In episode fifty-one, Akito’s backstory is explored, and her mother Ren is introduced, along with their tumultuous relationship. Tohru laments over not having been able to help Uo with her relationship with Kureno. In episode fifty-two, Akito dreams of a loving memory involving Shigure. The two of them get in an argument, revealing the twisted situation between the two of them and Ren. Tohru tries to discuss the possibility of the curse breaking with Kyo, but he shuts down the conversation. In episode 54, a terrible rumor spreads about Machi. Yuki and Manabe (Kakeru) give her an impromptu visit to check in on her, and Yuki comes to understand Machi better. Last minute love confessions are snuck in before the third years graduate.
