Mini-Episode: The Unsolved Love Hotel Murder Case Incident!
We’re finally letting you know why we took a break from the podcast—we made a movie! (To be fair, if you follow our socials, that’s old news.) In this mini-episode, we discuss the production of our found footage mockumentary: THE UNSOLVED LOVE HOTEL MURDER CASE INCIDENT. A film starring Guy and Dave, shot in Japan, in an abandoned love hotel! It was a wild fast-paced shoot that genuinely left us terrified. We also discuss the future of Show Me Something Wrong!

50. Door (1988) / Sabaku (2000)
It’s our 50th episode, and, to celebrate this milestone, we’re discussing the two movies that inspired this podcast: DOOR and SABAKU! When we first started this podcast, Banmei Takahashi’s DOOR was a brutally underseen, almost forgotten film. Now, thanks to Third Window Films, it has had a second life! Guy unpacks the story of its production company and his own introduction to the film. We then take a hard violent turn with SABAKU, a vicious queer pinku from the early 2000s. This film has always been shrouded in mystery. Dave digs deep into secrets, focusing on its oddly named director, ”Casino”, and its connection to podcast favourite, Hisaysu Sato.

49. Talk to Me, Dicky! (1992)
Dave shows Guy TALK TO ME, DICKY! from 1992, written and directed by its star Alfred Cheung, a very familiar face to those who enjoy 90s Hong Kong cinema. This film has one of the most jaw-dropping narratives of anything we’ve covered. Just look at this plot synopsis: ”A policeman learns to talk to his penis (which can talk to other men’s penises) and his penis helps him investigate a rape case.” And yet, despite the wild levels of silliness, we somehow go to some very dark places in this episode, from Hong Kong-Mainland relations to post-Tiananmen Square trauma.

48. Issei Sagawa's I Want To Eat (1994)
Guy shows Dave I WANT TO EAT from 1994, written by and starring Issei Sagawa, the Kobe Cannibal. This movie is among the bleakest and grossest things we’ve ever covered. Guy digs deep into the horrible history of Sagawa from his murder and cannibalism of Renée Hartevelt in Paris to his starring role in an AV film, uncovering amazing and unsettling facts along the way. The film itself is a bizarre nightmarish amalgamation of documentary footage, pornographic scenes, and strange gory reenactments. This is about as wrong as it gets...

47. Big Money Rustlas (2010)
Dave shows Guy BIG MONEY RUSTLAS and nearly ends their friendship. This is a Western from 2010 starring Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of the Insane Clown Posse. It is a carnival of bad jokes, clown makeup, Jason Mewes pissing his pants, and horse-punching. Featuring some truly baffling cameos from Vanilla Ice to Tom Sizemore to Screech from SAVED BY THE BELL. Dave shares his personal history as an teenage juggalo, and Guy comes close to a full mental breakdown. Whoop whoop?

46. Mind Fuck (1990)
Guy shows Dave MIND FUCK from 1990 (maybe), directed by Mah Wu Tu (maybe), from China (maybe). This period piece porn film is an absolute mystery. Its existence is totally baffling, and Guy digs deeper than ever to attempt to uncover the truth. Black magic battles, S&M whippings, possessed corpses, the longest shower in history, a buck-toothed hunchback, and a farting ninja—regardless of this film’s confusing origins, it is a very fun watch!

Mini-Episode: The Xuxa Doll Urban Legend
Remember our episode about SUPER XUXA CONTRA BAIXO ASTRAL? The Brazilian movie starring Queen of the Little Ones, Xuxa, and a whole lot of puppets? Well, Guy has uncovered a very upsetting urban legend about a piece of Xuxa paraphernalia and child murder! Come join us for this spooky mini!

45. The Black Cat (1989)
Dave shows Guy THE BLACK CAT from 1989, not to be confused with the million other films with the same title. This is the one directed by Luigi Cozzi, the Italian b-movie master and charismatic clerk of Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso Store! This film is a sort-of-kind-of meta sequel to Argento’s SUSPIRIA and goes to some extremely strange spacey places. Cue vomit, haunted fridges, incongruous rock songs, and random cutaways to black cats!

44. Hawk Jones (1986)
Guy shows Dave HAWK JONES from 1986. The tagline for this sums it up perfectly: The movie with the kids in it! Yep, HAWK JONES is a buddy-cop crime caper with a cast made up entirely of tiny kids. Despite being aimed at a young audience, the kids spout sexist quips, smoke cigars, and blast each other to death with guns and grenades. HAWK JONES also features the greatest villain of straight-to-video cinema: THE DESTROYER! This is a fun one!

43. End of the Wicked (1999)
Dave shows Guy END OF THE WICKED, a Nigerian film from 1999 made by Helen Ukpabio and the Liberty Gospel Church. This is definitely the darkest thing we’ve ever talked about as Dave digs deep into its disturbing backstory of Christian propaganda and child witch accusations. But not to worry, there’s plenty of goofy video effects, vomit-spattered witch make-up, humans turning into guinea pigs, cross-eyed electrocutions, and dog ghosts floating out of dead bodies to keep everyone happy. All that and blood-deprived Beelzebub at the centre of the proceedings. Bring on the trauma!

42. Werewolf (1987)
Guy shows Dave WEREWOLF from 1987, not to be confused with the many other films with the same title released around the same time. This one is from Thailand and directed by Sommai Khamsorn. Even if you haven’t seen the film, you may have seen a clip from it titled ”Greatest Werewolf Transformation Scene Ever”. There is more to WEREWOLF than just that scene though. It also features crotch-thrusting zombies, cinema’s worst wig, and a cackling witch with a massive chin. This film is as cooked as it gets.

Mini-Episode: Ryuji Yamamoto's Izakaya (Tokyo Trip 3)
Warning: This is an especially gross episode. Our third and final mini episode about our recent trip to Tokyo! In this episode, we discuss our visit to Ryuji Yamamoto's izakaya. Yamamoto is an absolute legend of the AV and pinku world and has worked with everyone from Hisayasu Sato to Akio Jissoji. And, most importantly for us, Yamamoto featured in previous Show Me Something Wrong episode, DOG AND AUNT! Yamamoto was both fun and terrifying to speak to. Also featured in this episode: a long tangent about free gyoza and a discussion of our nightcap with Shozin Fukui.  Follow Show Me Something Wrong on Instagram and Twitter. 41. Ogroff (1983)
Dave shows Guy OGROFF aka MAD MUTILATOR from 1983, a French Super 8 slasher. Directed by Norbert Moutier (often credited as N. G. Mount), this film is an insane masterpiece. Every frame is utterly mad with chainsaw fights, incongruous zombies, kid murder, cars being battered to bits, and axes being used in ways they shouldn’t. And it’s all set to a relentless score that sounds like it was recorded in a lunatic’s basement. Dave digs deep into Moutier’s fascinating backstory, discussing his work outside of OGROFF.

Mini-Episode: Drinking with Hisayasu Sato (Tokyo Trip 2)
The second of three mini episodes about our recent trip to Tokyo! This was recorded after we went out for drinks with Hisayasu Sato and Kôichi Imaizumi. Like minutes after. So, at this point we’re like ten beers in and recording the middle of a vomit-strewn Shinjuku street. We share some of the fun stories we heard from Sato and once again discuss our love of his first film DISTORTED SENSE OF TOUCH. Enjoy!

40. Bloody Buns (2002)
Guy shows Dave BLOODY BUNS, a Hong Kong CAT III from 2002. It’s a film about a man who murders a family, grinds them up, and turns them into human pork buns. Sound familiar? Yep, BLOODY BUNS is an almost scene-for-scene remake of Herman Yau’s 1993 masterpiece THE UNTOLD STORY. Only crappy. So, so crappy. Join us as we lose our minds watching this horrendous film and discuss our love for the brilliant original that it rips off so poorly!

Mini-Episode: Hisayasu Sato Screening in Shinjuku (Tokyo Trip 1)
The first of three mini episodes about our recent trip to Tokyo! This episode was recorded on location in Shinjuku. We discuss the screening of two Hisayasu Sato films: his new film, DEAR KAITA ABLAZE (2023), and his first film, DISTORTED SENSE OF TOUCH (1985). DISTORTED OF SENSE OF TOUCH was a particularly exciting watch as it so rarely shown. After the screening, we were able to chat with Sato and hear a few exciting tidbits about his career.

39. Soft Skin (1998)
Dave shows Guy SOFT SKIN (やわらかい肌) from 1998 directed by none other than Hisayasu Sato, our first returnee director... listen to episode 5: NEIGH MEANS YES if you dare! SOFT SKIN is quite unusual for Sato. It falls (somewhat) outside of the pink genre and, at least at first, seems oddly gentle. However, it’s not long before things go haywire with eyeball-licking and a chicken leg being used in a very alarming way. This is truly one of his best and weirdest works!

38. Dog and Aunt (1995)
Guy shows Dave DOG AND AUNT (犬とおばさん) from 1995... sigh... well, we’re ready to see our subscribers drop dramatically after this crap. We first became aware of this repugnant film way back in our NEIGH MEANS YES episode, and, after a year and a bit, Guy dredged the gutter and managed to unearth it. DOG AND AUNT is directed by well-known female pinku director Sachi Hamano and tells a sweat-ridden tale of the love between an aunt and an Old English Sheepdog. This is a real film. We promise. And we’re very, very sorry.
