Father over our own will or what the world tells us.
The question is, will you rise to the Lord's challenge?
God Bless...

What happens when you want to keep Halloween faith-focused — but your ex, your kids, or your culture wants to go all-in on darkness, costumes, and horror?
In this episode, I share practical, faith-based ways to handle Halloween disagreements with your ex peacefully and guide kids who love Halloween without crushing their spirit.
We will discuss boundaries rooted in love, not fear, discernment using Scripture and the Catechism, and how to be Catholic — and joyful — when culture pulls the other way.
If you are interested in coaching with me to learn how to best lead your family with faith and grace, even when values clash, I'd love to hear from you! Douay-Rheims Bible Version of Matthew 27: 50-53
"And Jesus again crying with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And behold the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top even to the bottom, and the earth quaked, and the rocks were rent. And the graves were opened: and many bodies of the saints that had slept arose, And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, came into the holy city, and appeared to many."

Do you ever feel like you’re falling behind? Do you feel like that mom has it all together, that couple has real love, or that coworker’s life just seems easier?
In this week’s Gospel reflection from Luke 18:9-14, I put on my Catholic Life Coaching hat and explore what the Pharisee and the tax collector can teach us about comparison, pride, and the freedom of humility.
Learn how God, the greatest coach, calls you to stop looking sideways and start looking higher — to close the gaps not between you and others, but between you and Him.
I hope this episode of Single Mom Smiling encourages you to embrace your fumbling, faithful growth and find strength in humble persistence and God's love which reaches across the chasm to close the only gap that matters.

Have you stood in court and wondered where the justice is? Have you prayed for God to intervene only to hear crickets?
If you answered yes, you are not the only one!
In today's episode, Catholic life coach I reflect on Luke 18:1–8, the parable of the Persistent Widow, to help women find peace and purpose amid injustice.
From unfair court rulings to the silence of unanswered prayers, this episode reminds you that God’s justice is not like man’s — His timing is purposeful and His mercy personal.

Yesterday should have been Charlie Kirk's 32nd birthday.
For many of us, myself included, it is hard to believe he's gone. I cannot imagine how Erika Kirk feels!
Many of us are left asking God why and how he could take a good man like Charlie so soon.
Many single moms have asked similar questions about their own husbands or significant others, whether they are absent through death or betrayal.
But watching Erika, I was reminded of the bloodiest, most awful book I had ever ended up loving: Gates of Fire.
Listen to today's episode and learn how the ancient Spartan warriors were chosen for battle and how I see Charlie and Erika Kirk in God's decision making process.
SPOLIER ALERT: I give away the end of the Gates of Fire, so if you want to read it, download this episode, read quickly, and then listen.
I will tell you that what I believe God sees in Erika, He also sees in you!

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "This is so unfair?" or maybe you've questioned whether you will ever get justice.
Trust me, you're not the only one!
In this week’s Gospel you will be invited into the story of the ten lepers healed by Jesus—and the one who returned in gratitude, but more than a miracle, this story opens the door to a larger conversation about the deep unfairness of life and healing that doesn't come when or how you expect it to.
I'm not giving you easy answers here, but I do want to give you hope through the life of Saint Damien of Molokai, the one leper who received permanent healing, and, most importantly, a return to gratitude for the Lord.
Be the one.The one who comes back. The one who gives thanks. The one who sees God, even in the hard places.
God Bless...

Do you ever feel like your To-Do list is never ending? Does it seem like as soon as you cross one thing off your list, ten more await?
The servant in Sunday's Gospel reading can probably relate, but Jesus has some interesting insight!
If you're a busy mom, this reflection is for you.
Discover how the sometimes stressful, often unnoticed tasks of motherhood — late-night laundry, wiping tears, waving good-bye — are sacred acts that grow your faith and connect you to Christ’s call to humble service.
✝️ This week’s Gospel reminds us: Faith isn’t shown in grand gestures, but in small, consistent, loving acts — just like yours.
🕊️ Listen for Scripture reflection, encouragement, and reframing how to embrace your daily duties as spiritual growth.
🙏 Let's grow that mustard seed faith — one task at a time.

🔔Single Mom Smiling's title will be changing as I address the spiritual warfare battle being waged on Marriage and family. Follow to keep up with the changes and, as always, Armor Up!!!
I started podcasting about 15 months ago and hadn't missed an episode until everything seemed to go wrong at once.
What's more, that everything started happening right after I finished a course on how to market Armor Up, my new spiritual warfare program for women.
I'd planned to launch Armor Up in January, but with Charlie Kirk's assassination and the escalation of palpable evil, I decided to move the launch up to October.
Could the mess that caused me to miss publishing last week have been spiritual warfare or was it just coincidence? I may not know for sure, but I do know I don't believe in coincidence!
When life threw me obstacles, I was left with two choices - quit or double down and start again!
In today's episode, I share what happened to me and five steps you can depend on to overcome whatever life throws at you!
And if you are interested in joining Armor Up, the spiritual warfare program to get women in shape, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually while having fun with like-minded women, let me know at Kerri@SingleMomSmiling.com! I'd love to have you join our first cohort!

Does it seem like everyone else is getting ahead and you're stuck begging for scraps?
Maybe you're comparing what others show on social media, coveting the life your ex seems to lead, or are simply stuck looking back to what went wrong and where you thought you "should" be by now.
The story of Lazarus and the rich man remind us to live for more than what we see here today and to never form a bond with someone who wants to pull us into his torment.

Sometime life’s burdens seem too difficult to bear, but through our crosses we discover who we can be. In fact, being a Christian means bearing the burden of carrying Christ joyfully to the world.
Charlie Kirk knew this, but now he is gone. He was targeted because he spoke truth when so many refused to carry their share of the burden.
It is time for us to step up and find joy in our crosses, especially the one Cross that leads to freedom, the Cross of Christ.

Have you ever snapped at your kids only to regret it later?
Or maybe you let your ex pull you into an emotional argument you know you can't win?
Or maybe an neighbor, coworker, or even friend did something that riled you up or left you in frustrated tears?
Of all God's creatures, women were uniquely gifted with intense emotions, but that cannot be an excuse to let emotions rule our day.
When emotions enslave us or cause those we care about to tiptoe around us, they cease to be a gift and become a burden and often an embarrassment.
Fortunately, God invites you to grow in virtue by practicing practical strategies.
In today's episode you will learn three ways to honor your emotions while still letting reason rule.
If you want more tips on how to honor who God created you to be in the life you have now, sign up for my weekly newsletter below or email me at Kerri@SingleMomSmiling.com for coaching.

Shock struck as the news of innocent children gunned down while celebrating their first back-to-school Mass of the 2025-26 school year spread.
Anger.
Shock.
Rumors.
What we know as Catholics is that evil is real, and sometimes it rears its ugly head in horrifying ways.
In this case, evil was visible and loud, but much sneakier, quieter evil led up to the shooter's actions. Many Catholics want to believe they would be heroes in big tragedies but shy away from confronting sneaky, quiet evil.
God does not give us a spirit of fear though!
He gives us faith in the fire and strength of martyrs.
God gives you the power to face many spiritual battles on your own.
At the end of today's episode, I will ask you to pray two powerful prayers - one for the two souls lost so young and one for you to pray a hedge of protection around your own family, home, schools, Churches, and yourself.

Making and keeping friends as a single mom can be HARD!
Single moms are often exhausted and overwhelmed.
They often question their self worth and ability to contribute value to conversations when their thinking is foggy from so many things they need to keep track of.
Many single moms, and women in general, have expectations about what kind of friends they "should" have or what kind of friend they "should" be.
Instead, Jesus tells you to go - invite the poor, the lame, the blind, and the crippled.
Whether you are the one doing the inviting or you feel like you are now part of the poor, lame, blind, and crippled of today's world and wonder why anyone would want to associate with you, take a risk!
Reach out to a potential friend today and start building that connection patiently over time.
As a coach, I help women silence fear and doubt that keep them from making connections and building lasting friendships so they can learn to laugh freely with a trusted friend again.
If finding in person friends is something your heart is longing for, contact me at Kerri@SingleMomSmiling.com or use the links below. I would love to help you build those genuine friendships! :)

The pursuit of happiness helped build America.
Happiness is what many of us try to pursue today too.
But, we seldom understand what happiness meant when the Founders added it to the Declaration of Independence.
We understand the happiness we pursue today even less.
In both cases, the happiness we pursue is actually a joy that is not dependent on external forces or time limitations.
It is a joy that is resilient and everlasting and built on the Love of God.
In today's episode, learn the difference between happiness and joy and how you can grow in joy in any circumstances.

What battles do you face as a single mom?
Do you fight your ex, the court system, the schools or teacher unions, or maybe even your own kids?
It can be tempting to fight what is right in front of us, but Jesus tells us to focus on Him instead.
If we want to get to Heaven, we need to recognize we are in a spiritual war for our souls and not all souls who cry "Lord Lord" will go to Heaven.
There is still hope though!
Your and your children's can still get to Heaven!

Have you gone through a major life change and been left asking, "What do I do now?"
You're not alone!
When life throws us curveballs, whether it's through sudden marital abandonment or a long dreaded empty nest, you may struggle with your sense of purpose.
Many people do.
In today's episode, women's life coach Kerri Bishop shows why your true purpose has not changed at all even though how you live it out has changed drastically.
Then she gives you three steps to learn how to live out your same purpose in vastly different circumstances.
If you would like help adapting to vastly different circumstances, recovering from trauma, or learning to live out your purpose, I would love to work with you! Contact me here or send me an email at Kerri@SingleMomSmiling.com.
